A Ray of Hope  by Tinnuial 19 Review(s)

What a delightful story! I've somehow missed this in the past, but I love Thranduil and little Legolas, and Glorfindel is wonderful. The story of the Dorwinion, the bet and the Enchanted River was great fun!

Oh that was delightful. Your Thranduil and Glorfindel are so well written and of course who could not love little Legolas! Thanks for the wonderful chapter.

Well, this just keeps getting better! I hope the evil exams have not stripped your mind of all creativity and that we will soon see Chapter 3 to "A Ray of Hope."

The friendship between Glorfindel and Thranduil was a wonderful way to explore Chapter 2 and gave your readers great insight to our regal Thranduil (who does not always conduct himself so--good for him). All cozied up with fine wine and trading stories from the past is a good way to spend an evening in a friend's company, and I laughed as much as Glorfindel at Thranduil's means of acquisition of the vintage Dorwinion wine! I am as anxious as young Legolas for more of his father's esteemed companion, so bring on the blond bombshell from Imladris.

This is terrific writing - holds the reader's interest, is entertaining, intriging, and definitely whets the appetite for more. So, how about it?

Marvelous!

A wonderfully endearing glimpse of Thranduil, Legolas, and Glorfindel. So Legolas finally gets to meet one of his heroes; though I wonder whether Balrogs would really be suitable bedtime fare for elflings. :) Too bad he'll never get to meet Beleg Cuthalion, but that's another story. ~ I've played around with the visions-at-birth idea before, though mostly in Thranduil's regard. Another great story from you ~ please continue if inspired, though I know forced compositions are never as good as they could have been. (Can anyone say, *grammar class*?)

I recall Tolkien mentioned something about Elven mothers having foresight regarding their children's character and future. In Legolas' case, I took the liberty of manifesting that foresight by means of visions.

I'll try to continue this story since everyone does seem to be fond of Glorfindel and little Legolas... or perhaps a different story in the same timeline. Exams are done at the end of the week...*gets up to do a jig* so hopefully there'll be something done by next weekend...

I think you "should" continue this after the evil exams. I agree with the other reviewer who said you have a wealth of possibilities to explore. Maybe the plot will come to you during a study session when you should be paying attention to a large tiny print book that is so boring it would make paint peel. Your writing style is smooth and your language is just grand. I, for on, am quite interested in what the glorious golden balrog slayer could get into in Mirkwood. I'll take him off your hands for a few days while you think. He is very distracting....and you do need to study. Good start and full of possibilities. I hope the plot falls on you soon. :>) Karen

Author Reply: Thank you for the review! And as a token of my appreciation, you get another short story tonight!!!.... wasn't really intending to post it, but since everyone seems to have taken Glorfindel very much to heart, he insisted this one get published too...it's called "A Morning in the Valley"...
Hope you enjoy it! =)

And yes....I have been thinking of possible plots when I oughta be buried deep beneath a pile of textbooks heavier than I am and more boring than you could possibly imagine hehehe....like...what am I doing here now?!?!
oh well...;)
Thanks again...

This was delightful! By all means, do continue. Plotless? Glorfindel is in Mirkwood, among Thranduil's people, healing from battle wounds, and a young Legolas is there to worship the hero of his bedtime stories. You have a wealth of wonder to build a story upon, and if the rest of it is as good as the first of it, you will find yourself a first-rate fan fiction writer with many returning fans.

Good work! Keep going...

Author Reply: Thanks so much for taking the time to review my story....the comments are much appreciated and I do believe you've swelled my head just a teensy bit LOL....

At this point, I'm not sure how to continue the story as I have no set plot or grand adventure for this to lead into. Perhaps after these evil exams are over I might attempt a few more chapters...

Thanks again....

Young Legolas was utterly charming... as was the Balrog Slayer. It must be tough to be a favorite bedtime story!

Author Reply: Thanks for the review...it's always nice to hear from readers...

If I get down to continuing this tale I will make sure Glorfindel lives up to his reputation... ;)
