Unfair--cliffhanger!
So, Legolas has awakened, but to what? That we will see; and I have the curiosity to know what other tricks Allaura might have up her sleeves.
Author's reply
Are any cliffhangers fair? :o)
That is the question. Indeed, we'll have to see. We'll also have to see what more Allaura can come up with, since she isn't finished yet.

· Chapter 21
Gosh, the situation is far worse than what any of us expected. Legolas's obsession with the stone has gotten him in a position which he would kill for the stone even if it is in his possession. Poor Aragorn. I think that the threat probably caused his heart pain more than the fact that it would frighten him. He didn't doubt what Legolas said would be true, but hearing the words come from his best friend's lips is enough to cause pain in the soul. As you've said earlier, elves are more sensitive and in tune with their surroundings, and so they could see inside the stone's inner core, and thus be drawn in more deeply than humans.
So what he said was true. Estel was risking his life to help his friend but instead he is starting to get choked by Legolas. If Ricard weren't there Aragorn would have died. Strong as he is he still can't beat an elf. And Legolas's quick healing abilities have gotten him up, and that must have unnerved Ricard since he doesn't know that fact about elves, though Aragorn does.
Hmmmmm I wonder what would happen next. Would Legolas still be dangerous in his obsession, or would he recover??? Stay tuned for the next chapter of "Dragonfire" by White Wolf to find out!
What am I doing? Why am I telling this to myself and to you? I must have gone insane. The state testing has driven me crazy. I hate them. They're called CAT6, which stands for California Achievement Test, 6th edition. Four hours a day, for four days.
Hurry!

Author's reply
That is a bad situation. Even though Legolas had the necklace, he didn't want anyone free to take it from him. What happened, knowing it and hearing it, does pain Aragorn, but at least he is able to understand what's going on with Legolas.
Aragorn was very lucky that Ricard was there, because if he hadn't been, the ranger would have been choked to death. And Ricard would have been next. Ricard was very surprised that Legolas recovered from being knocked out as quickly as he did. He hasn’t had any experience with elves.
You pretty much summed up what I was going to say. I was also going to ask if you had a blue stone that was making you a little crazy. :o) Yes, you must stay tuned.
I hope you did well on your exam.

Oh my god.... this is the worst cliffhanger i have encountered in a long time! I just have one question...why did legolas lose so much blood from the arrows in the beginning? well, this is an extremely well written and original story, so update soon!
Author's reply
I think that's a good thing, because there are certainly a lot of clliffhangers out there in fanfictionland.
The blood loss was just a consequence of the wounds. It adds more drama to the story when a character loses a lot of blood.
Thank you very much. I will update at the end of next week.

Wow, that was a truly amazing chapter. I'm so glad that Ricard turned traitor against Allaura. Yay! *claps hands and jumps all over the place (tries to)* Since I'm writing this at my school, I have to keep it secret and make sure no teacher or any of the librarians sneak behind me and see what I'm doing --> that'll be completely scary. =( Treco DOES have a conscience after all...that's interesting! As you've said before, no dragon from his family did, so him being the first to have one is quite astounding, seeing as he broke the chain for the "no-conscience" dragons that were all before him. =)
Seeing that Ricard had only agreed to help Allaura in the past only because he was scared of her, it was quite amazing that he decided to help Aragorn instead despite his fears of his wife. I wonder how husband and wife could have ever felt affection for each other in the first place...*stares off into space, wondering deeply* Well the good news is that Ricard now trusts Strider, though if I were in his position I wouldn't have because I would be scared that Allaura could surprise Aragorn and then break free and kill me. Certainly Ricard took a risk, because after all these years with his wife he should have known that she might have had tricks up her sleeve even without her necklace, and once she got free from the ranger, she would certainly kill him.
Aragorn finds Legolas. Not a very good thing here. Since Legolas's obsession with the stone has been this long, I think it may be too late to be able to save him now. Oh no! You had better not do anything bad to him. He's suffered enough as it is. Poor Aragorn, I think I can feel his puzzled hurt when he finally found Legolas and the elf pushed him back. Interesting...your story now has ME enraptured instead....and don't take too long until your next update, please!!!

P.S. This time, along with all the Hershey's, I will add Ferrero Rocher along with your usual chocolate load. Hopefully you will have finished all the chocolate that I'm sending now along with this review, because I've sent 2 tons of Ferrero and 3 of Hershey's. That'll be enough for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day!!! WOW! Chocolate paradise! I'll keep it coming if you keep the chapters coming. =)

Author's reply
Thank you. I hoped you would like it. I also hope you didn't get into trouble at school.
Treco does have a conscience, and he isn't too happy to discover that fact, either. But I don't think he'll be telling any of his family about it. Maybe he developed one only because our elf and ranger are so compelling.
Ricard isn't evil, he was just terribly abused. He's going to finally show his backbone, and if Allaura kills him, then at least he’ll be free of her. There's more I could say to explain, but that will come a little later in the story, so I can't reveal it now.
The reunion was certainly not what Aragorn was expecting, that's for sure. As for doing something bad to Legolas, I'll have to wait and see what the plot bunny decides to do.
I love Rocher. Keep it all coming. More soon.

Very fitting she should be held in her own vault. Perfect justice there.

My apologies for the late review. School has certainly been very stressing for me, and so I haven't been on this site for half a month. I've already pulled two all-nighters due to projects. And no, I would never get tired of this story. I was just asking out of curiosity.
Well, now everyone's in a mess of trouble except for Treco. Lucky dragon! Let's see, the guards are all dead, Legolas is somewhere with the stone, Allaura's very pissed off and trying to find him but finds Aragorn instead, and Aragorn won't be any better off with the evil woman, and Ricard's still injured from Legolas's "attack", you might call it. So now Treco's the only one who's escaped without trouble (if you don't count what happened to him before).
I wonder what Allaura's planning next. Evil people never stop with their wickedness. >=(
-Lady Saruman
P.S. Once again, on with the chocolate showers!!!
Author's reply
School can be quite trying at times. I hope your projects went well.
You are right. Treco is the only one who is currently free of trouble. However, I don't think he will get away unscathed. He doesn't believe he has a conscience, but I think it will prove to haunt him that he left those who helped him behind. Everyone else is in a pickle of one sort or another. Despite Aragorn being taken again by Allaura, I fear most for Legolas. His obsession is getting very serious.
Allaura just wants things back the way they were before, with her in control, of course. She would do well to let the elf alone, get the necklace and be satisfied with Aragorn and Ricard and anyone else she could end up trapping. But she's too arrogant to let Legolas go. She still thinks she can have it all.
Oh boy. more chocolate! Keep it coming.

I don't think Treco believes he has one, sinply because no one in his family ever did. No, it doesn't. We'll have to wait and see if Treco does or not.

She just keeps miscalculating, doesn't she? Dragon is gone, Elf obsessed with what ought to allow her to harvest his life force and hidden in the most obvious place, guards out cold, Ricard lamed. And she thinks she can somehow control Aragorn now? She is VERY mistaken, I believe.
Author's reply
When you list all those things together, it does sound like Allaura hasn't a chance. Plus, she has had her way for so long that it's impossible for her to see things the way they truly are. However, she isn't entirely without resources, mostly a cunning mind. Things should get really interesting after this.

Sorry, my bad about the last review. I KNEW that Treco was playing dead, not pretending to be asleep. I guess I wrote that because I was half-asleep at the time and so the idea of sleep was enticing.
Haha Legolas was successful in getting away from both Ricard and Allaura, which was something that I think is way too easy because getting away from Allaura was supposed to be difficult or impossible. She wasn't supposed to be that weak, was she? Oh well. And Ricard is absolutely unprepared for the unexpected.
Aragorn's plan worked, though that seemed too easy also. I thought that this plan would have a glitch to it, but it turned out to go very smoothly. His idea of trying to finding Legolas was futile, though. I guess that's too bad that Legolas managed to hide from Aragorn, though I thought that Aragorn would notice because of his keen ears too. It's sad to know that he ran right past the elf without any sign.
By the way, is your story somewhere close to reaching its conclusion?

Without the necklace, Allaura is just an ordinary woman. She's not even immortal without it. Both she and Ricard were caught totally off guard by Legolas. That's why it was so easy for him to get away. Neither were expecting violence from him.
Even Aragorn was surprised at how easy it was to defeat the guards. They, too, were caught off guard (pun intended). I think it may have been impossible, if he had had to fight all four at once. The glitch comes later. Legolas was being perfectly still, barely even breathing, and Aragorn was in a rush to find him, so he couldn't hear anything to tell him that the elf was so close.
Why do you ask? Are you getting tired of it? I don't know how long it will end up being, but I can say it's closer to the end than it is to the beginning.
Thanks for the Hershey's. I could almost taste them. Sleep depravation can do strange things to the mind. I wish I could put the blame on that. :o)

Yes, Aragorn certainly has a plan, but I'm not sure that it is too wise, because it seems kind of obvious what he's going to do, unless the guards are like, really stupid. No, I don't think this plan will work exactly how Aragorn would want it to. The plan may work partially, but it would be too good to be true if the whole plan worked out (unless you're one of those writers who are always optomistic and make things always go right whenever there's a conflict). It would be very hard to get Treco to get to sleep while Aragorn was all ranting about we should do this, we should do that....it's so wied.
And the three way situation between Ricard, Legolas, and Allaura. Well, it turns out that Allaura's inexperience with elves has cost her a lot. And Legolas is so absorbed and obsessed with the blue stone so greatly that I think that there will be no way to draw him out of its depths, whatever the elf is seeing. Well, the way your describing it was like Legolas would simply die if he did not get the sapphire stone. I feel sorry for Ricard because he married a woman who did not like him at all except on certain occasions in which she would use him to carry out her heinous plans. And since he did know his wife, he would of course know what she would do, though I would like to say that it won't be anything pleasant--only horror or drama or something else that is dark and mysterious.
Well, now it turns out that Allaura is just another being who has no power at all if she did not have the sapphire. She may be immortal, but she might not be able to withstand things.
Please update as soon as you can!
Hershey's kisses and hugs,
Lady Saruman
Author's reply
Remember that the guards think Aragorn has probably been eaten by the dragon, or at least, flamed by him. They don't expect the two would be working together. If you know my work, you know I rarely have things so without a hitch. I don't like easy. My characters have to build - character. :o) Treco isn't sleeping. He's playing dead to lure all the guards into the room. They won't fear him, if they think he is dead.
Allaura had certainly underestimated elves and this elf in particular. Getting Legolas free of his obsession is definitely going to be a challenge. He doesn't think he'll die without the stone, because he's determined he'll get it back.
Ricard is a victim as surely as anyone ever was, but Allaura did have feelings for him when she married him. He just came second to her need to sustain her immortal life. What happens nect will indeed be unpleasant. The question is: for whom?

The word is "piqued" rather than "peaked," btw.
So, our lady has underestimated the strength of the floor of her dragon dungeon, the attraction the necklace holds for Elves, and the wiliness of Rangers. Only her husband remains predictable--for the moment, at least.
Will be interested in seeing how the dragon playing possum works out. Bless Aragorn for his ability to think fairly rapidly in such circumstances. And the dragon wouldn't think of eating a Man, would he? Man poisoning? Hehehehe!
Author's reply
Thanks for telling me about the mistake. It's funny, but I can spot those kinds of errors in other stories. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people write about the reigns of a bridle when they mean reins. I'm somewhat more blind to my own errors. :o)
Yes, Allaura has done a lot of underestimating. It remains to be seen what price she pays for that. Where Ricard will fit in is also a mystery.
Legolas is lucky to have a wily ranger as a friend. Aragorn will do anything to save that elf. Dragons won't eat just anything, bless them, otherwise the wily ranger may have been lunch, and that would have been that.

That's an interesting theory. I think Aragorn's plan could be considered a success if it gets him and Treco out of the dungeons.
