· Chapter 21: "Mourning Missed"
“I await you there, where there is no waiting. I long for you there, where there is no longing. I love you there, where all is loving.”
Oh Pearl! Just when I think your writing can't get any more stunningly beautiful, you completely outshine even yourself. This is such a gem.
*weepy, but happy-weepy*
Author's reply
Thank you so much dear shirebound :-)
My hubby hasn't heard the story yet, I was waiting to get some reviews so I would know if I had "done him proud". I'm weepy to be greeted by such a generous first response. Thank you.

· Chapter 14: "The Burned Hand . . ."
Oh, a wonderful look at Pippin maturing, as he places Denethor's self-destruction into context neatly and appropriately. Very nice, and well written.
Author's reply
Thank you so much, Larner :-) Pippin would have understood a lot, once he saw that palantir in Denethor's hands.

· Chapter 15: Faeries
Yes--high time the child learns that part of his heritage.
But I agree with Pippin in the next story--the poem is very much codswallop.
Author's reply
He definitely needs to know when it is something that will have noticeable effects on his life.
Hehehe, yes, the poem is codswallop indeed ;-)
Thank you, Larner, for reading and responding :-)

· Chapter 16: An Unlikely Heritage
Yes, Farry has the right to know the truth of his heritage, child of her child that he is. She watched over his father during the quest, and will now watch over him.
Nice to see more of her.
Author's reply
Thank you, Larner! One can understand why the Tooks keep the Faerie blood a secret, but I do think those who have it need to understand why they are different. I'm glad you enjoyed having more of Culassisul :-)

· Chapter 17: "Elements"
I recognized the voice as Gandalf's. Wonderful, poignant adaptation for Movie-verse.
Author's reply
Cool! I will admit I was a bit disappointed when this was at Marigold's Challenge that she mentioned Gandalf in the little blurb as I was curious how long it would take readers to know who was speaking.
Thank you so much, Larner :-)

Yes, questions that need answering indeed! And at least no one was hurt when the fire passed over the smial.
Author's reply

It would be a benefit to living underground, that's for sure!

Okay, a wonderful adaptation here! Poor Bilbo--carried away on his way for a nice visit.

As soon as I read my starter of "an unruly pony", my mind put it to the song. I'm glad you enjoyed it Larner :-)

· Chapter 20: "Don't You Worry About Me!"
Yes, the Ring had possessed him for sixty-one years, and realizing it's gone at last would take a good deal of time.
Author's reply
Indeed it would. With the way he asks to see it again in Rivendell, I don't think he fully realized until he saw Frodo's horrified reaction what the Ring was all about, nor the hold it had had on he himself.
Thank you for reading and responding, Larner!

A lovely moment. Yay for Bilbo! He's a dear, isn't he?
Author's reply
Thank you, Armariel! Yes, he and the Gaffer were a good pair. Both liked to show a gruff exterior to hide the old softy within :-)

· Chapter 20: "Don't You Worry About Me!"
Bilbo must have been very strong-willed, to walk away and leave the Ring, even with Gandalf's help. It must have been strange and rather wonderful for him to feel free of that weight at last.
Author's reply
I'm thinking that he most likely didn't even connect the two things but would just think he was feeling good.
Thank you for reading and reviewing, Baggins Babe!

· Chapter 20: "Don't You Worry About Me!"
It says a lot for Bilbo that he had the strength to walk away from it. Even with Gandalf's help.
It makes him unique, really. Hobbit power!
Author's reply
Yes, very unique indeed, and brave. To walk away from his old life, especially the Ring that he (I think) viewed as an old friend, was very brave.
Thank you for reading and responding, Bodkin :)

· Chapter 20: "Don't You Worry About Me!"
O very well done, indeed!
This is completely believable, and wouldn't you know that somehow Gandalf is keeping a mental "eye" on Bilbo, fond of the old hobbit as he is.
The Ring has passed on, and Bilbo is at last free...
Well, as free as he can be, poor old fellow.
MEWD!
Author's reply
Thank you most kindly, for your kind words :)I'm sure the Ring was not happy with Bilbo leaving and it staying put.
Thank you so much for reading and responding, Lin :)

· Chapter 18: Dry as Tinder
Pippin has found the answer to a lot of questions - but has he learned why it's not a very good idea to stick your head out of a window when a fire is burning towards you? Because I think that's a message his Uncle Saradoc would be very keen to get firmly set in his head!
That fire was very scary - and Pearl and Pimpernel's worry was very good - not too overstated, but definitely festering in them.
Author's reply
Thank you for reading and responding, Bodkin :)
I'm sorry that the lecture/instruction that surely should and would follow this incident wasn't part of what my muse gave me. I seem to often leave such things out of my tales - I must have a very lax muse. I'm sorry if it's absence distracted from the story for you :(
I'm glad you liked how I handled his older sisters' worry :)

This is very topical with the heatwave that has hit my bit of England particularly hard at the moment! Very scary because I know that it could happen to me any time soon-but a fantastic story! Thankyou :)

I've noticed that England and Scotland have been unusually hot the last week or so. I hope you all come through it all right. I'm glad you enjoyed the story :)

· Chapter 18: Dry as Tinder
But this was Pippin Took.
Well, if that doesn't say all ;-)
I can see him standing there, fascinated by the sight before him, the colors, the sound, the smell, oblivious to the extreme danger he's in!
And it was so very close!
I like Saradoc's reaction, someone else would have found much harder words. However, when the time is right, Pippin should be informed about the danger of fire - and I'm sure Paladin will see to that.
Thank you Pearl, for this great little story!
Author's reply
Thank you so much, Andrea :)
Yes, that's our Pippin ;) I'm sure Paladin and Eglantine will have some words with their youngest child, though we know it won't do much to curb that curiosity of his.

O my.
Read at a gulp. Very masterfully done, so quietly setting all the pieces in place and then building the tension.
Pippin certainly *did* get his questions answered!
I just love the way Saradoc dealt with him. How relieved he must have been feeling!
You Tooks and your endless questions,” he said under his breath, but he was smiling as he said it. “What do you say to finding some sausages to roast over the indoor fireplace fire in our sitting room hearth, Pippin?”
Author's reply
Thank you so much, Lin. I so need the encouragement you, and other writers whom I admire, give me. I'm glad you enjoyed this tale :)

· Chapter 15: Faeries
I've seen this before but it holds up over more than one reading. Little Faramir is too delightful for words. May I adopt him? *teehee* Oh, I know all about wanting to write about faeries, too..........
~~~{~@
Author's reply
Thank you for the re-read, Armariel :)
Actually, I was very afraid of writing about the faerie connection as I like my stories to have the feeling of believability and wasn't sure that the idea of a mind connection and "magical" ways wasn't either pushing it or had been over done. I'm glad you like my stories that deal with the faerie blood of the Tooks.
