· Chapter 15: On The Trail
Estel must be feeling bad if he's willing to take medicine. And not being able to do anything towards finding Legolas will be making him feel worse.
I do hope Dorlas hasn't sent the rescue party off in the wrong direction - he's obnoxious enough and there really isn't time for Glorfindel et al to explore the woods. They need to retrieve that poor depressed elf before very many more minutes elapse, or they'll be too late.
And Legolas doesn't seem in too good a state. I hope the twins' healing skills are up to helping him - he's holding his own, but he's not really getting any better. Not that that matters, of course, if they're about to hang you.
Rescue party to the ... well ... rescue!
Author's reply
Estel is feeling pretty horrible indeed and Legolas isn't feeling too much better. Thank you so much for reviewing!!!

I know, I know... you put up the postings every sunday... but it's getting very very hard to wait that long ;)
At least now we know that both Legolas and the 4 looking for him will be at the same place at the same time.... that is .... if they didn't get the wrong direction...
O man , I love you're story and I can't wait for the next chapter.

One of the things I appreciate about this story is its pacing. You obviously have a plot clearly laid out, with several different groups of people, and you're drawing them together, moving us along so we have time to see what's happening but not enough time to grow bored. Nice job on that, Nettie.
It sounds as if both Estel and Legolas are in pain here, physical, mental, and emotional. The rescue party needs to hurry up!
Author's reply
Whew! I am so glad that you said that. I have read many stories where I have felt rushed through what is going on but I also didn't want to bore anyone. Thank you!

This is what you would call a tight fix, all of a sudden ther's murder involved.
I guess that that Gillian did something that Rathir didn't agree with... like argue with him about what he was doing to Aragorn and Legolas.
So they're gonna hang our poor friend are they... I don't think so... I doubt that the 4 friends that are riding in will let that happen ;)
Author's reply
Yes, a tight fix for all those involved :o) Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to review!

Oh dear, poor Legolas. It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that he would be found guilty. I like Leandir, maybe he can interviene and keep our elf prince alive until the real help comes.
Great update, Nettie.
Author's reply
I'm sure that Leandir would love to step in and help out but his duties only extend so far and his has an obligation to the town. I am glad that you liked the chapter. Thank you for reviewing!!

· Chapter 14: The Trial
Not so much a trial as a travesty.
Leandir clearly doesn't believe a word the scum are saying. I mean - they forgot to mention a murder! But what can he do? Due legal process has been administered in Toytown and it is his duty to uphold it.
Although I rather hope he decides that stupid is stupid and scum are scum - but I don't know that he can.
Where is that rescue party? The courts of Toytown will definitely be more impressed if the amnesiac elf is supported by large powerful people with big swords. They might even decide that their strength outweighs the strength of the Nasty Boys and go with their sense rather than their xenophobia.
Author's reply
I agree, it most definitely wasn't much of a trial at all. Leandir is very stuck, he believes Locke but his job duties only extend so far. Thank you so much for reviewing!!

· Chapter 8: Feeling Again
I am beginning to love this story as much as your other one. You truly put a lot of thought and talent into your writing. This one again is unique: the mystery of what happend to Estel and Legolas, the deep concern of their friends and family, and the kindness of Adras. Legolas' confusion as he struggles with his memory loss and injuries is once again very believable.
I am looking forward to reading more of this.

Poor Legolas he's really in a fix this time... no memory and accused of stealing a horse from the same people that tried to kill him and Aragorn. And Adras is dead :(
The marshal seems a good man, but if the people of the town are that frightend of elves how is he ever gonna get a fair trial? The four friends better hurry.

I like the marshal. He seems like a fair person. Why do I suspect that the rescue party is going to find a trial going on with results they may not like?
Author's reply
Leandir is just stuck, he was hired to do a job, not make final judgement. He suspects Locke is innocent but it is really out of his hands.

· Chapter 13: Between A Rock And A Hard Place
This is a very illusory safety. Anyone depending on the goodwill of a bunch of narrow-minded peasants/townsfolk certainly doesn't need to stand out in any way. Being an amnesiac elf is not going to help - especially when he is being accused by a bunch of people of whom everyone is scared. It's likely to be the kind of trial that gives kangaroo courts a good name.
I hope the rescue party don't get delayed - or they might find they're too late to be of any help.
Author's reply
Yes, I doubt that there was really such thing as a fair trial in such small towns. Someone needs to light a fire under those four elves' butts ;o)

so sad when Adaras died, Legolas loved the old man you can see. His son should never have brought those men, and he accused Legolas of killing him...
Good thing they were interupted before Legolas got hurt, but he is now alone with no-one... It seems Leandir may help, but a trail with no memory isn't good...
I hope his family and friend come soon, he is in need of someone on his side....

Ardas and Legolas taking a walk, and him first hearing the trees, that must have been a delight for him... And green leaf, trigered something...

Those men should pay for what they did to him...

· Chapter 12: Leandir
An extremely well written story!
Just one comment:
why do you hold this elf and Gods why is Adras dead?"
I don't know if "Gods" was meant to be a form of swearing or not.
It seems out of place and is unnecessary just to ask two questions.
If it was meant to indicate great shock, perhaps more description
of the scene is needed...his posture, facial expression, tone of voice.
In addition, perhaps changing the punctuation could accompany the
added descriptive scene:
"Why do you hold this elf? And...Gods!! Why is Adras dead?!"
It all depends on how emotional the man is when confronted with the realization that Adras is dead.
Author's reply
Thanks for the advice. It is appreciated.

No - Adras hasn't died, surely! He's far too nice. (Although I will concede that is not necessarily a good reason for him to live.)
At least the ale fumes dissipated enough for dumb Dorlas to attempt to defend his father, but he wasn't very successful. And poor Legolas isn't really in much of a condition to protect himself. You've got me worried! Legolas can't have survived until now only to find himself in the hands of the nasty people!
Where are the rescuers?
Author's reply
I am sorry. It really was a difficult choice to make and an even more difficult event to write. I hated to see Adras go as well. The rescuers are coming. I promise :o)

Dramatic moment when Legolas repeats "green leaf." And I like the way Dorias tries to protect his father. Somewhere inside is still the son Adras raised.

I knew Dorias would open his stupid mouth at just the wrong moment! He does need a good kicking. And drying out. Selfish little oik.
Estel's memories are worrying - and it's not going to be easy to sort it all out. I hope that the cavalry arrive in time to retrieve Legolas and his protector safely.
