The dust is settling after The War of the Ring. The various characters are working out their future paths. But Eomer, King of Rohan, is still assessing the past. Then he meets an original character, a female healer from Minas Tirith who has her own methods of treating both his physical and spiritual wounds.
I wrote this story to acknowledge Karl Urban's immensely physical portrayal of Eomer in the films of The Two Towers and The Return of the King, even though the story is set mostly in the b |

Upon First Viewing Jackson's Lord of the Rings |

This poem is a blatant rip-off of John Keats' classic, "Upon First Looking into Chapman's Homer". I originally wrote it for TORn to celebrate the birth of my first grandchild, in hopes that he'll be a Tolkien fan like his parents and his grandparents.

The Hands of the Healer |

After the battle of the Pelennor Fields, Aragorn goes to the Houses of Healing, not only out of a sense of duty to the wounded, but to answer a question that has gnawed at him for many years.
Alternate Universe. The story is founded on canon, but has moments referring to the movie-verse -- even though in the movie-verse Faramir, Aragorn, and Denethor don't resemble each other as much as in the books.
