In Debt to His Mercy

I could not believe his words of pity and release… how dare he steal from me the last feelings I wanted to inflict, bitterness and anger enough for him or other hobbits to attack? How could he not retaliate?

Now my drastic action of stabbing him was all for naught, for it did not fill him with hatred. If it had been a Man or Elf, I knew that my vengeance would have worked.

This halfing was no fool. His inaction exceeded my expectations of him, but I knew it was not long until darkness would ultimately consume his soul.
