He used to enjoy nighttime. Frodo liked gazing at the bright stars in the night sky, enjoyed the calm and peaceful air, to be alone with his book by the fireplace. Falling asleep made him forget about being alone.

However, the Quest has changed that.

He frequently thought of the Mordor dark, the suffocating spider’s lair, the discomforting dark dell of Amon Sul...the dark accentuated all the negatives of the life-changing Quest.

Night didn’t heal but made him feel ill at ease.

There was no healing. Not in the Shire, not at night even as he fell asleep to rest.
