Seems to me I remember telling and hearing tales like that, back when I was also a child. Poor Merry. Author Reply: I remember a few myself. If one could find a more trusting child to tell them to, all the better. LOL

Attack of the Killer Chickens! It sounds like a fifties horror movie, lol. Very funny. Poor, trusting Pippin. Some day he'll learn. He might be about 100 when it happens, but he'll learn, someday. Author Reply: If Pip catches on, what will Merry do for fun? LOL As to the Chickens, well, I hear that the Shire was full of Killer Chickens back in the old days. That year when the river froze over and the wolfs got into the Shire, I think it was the chickens that ran off the wolves. hehehe

I looooooove these stories! Poor, gullible, Pippin! I loved the last comment. Perfect for the moment. Hilarious, you've done it again grey wonderer! Author Reply: Thank you! Some might think the killer chickens were a bit much, but once in a while I just go over the edge on these things. Glad it gave you a laugh.

ROTFL!! This story was a sight for sore eyes--after all the angst I've been dealing with lately... What a brilliant sense of humor you have! *Merry* wicked?? How 'bout the author who weilds the pen?? :-P Another fascinating story complete with fabulous Merry-Pippin banter! Thanks for sharing! Pippinfan Author Reply: Me, wicked? You heard what Frodo said, "This entire thing was Merry's fault." I just gave him a "little push out of the door."(Gandalf) Actually, it was those chickens that caused all of the trouble. hehehe

I have got to say that this is my favorite one of these yet! I read it the other evening, and didn't have time to review. I nearly died laughing. Then I showed it to Marigold, and the two of us sat in front of my computer and laughed ourselves to tears. Reading it the third time, and I'm still laughing so hard I can hardly stand it!! I love this--I love the little framing story in Minas Tirith, and that they are telling Sam a story he hasn't heard before. I love the way Pippin's older cousins react to his attempts to garner sympathy. And the chicken story!!! OMG!! You are so brilliant! Killer chickens, of all things! And Merry, traumatizing poor little Pippin like that, just wicked! And of course, most brilliant of all, Merry getting his come-uppance from Pip all unknowing, just dear little Pip, so proud of his Merry for taking care of him, LOL! I think I'm going to read it for the fourth time!! Author Reply: Oh, so you're the one who's reading this one! LOL Glad you liked it. You never know how killer chickens will be received. They are a much-misunderstood farm animal. I decided that Sam would be the perfect one to hear this story. I am sure he missed some of Merry and Pippin's early adventures. I doubt that Pippin would have given Merry away on purpose, but in an attempt to brag on his dear cousin, he let the cat or chicken, as it were, out of the bag. So glad this gave you a laugh.

Hee hee hee hee hee hee ... oh, wait. I said that about the last story. Killer chickens. This is too cute. I love your portrayal of the childhood of our beloved hobbits. They're warm, real, and very, very funny. Thanks for a heart-warming, toe-wriggling read. Jeodo Brandybuck Author Reply: Hey, I made someone's toes wriggle! That's way cool. Thank you for reading and for the review. Oh, and if all you want to put is Hee hee hee, that's more than fine. I love it when these make people laugh. The toe-wriggling was an extra bonus! Guess it was the killer chickens what did it.

Killer chickens? Where do you come up with this stuff? That was hilarious! I was rolling! Poor, trusting Pippin, so proud of having Merry to look after him. Merry was such a rascal to do that to him. This was great. Author Reply: Doesn't everyone have a killer chicken story? No? Well, maybe this is the beginning of a trend of some sort. I don't really have any idea where this sort of nonsense comes from. It just shows up and I go with it. Thank you for reviewing!
