| "Do you think their previous experiences have made them... emotionally unstable still?" Poor Glorfindel and Finrod.... Yikes - a couple Maia are in trouble. And I hope the children are not suffering too badly. Great chapter.... thanks for posting! Author Reply: The children are fine as you will see in the next chapter, or they will be eventually, even Lindorillë. Finrod and Glorfindel are still recovering from their earlier ordeal though they are unaware that they are still in healing mode, thinking all is well with them. | who is Celepharn? I'm excited to see where this newest development/disaster goes 'cause honestly I'm a bit lost. but I'm sure after a few more chapters i'll be clearer. Author Reply: Celepharn, also called Artelemnar, is a character who appeared briefly in "Elf, Interrupted: Book One" as Glorfindel and Sador's roomate while they were all in Lórien. Artelemnar, as he preferred to be called then, is a Noldo who died during the sack of Doriath by Celegorm and Curufin. He was not very nice to Glorfindel and Sador and was sent to another part of Lórien for further 're-education'. Now he prefers to be known by his Sindarin name, Celepharn, and is a much nicer elf. I hope this very brief explanation helps clear up some of your confusion. | |

| I love Námo and to see him in his "dreaded Doomsman of Arda" mode does make a nice change sometimes....not that I want to be on the receiving end of it of course! So I'll just stand off [way] to the side and watch the fireworks! Well, Glorfindel and Finrod certainly had a right time of it, didn't they? All that destruction - hopefully they got it all out of their systems now and will move on. I do feel sorry for Olórin though. I think he got caught up in something more than he imagined. Lisselindë on the other hand seemed to know just what she was doing. Ces Author Reply: Námo prefers his other roles as Comforter and Consoler, but he's not averse to taking on the role of Judge when it's called for. Olórin knows what he's about but Lisselindë only thought she knew what she was doing. It will take a couple or three chapters to sort this all out. | |

| Well, I can't even speculate. Not enough info at this point, or else I'm looking at it the wrong way (wouldn't be the first time). Everybody's miserable. Lisselindë's obviously headed for a lot of regrets. I'm hoping Olorin isn't too culpable -- he seems to have been mostly an observor of Lisselindë's mischief, but I don't feel confident I understand all the implications. Glorfindel seems on the way to reconciling with Celepharn, so that's *something* positive. "They are both getting too dangerous to be allowed to remain together" -- But then where would your story be? ;-D "Considering that even an entire contingent of warrior Maiar were unable to pull them apart" -- Wow. Luckily this should *not* be typical of the vast majority of present and future Reborn! "I have a feeling that things are just going to get worse before they get better" -- I trust the Valar are taking an unnecessarily gloomy view! Author Reply: At this point it's best not to speculate... you know how devious I can be. *grin* We'll see in the next chapter or two the outcome of all of this on everyone. | |

| Whoa! Oh are those two Maiar in trouble! I don't even want to be in the same galaxy as NAno when he takes on his aspect of Doomsman of Arda (shivering with dread at the very thought). Lisselinde certainly has caused more trouble than she ever expected to develop, hasn't she? I know that the Maiar make mistakes and sometimes behave very childishly but this "prank" seems to be rather malicious. How could Lisselinde not have realised that her having Lindorillë find and read the letter would be so hurtful, given the elfling's reaction to Finrod's disappearance into the tenth dimension? It was nice to hear mention of Vorondil and Aldundil and I'm glad to know that the other elflings are all right. I look forward to seeing what happens next, though I must admit I am feeling a little trepidation at the further consequences of Lisselinde's "prank". Take care, meldonya, and I hope that you have a good week. Edlyn Author Reply: I doubt that what Lisselindë did could be considered a prank. She was completely sincere. Unfortunately, she has had little experience dealing with Elves on a regular basis and so miscalculated their reactions to what she caused to happen. | It is amazing how fast thing can go completely pearshaped around Glorfindel, isn't it? I wonder if your version of the Valar are acquainted with Murphy's Law? If they are, I wouldn't be surprised if their name for it includes the words "Glorfindel" or "Balrog Slayer" :-) Lisselindë's rather catty thought about Finrod in chapter 24 ("Lord Findárato was not as clever as he thought he was and Lisselindë was set to prove it") made me wonder what her problem was. Certainly not the right sort of attitude to be working with someone so close to Finrod. And an elfling at that! What _was_ she thinking? Was she thinking at all?? Then the fight: Glorfindel and Finrod going for each others throats with such vigor that an entire contigent of warrior Maiar weren't able to stop them, but actually had to call on the Valar for reinforcement ... I wonder if the elflings are going to learn that Glorfindel and Finrod had a fight, and if they are going to see at least some of the results of it? If so, I wouldn't be surprised if at least the two oldest ellyn are going to look on the carnage with the sort of awe reserved for the results of very well done pranks and large frogs and snakes (or other things that make adults go ewww...) At last, Námo in true Wrath of Mandos mode. Lisselindë and Olórin are definitely up to their necks in ..ummm, fertilizer, and sinking fast! Author Reply: Well, Glorfindel cannot be entirely to blame for what happened. There was a great deal of miscalculation on Lisselindë's part. I doubt if Lisselindë was thinking at all, or rather she was not thinking that the Elves might react differently than what she was expecting. Obviously, whatever she had hoped would happen, it all went south in a hurry. I don't think she really had a clue. As for the rest... we'll have to wait and see. Námo in Wrath of Mandos mode is no one to fool around with, that's for sure. Thanks for your review. | |

| I love this characterization of Olorin, who is in his way the most Hobbit-like of Maiar! Thanks, Fiondil! Author Reply: You're welcome Larner. Most people seem upset by his character at this juncture, but there are depths to Olórin that many do not recognize or accept. I'm glad you liked how he is being portrayed here. | |

| Well, that the two where starting a fight was clear at the end of the last chapter but that they would destroy the complete grove and a group of warrior maiar could´t stop them but had to call two valat for that... I know those two are powerful but not that they are that powerful. Did that come from being reborn or from their little trip to the tenth dimension? Are Lisselindë and Olórin trying to run away from trouble? They should know better than that. Their trouble will only getting worse from that. It would have been better to talk directly to Irmo of Namo after the fight. And I´m still wondering what Lisselindë was trying to archieve by letting the elfling finding the letter. I hope we get the answer to that soon. Author Reply: I think Finrod and Glorfindel were already very powerful elves before their deaths. After all, Finrod went up against Sauron in a duel of Words and he was almost winning. Glorfindel went up against a balrog and defeated him. Even Gandalf died fighting a balrog. I think though that being Reborn may have changed them somewhat in ways that even the Valar cannot safely predict. As for all the rest... all will be revealed in the next chapter or two.
