| I loved the sense of joyful expectation that permeates this chapter (and generally all the passages dealing with the Valar eagerly waiting for the Children). "I think we should make this an extra special occasion," Estë said. "We’ve all waited so long for this. You don’t know how some of us despaired that you would ever come to an understanding." Both Námo and Vairë gave her surprised looks that turned rather thoughtful when Irmo, Nienna and Yavanna all nodded. Námo wasn’t quite sure how to respond to such a revelation and said the first thing that came to mind. "Sorry to keep you waiting." I shared Námo's surprise, I think because the story is mainly told from his perspective, and there was never really any lasting doubt that he and Vairë would wed some day. But so much happened to them both, and generally, that it's perhaps understandable that the others might think differently. To echo Jack Sp... sorry, Captain Jack Sparrow, "Weddings? I love weddings! Drinks all around!" Author Reply: You are correct that while Namo and Vaire were sure that eventually they would get married, that can't be said for the others. *grin* They must have been taking bets as to just when the knot would be tied, if it ever was. And everyone loves a wedding! You can never have enough weddings, IMO. *lol* | |

| Oh, meldonya! They're finally wed! FINALLY! And as everyone else has noted, poor Namo...he'll be so distraught when the first fëa to enter his Halls is *not* a Mortal. In fact, I'd been wondering if said occupant of his Halls would be his Fallen Brother...not that Melkor was dead of course, just that...didn't Melkor get locked up in Mandos? He's always saying how Melkor's cell has been empty a while, and I do remember Melkor's imprisonment from somewhere in my Silm, I'm sure, I just can't remember exactly when it occurred. *is only half awake* So...Finwë or Melkor? *ponders* And I want to know but I'm not certain I want to know...what do you think happened to the fëar of the orcs? ~Kaylee Author Reply: Melkor did indeed end up in Mandos and that will be addressed in a subsequent chapter as will you question concerning the orcs. | |

| Ah, at last the two of them have come together. YAY! I was chuckling as I read the description of the Halls and how much thought and effort Namo put into it when I considered your earlier story where Pippin and Merry arrive there and the Bree shopkeeper is stirring people up about how plain everything it. If he only had a clue about how much love and care went into that place for his benefit! But then, most of us never consider the effort and love and care done on our behalf! :) Nicely done... Author Reply: Hah! I'd forgotten that about the Mortals' comments on the Halls myself! Thanks for reminding me, Radbooks. I know Námo put in a lot of thought and effort into making his Halls as beautiful and conducive to quiet contemplation as he could make them. And you're right about how little we appreciate the effort and love and care that is done on our behalf, either by our fellow creatures or by God and the Valar. | |

| Hurray! They're finally wed! This was a beautiful chapter, meldonya. I absolutely love their vows, the nermir, and oh, everything. It was perfect. I find myself wondering what Maranwë's statue looks like. :) But even with all the joy in this chapter I find myself worrying for Námo, because the first fëar to enter his Halls will be those of the Firstborn and he doesn't know it yet. Well, I also have to remember that I'm seeing it from the other side of the time line and none of them know yet that Feanor's revolt is going to happen. At the point in time that the Ayanumuz and Máyar are at in your story everything is still potentialities. Beautifully written meldonya. Thank you! Author Reply: Hi, Edlyn. I'm glad you enjoyed the wedding of the ages. *grin* As for Maranwë's statue... I'm not sure myself. Perhaps one day we'll find out. And you are correct about everything is still potentialities... the future is not set and anything can change it, which is why Námo sometimes 'sees' more than one possible outcome for a given event, but events pertaining to himself he is unable to see so he is unaware of the real reason Atar had him build the Halls when he did. | Poor Namo... he'll be so distraught when the first fea to arrive will be that of an elf. That will come as a shock. *sigh* that was such an incredibly sweet ceremony (I nearly cried). I'm incredibly happy for both of them. The translation of that psalm was beautiful. Already looking forward to the next chapter, Thalanee Author Reply: Yes, I'm afraid they are all in for a shock, but it cannot be helped. I'm glad you enjoyed the ceremony and my translation of the biblical verse. I know it's often used at weddings for obvious reasons. He frowned a bit at the thought, thinking he was overlooking something important, something obvious." Poor, poor Námo. All the Valar are going to be heartbroken when the first one to arrive is an Elf. Finally! Oh, that's the best use for the Halls. Hallowed by love after they're built. (Not that they weren't during the construction, but a wedding is special.) Ooh... Is this what the Eldarin wedding ceremony is based off? And the translation carries the meaning quite well. Well done! (Though now I get the feeling more trouble is coming now.) ~ Indy Author Reply: You're right, Indy. The Valar will indeed be heartbroken, and the wedding was indeed the best use for the Halls, hallowing them, as you say, by love and by Love, for weddings are very special. I have no idea if the Eldarin wedding ceremony is based on this or not. I suspect that the Elves developed their own ideas. Since Námo and Vairë are the last of the Valar to espouse and the wedding is unobserved by any of the Eldar, it is unlikely they modeled their own ceremony after this one. I'm glad you think the translation works... as simple as the phrase looks, it took me awhile to get it right in Quenya. | |

| Fiondil, I haven't review your stories, don't know why, because I have been reading all of them loyally since you started to post in this site, let me tell you that I love your stories, your characters and your beautiful and moving writing style. I love the way that you describe the Universe, the creation of Arda, the Valars and God...the way that you show their love for each other and the world, the way that ADA is always with them and us, taking care, loving all his creations...I don't know how to express my feelings when I read your stories, specially this one, but they really touch my spirit and they are incredible fantastic, inspirational, and...I'm rambling, must be the season, it is close to Christmas...Anyway, I just want to say Thanks for your wonderful job and keep writing. Even if I don't review, know that I always read and enjoy all your stories. Love Namo, his compassion and I don't want his job when the elves souls start to shown before him. I remember in one of the Glorfindel stories that Sador said that Namo had built the Halls before the Children were awake, and if he has known the purpose of the Halls, he must has cry because of that...now I think that it is good that he doesn’t know, because for us, Mortals, by ADAR creation, Death is a journey to an incredible destiny, a blessing, so the Halls should not have to be a sad place, just a preparation for the journey but for the Firstborn, Death was not part of the plan... Now, just a thought, it has always hunting me, if the first elves souls were the one of those ones metamorphosed to Orcs? What happens to them, to those very first ones, the “Fathers” of the Orcs? Will they go to Namos' care after their dead as Orcs? Or they souls will abandon their body when they become Orcs? It is not a terrible and sad fate? | So Námo still has no idea that the Firstborn will be the first to use his Halls? Poor guy. But it sounds really lovely what he did. It must be a place of great beauty. And now we *finally* get THE wedding! Yay! It was about time, really. And it was beautiful, all of it - the ceremony, the surroundings and the nermir.
