Oh, I love this. It shows the close knit family that Aragorn has in Imladris. Although, I wonder what the Gondorians make of this mercenary that gets letters from Elves. Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. Maybe Aragorn won't tell the Gondorians that the letters are from Elves, just from his 'family' and let the Gondorians wonder at that. *grin* Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed this. I really appreciate it.

Loved Estel's letter to his family, on his first visit to Gondor's big city. Nothing like a little mail to brighten one's day. Author Reply: Thanks, grumpy. I'm glad you liked this one. And you're right... there's nothing like mail from a loved one to brighten one's day. Alas that the art of letter writing (as opposed to sending off emails) is dying out. I remember how excited I would get when I opened my mailbox and found a letter addressed to me (as opposed to someone else in my family). It's such a special feeling, knowing that someone took the time to write a letter out by hand, stuff it into an envelope, hunt for a stamp and take it to the post office to be mailed just for me.

This was absolutely splendid. Not often do I get to read 'short' stuff. I'm glad I found this! BTW - my heart did a list skip - hoping that perhaps another 'long' tale might come from this..... Thorongil in Gondor - be still my heart! Blessings on a great chapter! Author Reply: Thanks, Agape. I so glad you found this and enjoyed it so much. At the present moment I have no immediate plans to do a sequel to "Stirrings of Shadow" where Thorongil goes on to Gondor, though when you read the final chapter of "Stirrings" you will see that I leave it open as a possibility. At any rate, I'm not saying that there *won't* be a sequel, only that there isn't one planned for the foreseeable future. I have other projects that I am dealing with at the moment.

It seems that somehow Gondor had always to pay a price for being so close to Mordor. Aragorn has a point here, which even the Gondorian captain must acknowledge. Their common enemy is practically before the gates and they shall make stand together, regardless their place of birth. I liked this one, although Third Age it's not my favourite cup of tea. I was rather impressed that Glorfindel had found Minas Tirith as beautiful as Gondolin or Fair Tirion upon Tuna. In the days of the beginning, that's it, long ago, when the remnants of the people of Numenor still had the light and the knowledge gifted by the Eldar. And of course, the feelings of love and care between Aragorn's family members are, as always in your writing, beautiful and touching. Author Reply: Hi, Sitara. I'm glad you enjoyed this little fic. Thank you for letting me know. Whatever their cultural and historical differences might be, Aragorn and the Gondorian captain have that one thing in common -- hatred for Mordor and its Dark Lord.

Thorongil found a great way to tell that Captain that not all of the North is bad, and the same goes for the South, from the POV of a Northerner. "‘Gilhael says if I don’t stop gawking like a country lad at all the sights, birds will start building a nest in my mouth.’"> LOL! That's one cheeky guy! And Aragorn has a great way to write letters, no doubt. Very nice of Elrond to tell the twins to make a detour to Ithilien to deliver Gilraen's letter. Though that idea seems to have been not entirely selfless *grin* The end was lovely. I like the idea that so many Elves wanted to write to Estel! :) If he's going to answer all these letters, the twins will have a prolonged stay in Ithilien to look forward to! Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Yes, I thought the way Thorongil handled the Captain was very... mature. I don't think that he would have handled him quite so diplomatically had he been younger. Gilhael is pretty cheeky, but he's developed a relationship with his Chieftain that few others have been able to, becoming almost like an adopted older brother. Hopefully, Thorongil and Gilhael will only need to write a single letter 'to be read before the assembly', otherwise I suspect their fingers will fall off before they get through writing individual replies. *lol* But, knowing the twins, they'll find a reason to 'stick around a little longer' anyway.

I have a visual of the twins riding away with the bundles of letters on their horses, a sweet little story and a very supportive and loving family. Hugs The Imp Author Reply: Thanks, Imp. I'm glad you liked this one. Supportive and loving families seem to be getting rarer in our world so it's nice to be able to write about the 'ideal' loving family (and who wouldn't want to have Glorfindel or Erestor as a 'favorite uncle'? *grin*)

Delightful, Fiondil! Truly delightful. One captain is jaded, but may find the new recruit a breath of fresh air! Author Reply: Let us hope so, Larner. I'm afraid the Gondorian captain has seen too much pain and evil and loss. Hopefully, Thorongil will rekindle in him a sense of hope for Gondor's future.

A new Tapestry story, yay!! :) And it's a letter home from Estel, too! This seems to be sort-of gapfiller for Stirrings of Shadow, from the other side, as it were, and I loved it! I'm so glad Tapestry is continuing! You made me smile today, meldonya. Tye-melin, ~Kaylee! Author Reply: Yes, this is sort of a gapfiller, though not necessarily for Stirrings which only tells about Aragorn's time in Rohan, but certainly it's from the same 'universe'. I'm glad you enjoyed it and that I made you smile today. Thanks for your review, Kaylee.

Oh, this gave me a chuckle, especially the last line. Now I am trying to figure out who wrote the fourth letter, Erestor perhaps or maybe Linder? Does kind of surprise me that they do not have an address they can write to in Minas Tirith,(I nearly put down their bankers of discretion, then realised that was Larner's idea!)? More please, Lynda Author Reply: Well, the four people would be Gilraen, Elrond, Glorfindel and Erestor since they, along with the twins, were the only one in the study at the time. The twins, of course, wouldn't need to write letters since they're the ones delivering them. I'm glad you liked this one, Lynda, especially the last line. Thanks for letting me know.

Ah, writing letters! This is so awesome! A great way to show someone's concern about their loved son or brother or whoever else. Nowadays we all have e-mails and different kinds of instant messengers, but that's not the same. You know, I've always wanted to write normal letters to someone. Although one has to wait much longer to receive such a letter, it's much more fun to actually hold it and see it! I know I can print some emails, but that's just not the same. I wish I had a friend without the Internet connection... But I'm rambling now. I absolutely loved that bit about the bird building a nest in Aragorn's mouth. *chuckles at the image of such a thing happening* "Estel certainly has a way of describing his experiences so you think you’re right there with him," No wonder. He must have spent quite a lot of time in Elrond's library. Besides, he might be talented in more than one field. :) Author Reply: Hi, Natalie. Well, the art of letter writing is indeed being lost to the electronic age. I remember as a child how excited I was to receive a letter, whether from a family member or a friend, and how I would sit down to compose my own letter. You could always find a friend, even if they have internet, and agree between you to write letters. My best friend and I when we were in high school wrote letters to each other using Tengwar, which was great because our younger siblings (we both had two of them) coudn't read them. *lol* So, maybe you can find another Tolkien fan with whom to exchange real letters and not just emails.
