what or whom has Glorfindel discovered? Another lost elf? I´m looking forward to find out. Lai Author Reply: We'll find out eventually, Lai. Thanks for reviewing.

Atto, Sorry, today was 'decorate the tree' day, LOL! But it's still the tenth, so... Anyway, this chapter is one of the scarier ones. I wonder if in EA2, we'll find out if that's the Watcher in the Water, or its great-times-however-many-descendant...*shudders* Creepy. Seems those trails are worth careful exploration... And it seems like the staff is fighting back in the War of the Stupid Elf Suits... Now to see what happens next tomorrow! Tye-melin, Kaylee Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. I don't know if we'll ever find out just what is sleeping under the tarn but the tarn does play a pivotal part in EA2. And I like that... the War of the Stupid Elf Suits. LOL! Sounds like a parody in the making. Thanks for commenting. Tye-melin.

My first thought was that another Watcher or perhaps the Loch Ness monster was in the water. The lack of birds is also disturbing. It's interesting that a Mortal would sense the danger too. Can't wait to find out what it is. Author Reply: As to what lurks in the tarn, we will probably not find out for sure. Certainly it's something dark and dangerous and it's best to leave it undisturbed. There are many legends in our world of monsters sleeping under the earth which will waken at the end of the world. Some Mortals are more sensitive than others and even if they don't have the innate abilities of the Elves they can feel when something is 'wrong'.

Woohoo! An interesting track, for sure! Glad now they chose that difficult path. I wish they did back then in that other park... I am dying to know what the red track was about, still. *grin* Thanks for the fuller description of the track. The lake's depiction was great too... although in a somewhat-creepy sort of way. Talk about creepy, I agree full-heartedly with Glorfy and the twins about the creepiness of all the "coincidences." It was too much... *shudder* I imagined it would be nice to be in... say... Mithrelas' shoes for a while. But now I am rethinking that. *grin* Wonder if someone or ten (or fourteen...) was tweaking around... Uh, but what about the three mortals finding flat stones and throwing them into the lake to create stepping spots? That gave the impression that the lake was merely a wide but pretty shallow body of water... And that reminded me about Boromir and the Watcher in the Water too. Their little job was kind of fun, though. Could feel the camaradery building in it. :) Had a good time 'watching' the group navigate the rocks too. Overall, I love their trekking and the picturesque view you provided. Thanks for coming up with it and in details, too. I don't remember having read about such tone in Elf: Interrupted Book 1 or 2... but then again, my memory is often faulty. The only thing I remember is that the Maiar showed Glorfindel the centre of Valinor - that globe of the earth. I noticed that Elrohir seemed to be the more attune-to-vague-things of the twins... He had been doing that since early in the story, if I remember correctly. So you'd say he was more "Elven-like" than his brother? Curious. Or did you actually plan his guesses to be coincidences? (Oomph. I am beginning to dislike that particular word... *shudder*) - Rey Author Reply: The mortals were not making stepping stones. They were skipping stones. It's a game that is played. You need a fairly flat stone for it to work. You fling it underhand at an angle that you hope will cause the stone to skip across the water until it falls in. The goal is to get as many skips as possible. The one whose stone has the most number of skips to it wins. Elrohir is not more Elven-like than his twin, just perhaps more sensitive to things. Elladan has his own gifts. They are twins and identical but they are each their own person and unique. The reference to Glorfindel hearing the Song is indeed in Elf, Interrupted Book 2. When the Maiar show Glorfindel the center of Valinor they also instruct him to hear the Song, the last echo of the Creation of Arda, something like the echo of the Big Bang that is detectable by our own instruments.

Oh my... This is one great story. I begin to find myself a little worried... I wish you'd just post it all at once-all this suspense is getting to me... but then again, I wouldn't be quite as interested if I got it all at once, I suppose. This is a lovely piece of work. Keep it up! Author Reply: Hello, ElvenMaiden. Thank you very much. I am glad you are enjoying this story. And posting all the chapters at once would be no fun for me. Three chapters a week, though, I think is enough to keep everyone interested in reading on. *grin*

Enjoyed the references to Mirkwood here :-) But I don't like the idea of another watcher in the water or something equally creepy up there. (Or should that be down there?) Anyway, it's interesting that even Shane felt something was wrong. Not too surprised the costumes have vanished from the cafeteria *grin* Well, I have to say ski outfits seem more sensible; it should be possible to find some who would fit for the purpose, and maybe they can put something like a tunic over it to make it more Elf-like. At least ski outfits would be warmer than these ridiculous costumes! A film about Loch Ness? After that tarn?? Now why don't I believe in that much coincidence? Author Reply: Hi, Kitty. Glad you enjoyed the reference to Mirkwood. It was too hard to resist. *grin* As for what lurks below the tarn... hopefully no one will find out. The new Elf Guide outfits that Glorfindel will produce should satisfy everyone, I think. Certainly the other students will be grateful, even if the Administration is not. And the movie is a coiincidence only if you believe in such things.

that was intriguing and creepy as well. I wonder what is living there and just who is selecting the movies at this place. Hmmm... the plot thickens, the water deepens, and the watchers gain more eyes... Author Reply: Hi ellie. Glad you found the chapter intriguing and creepy. I think the Elves are beginning to realize that more is going on than they ever suspected and that there may be a darker purpose for their being where they are. We'll see how it turns out by story's end.

Whoops! Almost slipped there, Glorfindel. Just what did Jud think he heard when he heard Glorfindel say "Mo..." I wonder? Mithrellas and Nimrodel pretending to be cold was rather funny. What is the Thing by the Tarn? I know, I know, I must be patient... Sigh. I suppose it was too much to hope for that Marian and Deirdre would take the protest lying down. They were so proud of those horrid costumes, and they can't like losing control of the Academy like this. That said, unless Marian is an administrator of the Northern Lights Community College and has jurisdiction over non-classtime activities, I am not entirely certain that she was within her authority to do anything more than take back the stolen costume, until such time as the petition was actually presented to her. If she wasn't, shame on her. Speaking of the stolen costume, I neglected to mention my glee in my previous review when I saw that Elladan and Elrohir have embraced the very peculiar family tradition of Noble Burglary, in the footsteps of Beren and Isildur. Amusing though this take on elves-pretending-to-be-mortals is, I really do hope the Elves get to go home, either in this story or in a sequel. Because whenever I get to thinking too much about them, modern day Elf stories universally take on a certain bitterness, even if it wasn't really intended by the author. Personally, the idea of having to spend years pretending to be someone or something other than myself isn't my idea of a good time; it's really more of a nightmare. Since they aren't open about their immortality, they can't form anything more than a casual friendship with any mortal, as they have to remake their identities every 20 or so years to keep anyone from noticing that they aren't aging. The consequences of discovery, and the reason for their subterfuge, are more chilling: If they were discovered by the wrong people, and it was decided they weren't human, and therefore not people...well, that is when people do the most terrible things to each other. Author Reply: Hi Parmalokwen. Yes, things are pretty tricky for the Elves, especially in this day and age with computers and passports and all that. As to what the fate of these particular Elves will be, that remains to be seen, but I think you will not find it objectionable. Marian probably overstepped her authority, but the damage was already done so I don't think anyone really cared. We will see in the next chapter how Glorfindel solves the uniform problem to the satisfaction of the students if not the administration. *grin*

Oooh! More mystery! Something sleeps there... hmm... And I am curious to see the reaction to the Fashion Rebellion! The administration has got to be a little ticked off... but what did they expect? Author Reply: Hi, Dreamflower. Yes, more mystery! *grin* We will see in the next chapter what the outcome of the Fashion Rebellion is. The Elves are on the warpath and there is no stopping them now. *grin*

The Watcher in the Water is creepy to think about, and I hope it stays asleep. However, I think some of the trees are already a little awake because they aren't trees. Most of the Elves took ship, but what about the other more-or-less immortals? Like Fanghorn and the Huorns? Author Reply: Hi Lynn. Well, I am not sure if Ents and Huorns survived into the present age, but certainly the trees are coming awake with the presence of the Elves and perhaps the Valar. As for the Watcher in the Water.... hopefully it will remain asleep for a very long time unless someone stupidly disturbs it the way the Dwarves of Moria disturbed the Balrog by digging too deeply.
