Had to wait until after my vacation to see how Alex is doing. Not so well as it seems. He obviously has a bad concussion. I'm not so sure allowing him to "finish" the race was such a good idea. But probably better for his peace of mind. Loved the welcome committee at the finish line. What did Junior do in his head? Oh, well, I have several more chapters to read, so I will hopefully find out. Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. Alex needed to finish the race for himself. We'll see how he fares with the concussion. Thanks for reviewing. It's appreciated.

*sigh* It sounds as if you thought up a few great races and other contests. Why did you have to ruin that? :( Glad the Elves found Alex and he seems to have gotten off comparatively well – I mean, without broken bones and all that, even if he's probably one huge bruise all over his body. This obsession to finish the race, however, sounds a bit worrying. I wonder what is behind it? And who on earth is Junior? Is that another Alex-Artemus problem? In any case, it's amazing that he actually managed to reach the finish line under these circumstances. It was great that the others gave him such a welcome; it might have helped him a bit. Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Alex needed to finish the race for his own sake if for no one elses. And Junior is the same Junior from Alex's dream, the friend he'd been forced to kill on orders of the Agency. That death has always haunted him. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Awww, Atto. Poor Alex (again. You make us say that a lot, lol.) I'm glad the Elves helped him to finish the race. Finishing is more important than winning, I think, because finishing, no matter what place you're in, means not giving up. So is Junior going to be in Alex's head now? I wonder just what Junior was saying to egg Alex on...hmmmm...lol. Unless it was just left over from Alex's dream. If I was in Amroth's position, with a protege and all but foster-son I loved who'd been injured, I would've freaked out, but then I'm not thousands of years old, so perhaps that has something to do with it. He'll probably go on and get what needs doing done, and save his freaking out for...hmm, not Nimrodel, she might be upset by it. For Ron, probably. Well, hopefully this thing with Junior will get sorted out eventually and Alex will learn to ask for help more often. (Speaking of people named Ron, oh, don't I wish Vorondur could meet my Ada. Someone needs to give him help, I swear. I can't do it for him, Atto. I just wish I knew what to say to him, but I can't see him as much as he wants me to. How do I tell him no without him getting angry with me? We're talking about the man who disowned my sister for half an hour in the car because he didn't listen when she told him our trip to San Diego wasn't a family vacation, she was going to Comic-Con and needed a ride, and me and Ada could do stuff together down there. *sighs*) Author Reply: Yes, poor Alex again. Finishing is important, more so than winning and he needed to finish the race for his own sake, if no one else's. Amroth was probably freaked, but knew that being hysterical wouldn't help Alex. I'm sure he had a long talk with Ron later. Thanks for commenting. Tye-melin.

Gonna up the "poor Alex" count...POOR ALEX! How many times has he been knocked out at this point? We need to start a count. ;) I suspect it will happen many more times. But even when he was delirious, he really is such a strong and stubborn person. Good for him. Looking forward to Friday's update! Whispy Author Reply: Hi Whispy. Yeah, it's hard to keep track of the number of times, but I think the count at this point is three if you include his near-drowning at the tarn. And he is a very strong and stubborn person, which I suppose is a good thing considering his line of work. *grin* Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's much appreciated.

Poor Alex--it appears that this course of becoming a Christmas Elf is intent on keeping him ill, injured, or recovering almost constantly. Author Reply: Poor Alex, indeed, Larner, and he really doesn't want to be a Christmas Elf anyway. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

The best thing about holidays is coming back to find multiple chapters. So many things have happened! The snowstorm, Glorfindel grieving... Aw, Derek & Alex are calling each other gwador now! And Derek knows! And Farrell...tch! May he have sores in uncomfortable places. Poor Alex, seems that the universe is out to get him, lately! Enjoying as always, thank you Fiondil! /stops abusing the exclamation point Author Reply: Hi bookworm. Yeah, I can imagine it's like being a kid in a candy store. LOL! Glad you enjoyed the chapters. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

It is bad enough that you leave cliffhangers strew about SoA.... But now, your resolution of such cliffhangers is almost as bad as a cliffhanger itself. I was eating my fingers (the nails long since gone!) I'm wondering if the Valar had any idea of the repercussions of bringing 'junior' to Alex's mind.... Great chapter! Author Reply: Sorry, Agape. We'll see how Alex fares now that he's finished the race in the next chapter, though he's not completely out of the woods as far as his injuries are concerned, as we will see. And you may be correct that the Valar, or rather the Maiar, may not have thought out all the possible repercussions of bringing 'Junior' to Alex's mind, but we will see later on that his remembering 'Junior' will prove important to Alex. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

The Army of Light is truly forming; I actually got chills reading about the students cheering him on for that last bit! And Glorfindel's got a new level of respect for Alex, addled or no. Very good! Amroth was right - Alex is certainly one very special guy. He and Derek make a formidable team. Author Reply: Yes it is, Lyana. I'm sure Glorfindel is seeing Alex in a new light and he and Derek do indeed make a formidable team. Thanks for commenting. I very much appreciate it.

This was a fantastic chapter! It was clearly heartbreaking when he was found and not really all there and probably caught up in his hallucination talking to Junior. It would seem Alex is "an accident going some place to happen" kind of guy. First it was his near drowning, then the Norovirus, now going down a hill with a small avalanche and avoiding trees. What's next? Either that or I'm going to go with Murphy's Law: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong". But either way you gotta admire Alex for wanting to finish the rest of the race. I have to agree with 6336 with all the games being played with a twist in them. I think I would like to try out for a couple of those races as well just for the fun of it! Great chapter and can't wait to see what kind of more trouble Alex will get into next. Author Reply: Hi Clouded Leopard. I'm glad you found this to be a fantastic chapter and heartbreaking as well. And you have to admire him for wanting to finish the race. He's the sort that refuses to give up no matter what. Thanks for taking the time to review. I appreciate it very much.

Oh,ouch! Alex, you gotta look where you're going Kid! On the other hand, Woo, Hoo! Way to go Alex!!!! It's a good feeling to finish a thing against obsticals, falling down a cliff and embracing a tree is a good example of an obstical, but oh, boy he is going to be one soild bruise from head to toe! And just where were the Maia in all of this or are they behind the conversation with Junior? The other activities sounded like fun, I make a mean Chili but I don't think I would be any good at climbing over barrels! Waiting for Friday, Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Yes, Alex is going be in a lot of pain for a while and his recovery will not be quick as we will see. Perhaps the Maiar were behind the conversation with Junior or perhaps Alex's own subconscious supplied the conversation as a goad to get him moving. Who can really say? Anyway, I'm glad you liked the descriptions of the other activities. Thanks for reviewing. You know how much I appreciate you doing so.
