| Great story, Love the part about 'Elessar still being new to the king business'. I am with the innkeeper thought's that Carandol needs a reminder that this was no ordinary man to go triflin' with. | Woah, what the heck did Carandol do now? Wonderful description of "the war raging inside Elessar", "grey eyes clouded"--man and sovereign fighting. Kind of scary. I agree with Master InnKeeper "the return of the king right now wouldn't be so bad. "After all, my Queen and I make an unlikely pair. Why not these two?” He shrugged, picked up his wine goblet, and went off to settle himself by the fire.---This paragragh gave me a smile..so easy going... until Carandol pushed his button! This has got to be one of my favorites from the "Tales of the Innkeeper"! More, More, More! | A sharp one, that innkeeper! But perhaps he doesn't realize that what makes Elessar such a *good* King is that he doesn't try too hard to suppress Aragorn the man--remembering that he's only human himself helps him to be more just and merciful than one who always thought himself above others--like the *old* Steward... | Well Met, Allee! I just spent an enjoyable evening, reading each one of the vignettes about our good Innkeeper and his encounters with Lord Elfstone. So, I shall elave my thoughts for all, in one review. Each tale stands alone on its own merits, and each one is a part of the ongoing tale of the King's wintering in this humble, pleasant place. As is with many things, the humble becomes noble, with understanding. I do enjoy the sidestory of Carandol and Silima, and the growth of the young lad in the King's company. Also, the reactions the Kin displays with various and sundry encounters. You have plainly done a good deal of work and thought to making this! I enjoyed your works, and eagerly look forward to hearing them continue! I Am, HALROHIR Author Reply: Well Met, Halrohir! I'm so glad that you've enjoyed your time with Master Innkeeper. I've enjoyed seeing Elessar through his eyes. This story began from a single vignette, which I never intended to develop any further. When I later included the characters Silima and Carandol, it was something of a surprise to me . . . and now here I am with a subplot built around those two. | A war that I hope neither part wins entirely for the King needs the Man but your Innkeeper is right to say that the Kingdom needs a King that may appear to be more than the Common Man Author Reply: Ah, yes. How true--if he is to lead with wisdom and compassion, the King most definitely needs the man. What a challenge to preserve the man while maintaining the comportment of a sovereign. | This is a nice insight, Allee. What a change for Aragorn. Of course, he's been shifting identities all his life. I don't know whether that's because he's a man of great depth or great conflict. Author Reply: Hi daw, Ah--great question: does Aragorn owe his identity shifts to great depth or great conflict? Probably both, I think. Certainly, the great conflict *enhanced* the great depth.
