When it came time to awaken, he would simply refuse to do so. And that's what he did, the stubborn Baggins. But the combined power of Gandalf and Elrond was apparently too much for him. Now I hope, Pippin's plans to cheer him up will work out. Author Reply: This should be fun!

Poor Frodo--it does seem too much to have to drain the wound for a fourth time! No wonder he doesn't want to awaken. But Gandalf knows how to awaken him, I see. Yes, Hobbits can certainly be stubborn, and this Baggins is often the most stubborn of the lot! Author Reply: Thanks for taking the time to review! It is always appreciated.

Now, this is quite the sacrifice to contemplate, much less carry through on! But it will hopefully be worth it for both of them! Author Reply: It should make for an interesting chapter nonetheless.

Elrond is so wise... and so sneaky! What a marvelous suggestion, to have Aragorn 'test' the curative which will help him, as well. I believe the Ring and Frodo are engaged in a great war of wills with one another and it is this that has robbed him of any progress he should have made in his recuperation. Poor Frodo. What an exhausting, courageous battle. Author Reply: I admit I trapped myself just before this chapter, on how to explain the malaise. The next chapter should be interesting, don't you think?

I am just into chapter 2 and enjoying it immensely. I do enjoy elvish medicinal treatments too. It lends such depth and authenticity to the story. HOWEVER, if you are not going to research the herbs you reference, at least offer a prominent disclaimer the this is just for fun and not to be taken as genuine herbal advice. The case in point here is Arnica, which, according to a number of sources that I have, has never been known to have antibiotic properties. If I am mistaken and you do have a resource that references antibiotic properties for Arnica, I beg your pardon. I would be interested in adding that source to my library. Please e-mail me. I am returning now to your excellent story. Thank you Author Reply: Thank you so much for your review! Just so you know, I do extensive research on all of the herbs involved so that it stays true to the story. You can check here about the healing attributes of arnica. http://www.naturalnews.com/029118_arnica_healing.html# I hope you'll continue to read and enjoy the story.

Wonderful! Sometimes a simple bath is all that is needed - at least for Aragorn and Frodo. But why was Sam so angry? Because of what Frodo said to Elrond, or is it something else?

Oh, dear--get him nicely clean, warm, and relaxed, and then have a confrontation with a decidedly angry Sam Gamgee! At least Aragorn is being amused. Heh!

Pip, if you didn’t do the things you do you wouldn’t be my Pip. You’d be boring like Merry Love it. Such a delightful chapter, with baths and hair washings and sweet hobbity care.

Frodo can be VERY stubborn at times! And now I am very interested to find out how the others persuaded him to accompany him much further than the borders of Imladris. Author Reply: So true....I am sure once the others realize what Frodo intends, he will get an earful. thanks so much for reading and reviewing.

Accepting that he cannot do it alone and that no one can take the blame for their current circumstances save for the Ring Itself is not an easy thing for Frodo to do, of course. Hopefully a good sleep will help him recover faster. Author Reply: He is so stubborn and does seem to over think things, hopefully he will come to his senses Author Reply: He is so stubborn and does seem to over think things, hopefully he will come to his senses.
