The Rings of Evendim  by shirebound 15 Review(s)

So, another amazing couple of chapters! The gems from tree bark -- that was great! Yes, Gimli and Legolas would especially find those significant, given their friendship and backgrounds. No need to worry that your wares won't be good enough for them -- these people fought long and hard through all sorts of conditions, and appreciate all different cultures who would be friends...

Author Reply: What a challenge it was to imagine these snow folk, and what would drive a delegation of them southwards. Perhaps someday another fanfic writer will investigate their culture more than I was able to.

How wonderful that the death of the Witch King should benefit these people too. I love the cuture you have created for them. My apologies for being so behind, I need to clear out my mailbox so I'll find the story alerts for those I look forward to!

Author Reply: Thank you for reading, Linda. I don't think I've ever created a culture for a race of people before, and it's challenging and fun to build on the tiny clues the Professor left for us.

This was very sweet, and of course I loved anything to do with the dogs and the mention of Huan- interesting that he figures in their legends! (And I wouldn't let the children have the maple candy, if it were up to me! *g*)

Author Reply: Thank you, my friend. These folk have the Valar and their stories woven into the fabric of their culture, so I imagine that valiant Huan was also known to them. *grins*

Frodo son of Drogo, who guards your generous gift so fiercely from the greed of his countrymen

I've quite forgotten that the gifts are actually sweets heheh, the King sure does have his sense of humour *loves*

Another fine update, Janet!

Author Reply: Thank you, my friend! I believe that Elessar would be especially relaxed and teasing around his beloved hobbits, especially since he's known them (in this AU) since they were youngsters.

Another delightful chapter! Trust yourself write dogs most convincingly!

I'm not surprised to see Elessar and the snow people of Forochel getting along so well. I'm sure as they get to know each other better, they'll get along even more.

Author Reply: Both my Pippin-pup, and everything I imagined about Scamp, years ago, are certainly wonderful Muses. I'm so pleased your enjoyed this. :)

It's my belief that people of good will who truly want to communicate, and understand one another, will find ways to do so.

“Puppies!” the seven-year old cried out with joy

*grins* To young Pippin every dog is a puppy - no matter how big it really is!

A great new chapter! I'm quite sure that both parties will find many goods to trade with - especially the amber. (Is that the name for the stone? In German it is called Bernstein.)

Author Reply: Thank you! Yes, we call it amber. Thank you for the translation. :)

Puppies make everything better. And when I can bring together puppies and hobbits... *fluffy contentment*

Another very sweet chapter. (-: It's very comforting to hear about a global warming that is benign, unlike ours. It makes sense that the end of Sauron would bring about such greening for them.

Author Reply: Thank you. The Professor's one mention that the Snow-people believed the Witch-king had some power over their weather really inspired me.

give them hound please. :)

Author Reply: I can't promise anything, but I'm enjoying the hounds as well. :)

Today is Embrace Your Geekness Day (My sister found that obscure holiday on a website somewhere - how fun!), so part of my celebration is reading your sweet chapter here. It is neat to find these peoples getting along so well. Like Aragorn offering his and it being taken. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you so much. And I'm pleased to be part of the EYGD celebration. :)

What a delightful chapter, so full of good news for both the hosts and for the new and unexpected guests!

I love the various reactions to the dogs and to the gifts the new people brought with them. And I loved the snow-people's reactions to the sight of Annuminas and to the news that Angmar was gone.

This is such a fun story, dear!

Author Reply: Thank you! Each chapter is very nearly a blank slate until I sit down to write it, so I'm enjoying the unfolding of this story as much as anyone. What a joy to be able to imagine these events any way I like, and allow them to be happy and productive for all concerned.
