The Rings of Evendim  by shirebound 15 Review(s)

A lovely interlude as the two groups get to know one another more. And what child can possibly resist a dog? *grin* I look forward to seeing what has brought the Northmen so far from home and what Elessar will do.

Author Reply: *grins back* I was six when our family got the dog I grew up with, and know how wonderful they are. I was sneaking pups into my stories many, many years before my dog Pippin and I adopted one another; it's such a joy to continue to fill the hobbits' lives with these sweet beings.

The Northmen have courageously traveled all this way solely because of the dream Lord Irmo sent, and the faith that this journey will benefit their people.

I am absolutely fascinated by these people of the north and devoured this chapter with much less decorum than Frodo with the birch sugar sweeties!

Author Reply: Thank you for that wonderful compliment! When I started writing, I had only the vaguest idea about these folks, but with each chapter they reveal more of themselves to me. I'm delighted that you're enjoying this so much.

Yes, dogs can make friends everywhere. Thank you.

Author Reply: As a happy dog-mommy, I completely agree. :)

I'm enjoying this so much. I can understand He-án's concerns at the first sight of Annúminas. It had to be overwhelming for him and his people. I love his reactions to the Hobbit's. I don't think they will be disappointed with their trade offerings. :)

Author Reply: I'm so happy you're enjoying this story. It's a true pleasure to bring these scenes to life, and be able to share them.

Trust the children to expect the dogs to be gentle right off! And of course it would be little Pippin who would immediately run right up to them and want to hug them! And love that the older Pippin helps them accept that they do have something to trade!

How much each side has to share with the other!

Author Reply: It would be so couragous of these folk to undertake a long journey without really knowing what or who would be awaiting them. I just love it when people can find 'common ground' and discover that each of them have something to learn from -- and contribute to -- the other.
