Trust a Brandybuck and a Took!  by Grey Wonderer 16 Review(s)

That was awesome. I loved it. I had a vague idea where it was going at a little past halfway through. It was hilarious and Freddy is correct, Pippin is deeper than he lets on.

The goats. Oh man so funny.

Author Reply: For some reason I always find goats amusing. Glad you did too. Thanks for reading this and leaving a lovely review. I think Pippin is much deeper than most believe him to be.

Incredibly convoluted!

And a very good characterization of Freddy.

Author Reply: My life is rather convoluted so that was the 'simple' part for me. LOL

Glad you liked this version of Freddy. I have always enjoyed him as a character. Thank you for the review!

That was great, G.W.!
Freddy was obviously too much engaged in "mental back patting" to see this coming ;-)

And I just loved this statement:
“See if Merry does something to me before I do something to him then the something that I am planning to do will be spoiled,” Pippin said rapidly. “If I do my something first then Merry might think again before he does his something and if Merry is doing something to someone else then what I am doing to Merry might spoil Merry’s plan and I don’t want to do that. Do you see?”

That's just Pippin!

Thank you!

Author Reply: Thank you! I sometimes wonder what it would be like to write an entire story in the sort of Pippin-speak (Pippish) but then I am very sure that no one could read something written that way. LOL Thanks for reviewing!

I must say, it's about time Freddy got his comeuppance. There's only so long that he could continue without someone getting wise to his ways. Good for the cousins to cooperate in this prank!
And Saradoc's putting a stop to it all was, shall we say, Masterful.
Well done again, Grey Wonderer!

Blessings,
Mum

Author Reply: Saradoc had to step in before I ran out of pranks. LOL Freddy finally got what was coming to him. You just can't play both ends against the middle and get away with it for very long. I guess Freddy has the satisfaction of knowing that it took three of them to take him down. Thanks for the review and take care!

What a prank! Fredregar really did have it coming. I love all the incredible details you put in here, from the elaborate plans to poor Freddy smelling like goat, and then Pippin trying to talk Saradoc out of the signed agreement at the end. I laughed so much while reading this. Great work, GW! :)

Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed it. It was longer than I meant for it to be when I first started it but it took some time to set up the prank. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I am always happy when someone gets a laugh out of one of these.

Oh, thank you so much GW!!!

This was beyond all my expectations. I was laughing till I had tears in my eyes!

You pulled one over on me, too, for I thought that what was happening was Freddy leading the same one goat in and out of the window all day! It never occurred to me that they would put them in the Master's study.

I just adore the way Freddy fell for Pippin's seeming guilelessness, and for Merry's distraction. And I really love that Frodo knew at a glance just what had really happened.

I do believe that Freddy has learned at least *one* lesson: never to try and play off Pippin against Merry, or vice versa. It can't really be done, can it?

What wonderful distraction from the storm!!!

Author Reply: So glad that you enjoyed what I did with your bunny. I am afraid that the coins didn't figure into things for very long but I did get them in there. I just needed to write a story about goats. LOL Freddy got all that he deserved and a bit more for his trouble. The entire time I was writing the bit about the goats being led into the room, I kept hearing Julie Andrews singing the "Little Goat Herd" from "The Sound of Music". It is the first time that I have truly wished that one of my stories had a sound track. Take care and thank you again for Pooka and the plot for this story.
