Trust a Brandybuck and a Took!  by Grey Wonderer 18 Review(s)
AndreaReviewed Chapter: 53 on 8/15/2006
“I want to miss you a very Pippy bithday, Hap,” Merry grinned.

“No, it’s Hippy Pipday, Merry,” Pippin corrected.

“That’s not right,” Merry frowned. “I think it’s Hap-ty birthpippin’s day! That’s what it is. So Hap-ty to you, Pip!”

ROTFL!!! Oh my, even while I'm writing this, I can't stop giggling :)
Splendid story, GW!

"The only thing that can be said of it is that it will get you very drunk in a very short time.”

"Baggins Brew", ey? And there I thought Bilbo managed to "tame" that rascal of a hobbit! Well, it seems I'm wrong - and I love it ;-)

Author Reply: Yes, you can't ever completely tame Frodo. Even Bilbo wasn't up to that job. I love Frodo's spirit and I also enjoy showing that before Merry and Pippin turned the Shire on its ear, Frodo had done so several times! Thanks for laughing and for taking the time to review!

Wonderful story! Merry and Pip stories are always delightful but when they're even sillier because they're drunk I can't help but giggle right along with them! Thank you and well done! Nice plot and I love the surprise ending. It's always nice to see Frodo make an appearance even if he's not a main character.

Author Reply: I do enjoy Frodo. I like to surprise him now again and he nearly always winds up involved in some way with those Brandybuck and Took characters. So glad you enjoyed this and thank you for reviewing!

“Do you want me to more us some pour?” Pippin asked and then he hic-upped. He grinned at Merry and said, “I mean do you want me to pour us some pour?”
***************************

“Merry, you’re my favorite cousin. Of all of the cousins that I have, and I have a lot of cousins, you’re the one cousin that is my favorite of all of them.”

“I’m my favorite too,” Merry grinned and he reached over to get the big green bottle so that he could refill their glasses again.
***********************

“It’s still half full,” Merry said.

Pippin smiled. “So the bottom of it is still full even if the top of it is empty. So some of this bottle is still very full even now after all this pouring and pouring.”

Merry drank from his glass and then burped. They both laughed again.

I'd best quit or I'll just quote the whole story back to you, LOL

This is sooooooooooooooo funny and wonderful, GW Thank you for a great laugh.

Author Reply: Thank you for letting me know which were your favorite parts! I love it when something that I thought was funny at three in the morning actually turns out to amuse others. Thank you so much for the wonderful review! Hippy Pipday to you!

Heehee! Drunk hobbits are so fun. I hope Merry and Pippin stay away from "Baggins Brew" in the future! :)

Author Reply: I think once will be enough for both of Merry and Pippin when it comes to Baggins Brew! Then again, we are talking about Merry and Pippin so.....

“The more we drink the lower it goes and the oldest part of it will be the part that went into the bottle first and so that part will come out of the bottle last. The better it is, the older it is.”

I do love Pip-logic! :D

Author Reply: Pippin does look at things from a whole new angle doesn't he? And when under the influence of Baggins Brew he gets even more outlandish. Thanks for reading!

This is so funny! I love Pippin's logic (if you can call it that) in this. He has *obviously* learned an awful lot from Merry over the years about being devious, and splitting hairs, LOL!

And Merry,so reasonable and careful at first, lost his judgment very quickly once the brew hit his system.

But the best part was Frodo. I nearly choked trying to be quiet, when he revealed the origins of the "big green bottle".

What I'd love to know is if he ever revealed his knowledge--did he rather gloatingly help them through their hangovers, rubbing it in as to what they'd been drinking? Or did he pretend not to notice? I'd love to hear the cousins discussing this years later--maybe on the Quest. It would be hilarious.

Author Reply: A review complete with a little plot bunny!
So glad you enjoyed this one. Yes, Pip has been paying attention to all of Merry's plots and so he now can use this knowledge to get himself into trouble without consulting Merry. LOL This time he brought Merry along for the ride.

I liked the idea of taking one of Frodo's adventures and mixing it with a current plot of Pippin's. I could just see the look on his face when he found that bottle along with his drunken cousins.

As to the plot bunny, I may just have to feed that and see what grows. Maybe I could give the bunny some Baggins Brew! I am sure that can't be the only bottle left.

Oh this sounds fun GW - the punishment is definitely going to fit this crime. The rules of politeness seem to have overruled Merry's commonsense. So! A new version of the counting song eh? "695 green bottles hiding in the cellar.... one got poured out...."

Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed it! In this case I do believe you are right about the punishment but I wonder if the song will catch on? Now, that might be trouble. LOL
Just want to thank you for the lovely review and for reading. Your review for this story is number 500 for Brandybuck and Took! Talk about counting! I never imagined that this little group of stories would go on for so long or receive such a warm response. Thank you for stopping by so often and for taking the time to review!
