| Merry is a very clever hobbit - but he's outsmarted himself here! Hoist with his own petard. Love the length of time it took Pippin to catch on. It must be horrible to hang upside down with all the blood rushing to your head. And probably bad for you. Cleverly written tale. Author Reply: Thank you! In this case, Merry out-smarted himself by doing too good of a job on the snare, but failing to have a back-up plan. Guess they will have to rely on Pippin's begging.
