Wow...that's sad. Poor Merry and Pippin--so wretched after their Journey. You capture it all so wonderfully! Ivy is so cute! I'm glad to see you didn't abandon the old farm at Whitwell, either! ;-) You're so right; it represents their childhood innocence--taken and now jaded by the world of the Big Folk. Great writing, Grey Wonderer!

Author Reply: It is sad and I can't usually do sad for very long. I do have one chapter up that's a bit light-hearted near the end of what is currently posted. This story is one of my accidents. I was trying to write one thing and got this instead! As to the little farm, I love it in your stories and so I did want someone to still be there. I think of it as their family home. Well, off to read a new chapter of Roses!

It must be very disorienting for Pippin to have no place to call home, especially after coming back from such a long and ardorous journey. He wasn't the only thing to change while he was away.

Author Reply: No, and I do think that he probably didn't consider the Great Smials his home at first. It takes a while for some places to become a home. Thank you for reading this.

Merry putting off going to sleep must have been very hard! His trying to keep from facing such frightening mightmares and then when he did dream hurting his mum! I can't even imagin how terrible he must be feeling! Poor, lad!

Sweet Pippin determined not to wake Pervinca up with his own nightmares is very thoughtful but I rather have the feeling she probably wouldn't mind. She must be having some nightmares of her own!

Thank you for another chapter! Looking forward to some more!

Author Reply: You will learn more about Pervinca and her troubles as this one goes along. This time, Pippin isn't the only Took with worries. Thank you for reading and for leaving such lovely reviews. There will be more chapters up sometime this weekend.

Oh no! What a hoirrible experience it must have been for Saradoc and Esmeralda to find their loved one in such distress and terror. Poor, poor Merry too!

I think that all the hobbits needs to meet up soon, because they think that eveyrone else is doing fine, when none of them really are well or fine at all.

Awww, what a heartwrenching picture you paint! Poor Merry! Poor Pippin! Poor Esmie and Doc! I'll be glad when you get them into their house at Crickhollow. My poor, poor hobbitses! Another marvelous chapter! :-)

Author Reply: Thank for reading and reviewing. I am afraid that we have a bit to go before we settle much in this one so stick with me. There's more of this to come, probably over the weekend. Thanks, again!

This is promising to become an excellent series!

You have a lovely 'voice' for both Merry and Pippin. You portray them so well here, as troubled adults, instead of overgrown children, or nasty perverted creatures.

This has been a joy to read so far, and I'm truly looking forward to the next chapters. I hope there are a lot of them.

I've very much enjoyed so many of your stories -- especially "The Road Less Traveled", "Thinking of You", "Downpour", "Echoes", "Many Happy Returns", and "Trust a Brandybuck and a Took".

Author Reply: I am thrilled that you have read all of those stories! I know that a couple of them are fairly long and "Road Less Traveled" was my very first fiction. It is very nice to hear that you enjoyed it because it is the one that I experimented on and learned during. There will be quite of few more chapters on this one, but I am not sure exactly how many. I thank you for the lovely reviews and the kind words. It always helps to know that someone is reading!

Very good chapter! It was filled with so much emotion. Poor Merry and Pippin, I hope Frodo's solution comes into play soon. I am really looking forward to next chapter.

Author Reply: The next chapter is being worked on a bit, but should be up by the weekend. I am very pleased that you are enjoying this and thanks so much for the reviews.

You're posting these chapters faster then I can read them at the moment:)

It's sad to see how those nightmares influence Merry and Pippin's lifes (and that of their families). It's very thoughtfull of Frodo to offer them Crickhollow (at least, that's what I think is in those letters :)).

Author Reply: The letters may surprise you. It may be a few days before I post more of this as I am working out some minor things in the next chapter. That gives you a break. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

How very dificult for Merry and Pippin! Poor Merry wandering around Brandy Hall and then when he went to breakfast he didn't know which one it was! I liked how he found the answer with out having to answer the question!

Poor Pippin! Riding all night to a house he feels he needs and not remembering that it was already someone else's! I really like your Pearl, she is so sweet and kind. She seems to understand Pippin the best with him having to say the least. Maybe he is able to open up more to her. It is splendid either way.

I'm sorry that Frodo is having such a hard time writing, but I guess that could only be expected! Dear, Sam always knows just what to do, and it takes a lot to fool him. Good thing he is still there for Frodo! Looking forward to more, thank you!

Author Reply: All of them are haing a bad time of it just now, but at least Frodo does have Sam and just like always, Sam will take care of Mister Frodo as best he can. Thank you for this lovely review and I'm pleased that you enjoyed Pearl in this part.

It`s good to see Frodo and Sam too. Poor hobbits. I just want to gather them all up in a large hug.

Author Reply: Now, that hug business sounds like fun! Frodo and Sam will be back again in this one. I like lots of hobbits in my stories. Thanks again, for reading!
