So why am I all tense and worried anyway? This was also an excellent use of the nightmare about Denethor/Faramir morphing into Paladin/Pippin. I used that one myself some time back. It only makes sense for the identification to be there when there is a bit of tension between them (or in your case, outright estrangement). And I loved Diamond's logic--she would hold Merry's hand, and send her love to Pippin through him. Somehow that seems a very hobbity way of looking at the situation. Sounds interesting, and now that I've finished writing this story (just a couple more chapters to be posted, unless they split themselves in the editing), I'd love to read it. Very glad to hear that Diamond's logic made sense. We're studying electricity right now, and while it would be a foreign notion to a hobbit, the image sticks with me, somehow.
