| Aredhel settled the two from his lap on the counterpane, against his feet, then gently lifted the "little 'un" from her cosy place on Frodo's chest and tucked her against her brothers. The furry huddle squirmed for a few seconds, then settled down again. How sweet! I love the expression "furry huddle". It's quite descriptive :) Not only Frodo, but also Sam get all the comfort they deserve in this little story. As always, Sam had to be persuaded to accept it. Safe at last in the King's keeping - what else could they wish for! Author Reply: Isn't that a sweet expression? That's one of Mews's gems. Glad you enjoyed this! | Awww. Delightful. There's rather a large dog at my feet at the moment, washing her paws as if in imitation of some small kitten somewhere. The kittens were perfect, reminding me of a quote I read somewhere about "the drugged, trusting sleep of a kitten". There were so many little touches--the talk about wondering if they were in the world of the living, the calming effect of the kittens, the comfort that surrounded them, the understanding between the two, and the hobbity observation that Aragorn would make a good king, based on the food he sent them... (just for a few) Author Reply: Thank you, Lindelea. Both Mews and I (and Aragorn and Sam, of course) always try to make sure Frodo has the most gentle, loving, and undivided attention of his caregivers. | |

| Lovely, Shirebound. The final scene of Aragorn finding Frodo and Sam asleep with the kittens is my favorite. ...and the King of the West bent to stroke her soft head before bestowing a gentle kiss on the brow of each hobbit, safe at last in his keeping. This last sentence really struck me. Would that we were all in Aragorn's safekeeping *sigh*. Being a cat-lover myself, I really liked this. A nice little movie gap-filler.
