I haven't reviewed in a horribly long time. Sorry.

Well, I have nothing to say except that Thranduil should get to kick Annatar's butt. He pisses me off.

Anyways, great work so far. I'm quite excited that the new chapters are coming more quickly. Sweetness!

I'm not sure Thranduil is quite up to that yet, but it would sure be nice. ;)

My goodness - what a wonderful story! I'm waiting in the worst suspense to find out what happens next. You truly have a gift for imagination and creating new worlds within Tolkien's. Thanks so much for taking the time to continue writing this history! :) I've enjoyed it since the first story started. I also love the use of Scripture references. Very good work!

Thanks! ^_^ I'm glad I've been able to pick this story up again. It has proven itself very time consuming, so I guess summertime is the best time.
Ah, yes. The déxtera eórum repléta est munéribus particularly struck me, since it's from the Tridentine Mass of Tolkien's day. ;)

So, Thranduil isn't part of the 'IN' crowd? He must be SO disappointed. I love the way the story is unfolding. This explains why Thranduil doesn't have a ring, and yet he is the last true Elvenking of Middle Earth.

Author Reply:
No, Thranduil never seems to be really a part of the foremost 'IN' crowd, though he occasionally gets his foot in the door. He IS his own 'in' crowd. ;) Somehow he and Treebeard would have many things in common.

My, this chapter was full of very *nice* exchanges! :D But, I did like the last with Celeborn for its foreboding a revolt - which Thranduil may be around to witness! Yay! Loved your descriptions of the dreadful pall Annatar can exert.

That some suspect the worse and dare not speak it, else it be made true too soon... ominous.

Thank you. ^_^ When I'm writing it can be hard to tell if the dialogue is coming across as it ought, but it seems to be doing a decent job. It's hard to do justice to all these incredible characters. ;)

“We know how to defend our own.”

Bloody well right! And we know Thranduil proves that too! I'd say Sauron ought to be glad he was talking to Thranduil because Oropher would have intitiated the Second War of Wrath right there. Thranduil is lucky he's an elf because a man of similar temperment would have poped a blood vessel. Poor Celeborn. I'm almost afraid to know what you plan to have Thrandui do!

Author Reply:
Oh, it gets interesting, let me assure you. ;)
Hehehe, "the Second War of Wrath" -- I like it. I mean, everybody knows Thranduil can defend Greenwood. Yet as I was writing this dialogue it occurred to me that they really haven't done anything to prove it yet, and Sauron knows it. Just writing it made me mad right along with Thranduil! Worse, the next time Greenwood goes to war will be the Last Alliance, and we all know how that fell out.

Thranduil isn't even quite sure what he's going to do now, but true to form, he's going to do something regardless.

Do you know, it took me forever to figure out who Annatar is going to become. Um, I haven't read the books in far too long? I think so.

Anyway, it's really wonderful and I'm happy you are updating. This is the only fanfic I read anymore, so...I check back really often.

Make today a good day and God bless.

Really? Wow, that's a nice endorsement. ^_^ I've been having incredible brainstorms all of a sudden, so I expect the updates to keep coming.

Writing "Annatar" has been a real challenge so far. After associating him with a huge roaring eyeball for so long, it's hard to imagine him having an intelligible conversation!

Have a lovely week, and God bless you, too. ;)

very dark and i like how thranduil and celeborn can see through the Lord of Gifts

Author Reply:
Several others can see through him as well, and we'll come to them soon. ;)

Oh my giddy aunt! THAT is a very well done Annatar. He gave me chills! My hat's off to you!

Author Reply:
Thank you! ^_^ That's good to know. I was afraid he wouldn't be intimidating enough in the end. But we certainly haven't seen the last of him.

Well, not versed in the Simarilion, I believe we've just met Sauron. Interesting introduction, Thranduil being such a strong character, Sauron's already taking his measure, no ring for him.

Celeborn's relationships with Oropher and Thranduil are such opposing facets, I wonder what he made of his introduction to Legolas in FOTR?

Author Reply:
Indeed, we have. ;)

I'm sure by the time FOTR rolled around, everything Oropher had said or done was water under the bridge. Other issues may have come up in the meantime, but we'll address them when the time comes. If I can set the scene well enough, I'd like to explore further Thranduil's relationship with Galadriel, which is the real crux of the issue.

This was such a cool chapter, I really enjoyed it, it's just a pity that there is also a serious note to it. I hope Oropher and Celeborn make peace before the end, after all, blood is thicker than water and nothing can replace a cousin, they are almost as close as a brother or sister. At least Thranduil is trying to bridge the two together, but I agree with Celeborn that Thranduil will be a better king than his father when that time comes, I really liked Oropher in the beginning and I was sad at the fact that will die in the end but now that he is king he has become more cold and more distant, I hope that he will soon learn that he needs allies like Celeborn and Gil-Galad.
I absolutely love Celebrian, there is not many stories with her in, that she is actually playing a role and Amroth is also such a cool character. Annatar doesn't seem like such a good person, I wonder what he will be like towards Thranduil once they meet. I am looking forward to the next chapter to find out.

Author Reply:
I'm glad you're enjoying it. ;) Wonder of wonders, I'm still on schedule, and the next chapter is up! And Thranduil has more than just family trouble to worry about.
