Where the Merlin Cries  by Lindelea 93 Review(s)

Hmm... just as things seemed to be going smoothly! Well you did warn us! *g* I hope that the King gets his healing hands on Ferdi before Leotred finds his hatchet.

Author Reply: Well, yes, things never *can* quite go smoothly in the Muse's stories, now, can they? The Muse has a very short attention span and is easily distracted, thus the need for the stimulus of action...

I had to laugh - I have just been travelling and camping myself with the major purpose of climbing hill and dabbling my toes in the sea!

I have a severe case of the sea-longing too and it needs assauging atr least once a year.

As for the chapter - more more more!

Author Reply: Aha! Hope you had a wonderful time. Camping is in our near future, and I certainly hope the weather stays dry.

More is on its way! Thanks for asking.

Poor Rose-lass. The fear doesn't quite give way; or is she foreseeing still another danger threatening her brother?

I, too, have the Free Fair every year, although the big years will be those when the elections take place. And I'm NOT going to take them out of my stories, either.

Author Reply: Very perceptive comment!

Oh, dear--more adventure? Are there more ruffians hanging about the area they plan to survey or something? Am glad the Mayor, Master, and Thain intend to travel together with Elf and Dwarf, and that the King and his Men are also due! That is heartening!

Author Reply: Oh, dear, yes, I'm afraid to say. This was supposed to be my stab at being unpredictable, as you may know.

Always heartening to have half the Fellowship around.

So, Nell refused to go, and it fell to Fastred and Elanor by default? Aragorn is a dear one!

Poor Pippin--with more temptation to attract awful ones into the Shire now! But he will do his best to see the Shire benefit by it, and not have it sit idle attracting dust and brigands!

Love to the Little Hobbits and the Hubby and Zoe.

Author Reply: Nice guessing, but there's more story to go...

(the Muse started wondering if Nell and Ferdi moved out to the Towers Hills, later on in life... who knows if there might be one more Nell and Ferdi story set after As the Gentle Rain...)

Gee, wouldn't it be a nice problem, having more money than you know what to do with...? At least, it seems like a nice pipe dream. The little hobbits certainly think so!

Zoe, OTOH, cares little for material things just so long as her food and water dishes are regularly supplied and walkies happen at least twice a day, if not oftener.

Oh, how I love seeing Aragorn give over his own edict at the will of Thain, Master, and Mayor. Yes, Aragorn--you are outranked here!

Oh Frabjous day! Calloo! Callay!

They are home, and Berilas, against all expectation, has his whole family back! And a foreign prince has the special honor of being allowed to join in the celebrations, and to see just how Hobbits entertain at home!

Yay, Aragorn! Hoot, hoot, hoot!

And love to the girls, hubby, and Zoe.

Author Reply: Caught your review as I stopped for a cup of tea.

Zoe is here at my feet, as usual, alternating between snoring and lifting her head upright, ears pricked, listening to the bustling in the kitchen where the girls are experimenting with the making of French Toast. Perhaps something won't quite work out and will need a dog to deal with it? Perhaps an egg will accidentally fall to the floor? Perhaps some milk will be spilt?

Our dog (Writing Partner) trainer remarked on what a happy dog she is, for her tail is always vibrating and gyrating during lessons. I think she does have a very happy life with us, for there is almost always someone at home, and there are plenty of walks and snuggles and games and accidentally dropped food.

We do love our gentle Giant.

JRRT did say that King Elessar made a point of honouring his Edict, so I hope I'm not too far out on the AU limb in this and other stories, allowing the hobbits to grant him entry for specific purposes, and on rare occasions.

A little sea sickness seems a small price to pay to get home more quickly, (but then I've never suffered it). Let the celebrations begin!!

Hoping to catch up with my reading and reviewing now the holidays are here and HP is read! Hobbits, I need Hobbits. Much better than 'He who must not.....etc!

Author Reply: I've been seasick--miserable feeling.

Hurrah for holidays! I would love to know what happened with HP and all the main characters in the end, without having to plough through the book. (I lost interest about book 4, I think. Just too many pages, and too many interruptions, and finally I just gave up.)

How wonderful--finally on their way home and eagerly anticipated! Hooray! Love the cloak made from Aragorn's own blanket! Yes, I can see him making that sacrifice gladly.

Author Reply: Yes, I can see Aragorn giving up his soft, light, yet warm blankets to keep the hobbits cosy.

Ah - lovely Gimli. He deserves much more attention. I'm glad the hobbits are making their way home - and so will they be, even if it demands a little sickness along the way.

And Fastred is making progress. Good for him.

Author Reply: You're right about Gimli! More authors need to pay attention to him!

LOL, slow and steady wins the race...

Still following Lindelea - getting a bit out of breath trying to keep up with reviewing at the moment if truth is to be told but really enjoying reading. Will have a bit more time now for a week to two!

Author Reply: O good to hear from you. I know what it's like to be busy!
