Where the Merlin Cries  by Lindelea 93 Review(s)

I'm proud of our Chancellor here. Yes, he's pulling his own weight in spite of himself. Now, if Frodo could just let go of the fear and memories and rest properly.

Lovely chapter.

Author Reply: Thanks. Yes, when he gives his word, he keeps it. (And poor Frodo... it'll take awhile for the nightmares to fade, I think.)

Wise indeed he's proing; and he's saved the two of them. Now, for them to be found, which will happen at the proper time.

Author Reply: Exactly. (And thanks for the long email, lots of food for thought to chew upon.)

What would we do without the stubborn Tooks--too stubborn to die easily, even when they think they want it. Now, to learn to live again! And he will, I know.

Author Reply: Yes, he will. (And with help, he'll even learn to see in new and different ways.)

Oh Ferdi! Trust your Friends.

It is now late evening here but when I usually coincide with you I have just dragged myself out of my pit (bed) and logged on to get my morning fix of hobbit with breakfast!

Author Reply: Hobbit with breakfast, such a lovely idea. We do "traditional English breakfast" around here on special occasions, and like to joke that's it's something to write home to the Shire about.

Oh, how wonderful to see the rescue. Now we have two more who are no longer green warriors, necessarily "blooded" as they protect not only their own but the King's party as well.

Wonderful detail, and all too likely.

Author Reply: Thanks! I figure any frontier is going to require some fortitude in the winning.

I am so glad that everyone is back together at least. Frodo's comment to Sam about the reality being much worse than the hearing really hit me.

Author Reply: I've heard it said that imagining is worse than the reality, but I think that's not always true. There's a lot I'm glad I haven't seen. Whew.

Fastred and Frodo both know there are ruffians; now to actually do something with them. Come on, you two--it's up to you to save Ferdi. And you're right--Ruffians do make wonderful villains! Heh!

Author Reply: You're right, it's up to Fastred and Frodo!

What would we do without ruffians?

Alas that there are such things as ruffians, but these Hobbits and Rangers know what they are doing and will be the equal to them. At least Ferdi woke up. Poor Hobbit.

Glad to see the watch set there near the cave--approaching ruffians will be in for a well-deserved surprise!

Author Reply: Yes, Fastred's not so innocent as he might look. And you're right, poor Ferdi. I would want to stay asleep, lost in dream, myself in his situation. Thanks!

At least King and Thain are alerted. Poor Pippin, duty can be a heavy burden.

Author Reply: Responsibility, seriously taken, can be a heavy burden indeed. (Pip needs to better learn how to delegate, poor fellow!)

Yes, I can certainly appreciate how he doesn't wish to feel helpless. Good for him. So they are at the moment safely within the cave, although such a placement might also be a trap if someone tries to smoke them out--seems that worked back in the caves near Scary to fetch out Fredegar and his fellows.

Too bad the pony couldn't properly back out in time. Poor ponies; but the removal of the tack was the right thing to do.

Author Reply: Poor ponies. You're right about the cave. Glad to hear you made it back home ok.
