Peregrin and Diamond  by Pearl Took 108 Review(s)

Definitely looking in the wrong place at the wrong sort of lass. That Persimmone! Gold digger. And strumpet. None of that bunch of lasses seem likely to make happy marriages, since their idea of courting seems to be to entice suitable prospects into impropriety.

Glad to see Estella is among the other lasses! But poor Pippin is probably doing himself no favours by storming off to escape female attention. I can see this leading to disaster, adventure and meeting his true love.... Oh, hang on, that all sounds very promising!

Hey! Have you been reading ahead? LOL

Thank you for reading and responding, Bodkin!

An interesting introduction to the problems of courting when you are both famous and high society! When all they really want is true love - like Rosie and Sam. (Could be they're looking in the wrong place - at the wrong sort of lass.)

Author Reply: Yes indeed. A problem I myself have never had to deal with ;) I lucked out, I have a Sam.

Thank you, Bodkin!

"I'm not as warm now." She said softly. "In fact I'm a bit chilled." She moved herself tightly against Pippin."

Yeah--that's how it always begins! Persimmone is a loser.

You ain't kidding! Lasses/women *are* more terrible than guys/fellows at gossiping about who they've conquered.

Poor Pippin! I hope he finds the *right* lass soon! ;-)

Author Reply: No, he's going to be at ithe hunting about for a long time yet. hehehe

Yes, we lasses can be just as bad as the lads :D

Thank you, Pippinfan, for reading, responding and befriending me :)

This line was so very Pippin!
(she seemed a nice enough lass who just had trouble with adjusting to the temperature around her.)
Such an innocent trusting hobbit with no idea he is being had.

I am beginning to remember a bit of this story and I do think I must have read parts of it before this, but I am enjoying it very much and I look forward to more of it. I loved it when Pippin tossed the lasses out of the house.

I do feel sorry for Pip but also for Merry because he had to let Pippin ride off and he has no idea where his dear friend is going or for how long.

Author Reply: Thank you, GW :) It's so nice to have something fit the character well. I'm so glad you are enjoying this story.

Yes, Merry is one thing getting improved in the rewrite, I kind of neglected him in the original.

Thanks so much for responding :) :)

Oh those evil little brats!!!!!!!!! And now poor Pippin's leaving!? And I have to wait how long till the next chapter!? But really, I love this story so far and can't wait for the next part.
God bless,
Elanor

Author Reply: Yes, they are a rather nasty bunch.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long :) I've got a couple of chapters that are needing more work than I expected and so I'm taking my time posting as I don't want to catch up to the ones I'm working on.

Thanks so much, Elanor, for reading and responding :)

Well, I know you've said this is a story that was posted before but I must have missed it because it all sounds new to me. I love it by the way. I do think it must have been hard for Merry and Pippin to tell if a lass was enjoying their company because she actually liked them or if she was just enjoying being with someone considered famous. I look forward to more of this one.

Author Reply: Sorry for the long delay in replying, GW. :(

Yes, it was posted at ff.net and I hadn't moved it here because I wanted to wait until I was in the right frame of mind to do a rewrite.

It is a problem that Billy, Dom and Elijah have faced, I'm sure. As Bill Murry once said, "Those people who say they want to be rich and famous; I suggest you try just being rich first and see if that doesn't do it for you."

Thank you for reading and responding, GW!

I'm planning on posting once or twice a week, depending on how well I do with keeping up on making the corrections and doing the rewrites that my editor and I agree upon.

I'm so glad you are enjoying it :)

I am in awe, Pearl! In AWE! This is very well done! How long has it been since you posted this on ff.net? Three, four years? It like coming home to re-read a good friend. :-)

I still find this way too cute:

"Married!" Merry's pipe fell from his mouth in his surprise. "Married! Pippin, what brought that up?"

"Well, you know, we really ought to sometime."

Merry grinned wickedly as he rolled over and up onto his forearms to better look at Pippin. "Is that a proposal Pip?"

That is *so* very Merry! Gotta love that Pip! Very fine start to a beautiful tale.

Author Reply: Aw, thank you, Pippinfan :) I hope you'll enjoy it as much this time as you did the last and find the changes only improve it :)

Thank you so much for reading and responding!
