It's so nice to see hobbits appreciating what Halbarad and the Rangers do!

Author Reply: I agree! Such lonely, valiant folk, who rarely got a thanks or a kind word.

I don't know what I like most about this chapter - all those tasty presents (and that delightful note, "(written for) Lily Cotton") or the last scene when Aragorn tells Frodo that he's unforgettable. The image of that ranger with the bandaged head, smiling down at the young hobbit in his lap will make me smile the rest of the day. (And did I mention that "your" Sam is simply adorable?)

Author Reply: Yay, glad you like "my" Sam! And blanket-wrapped hobbit-in-a-lap... *sigh* I'm just insatiable about things like that. :D

Hi Shirebound! I hope you don't mind as I'm reviewing as I read along:

Halbarad on doggie duty is so sweet--carrying her outside to do her thing and making sure she is well-fed and has plenty of water. I do wonder what present he left for her though.

Poor Bilbo is finally conked out. I really enjoyed the attention to detail as those hobbits of 'poor and unimportant families' left him thank-you notes (even those that couldn't write)and baskets upon baskets of food. The hobbits in the area make sure that Bilbo and his lad are very well taken care of.

Good luck to Halbarad on his mission to see the Dwarves.

Yeah! Frodo's awake again!! And little Sam is just too cute. I want to cuddle him and Frodo in a big hug and kiss their curly little heads.

Scamp got a leather bone to chew on! I was thinking her mathom was along the lines of a bone of some sort ... but not a leather one. Very cool :D

Bell!! Bell Gamgee is always such a delight to any tale, especially when she comes ready to make breakfast! (and a hungry hobbit is always a good sign)

LOL! I can picture the dirty, smelly, dangerous looking Ranger being bathed by a bunch of little hobbits.

>>He can’t remember a few things. “What?” Frodo cried out. Of all fears he harbored from his childhood, that of being abandoned, overlooked... forgotten... had never quite left him. And Estel had promised. “I have to see him,” he insisted<<

How very true ... no matter how loved and cared for an orphan is, they will almost always psychologically harbor the fear of being abandoned again. I looked foward to Aragorn and Frodo's reunion, and as always you did not dissapoint, Shirebound. Very well done and looking forward to the next chapter!

Author Reply: Thank you for your review! Yes, this Aragorn-Frodo reunion simply must continue into the next chapter... along with more puppy, food, and love. :D

At least Aragorn remembers that much. Thank Goodness!! And it looks as though the Baggins, both young and elder Master and our favourite Ranger won't be starving anytime soon. :oD Don't you just love hobbits. :oD

Looking forward to the next chapter!!

Author Reply: They will definitely not be starving, that's for certain! Must rustle up some breakfast for them. And lunch and supper and...

Hobbits! :D

I love the image of Scamp with her wee chew toy :)

Sam is so cool!! Ya just gotta love that hobbit!

Frodo *is* unforgetable :)

Author Reply: Our dog just adored her chew toys... How can we deny Scamp the same delight?

Frodo... hobbits... definitely unfortgettable, Pearl.

:D

Ok, I know I already reviewed at ff.net, but it won't let me review again and I thought of a couple of other comments I wanted to make.

First of all, wouldn't it be easier now the two are awake to put them in the same room, so the caregivers don't have to go between rooms, and the two invalids can help entertain each other? I know that it would have to be Estel's room, since I don't think Frodo's is big enough for Estel, but they could move him (and Sam and Scamp) to that room, couldn't they? That would make lots of lovely Ranger / young Hobbit interaction possible.

Secondly... mmmmm.... Estel and Frodo baths..... mmmmm... *grins wickedly.* I'll wash hair!

Author Reply: You sweetie! And they *will* be in the same room for a bit, you clever girl! That's just about all I *had* decided about chapter 9 so far.

Baths... mmmmm... :D

Oh, this was great! I love that Aragorn reassured Frodo by reminding him of his words all that time ago. Frodo is most definatly unforgettable. Are the puppies coming soon?
God bless,
Ellie

Author Reply: Thanks, Ellie. There are definitely puppies coming, as soon as they decide it's time! :D

Awwww. (Frodo's fear of being forgotten. I guess he never will be forgotten, will he? Though what he had to go through, to attain that status, doesn't bear thinking about.)

Good Halbarad. I'm with him. No matter how late I go to bed, I'm awake by dawn or slightly before. It's training me to go to bed earlier than the owls. (Here's hoping his meeting with the dwarves goes well.)

Lovely chapter. Hope Aragorn gets his memory back soon (this would be very AU if he never got it back!). Still waiting for puppies (neighbours just got a nine-week-old furball, so cute!) Wonderful depiction of the Shirefolks' gratitude. Don't you just love hobbits?

Author Reply: I'm like Halbarad, too! So many years of being at the office early has me waking at the crack of dawn no matter how late I've been up, or what day it is.

Goodness yes, what an AU a permanently-amnesiac Aragorn would be! He would have to go back to Rivendell for "Elendil's Heir Training" all over again.

Hobbits! And there will eventually be puppies, I promise. We need to be as patient as Scamp. Thank you, Lin! :D

Hooray, they're both awake and coherent! I am thrilled by this beyond all reason. Possibly I need to get out more.

*stands ready to carry water for their baths* "Now, where are those fluffy towels?"

chew toy for Scamp! *excited by this, too* It's the heat, that must be it.

Author Reply: Hooray! And of *course* you can stand by with water and towels. How thoughtful of you! :D
