How truly sweet! Yes, we each have our own little bit of Arda to keep care of, and Aragorn Elessar is a most wise king indeed.

Lovely!

Author Reply: Yes, I'd think I'd be content to allow Elessar to handle things! Glad you enjoyed.

Yes, I’m happy to let him go on lookin’ after his corner of Arda while I go on lookin’ after mine. ’Reckon that’s what we’re all here for.

It really is just that simple, isn't it? :D

Author Reply: LOL. Well, yes, I like to think so. :) It's when I think I need to run the Universe that I start getting myself into trouble. Fortunately, the innkeeper is wiser than I am. ;)

Oh my, I did get a laugh out of the king, taking on the table with the cushion. That young lad needs to be brought out of his bad manners. How about a time spent being a minder to young children.

Author Reply: Yes, Carandol could certainly use a lesson on good manners. But I promise that I've made him a bit more likeable in the next vignette (written, but not posted yet--soon, I hope). Glad you got a laugh out of Elessar's frustration (or rather, on how he chose to vent it). Thank you for your comments!

I would have loved to have seen Elessar beating the life out of that table w/the cushion! A most enjoyable read.

PS - Who wouldn't have a crush on Aragorn?

Author Reply: LOL--yep, Silima's crush on Aragorn keeps getting a lot of comments. Seems many readers can identify! Glad you enjoyed this one, and thank you for taking the time to respond.

Even Aragorn Elessar has his limits, but he is experienced and wise enough to appreciate them. Lovely! And nice to see another addition to this one--it has been a time!

Author Reply: Yep, even Elessar can be pushed too far, but as you said, he knows how to handle his anger. It *has* been awhile since I've posted one of these vignettes, but I'm working on the next one now, so it should be up in a week or so. Thanks for your comments.

Poor Aragorn, having to deal with a young pain in the behind. Maybe he should leave him at the inn for awhile, to do dishes and such. Show him how other live.

Author Reply: LOL! Yep, that's a good idea! Maybe young Carandol would straighten up.

Yes, our worst enemy tends to lurk right in the midst of our own hearts, and the hearts of those we ought to be best able to trust.

Author Reply: So true! Thanks for your comments, Larner. :)

Very true Allee! Great stuff but I wanted to know how he is going to deal with the silly boy!

Author Reply: Thanks, and I'm glad you're enjoying it. What will become of Aragorn and Carandol? That remains to be seen! Stay tuned. :)

Yes, I do like this Innkeeper very much!

Retreating to cool his anger a bit is certainly the sort of thing the Aragorn we know would do. He knows how and when to use anger, and how to temper it to serve his purposes. I'm finding myself curious about this "Carondol"--why is his adolescent smugness and sullenness so pronounced? And why is he finding it so hard to behave civilly?

Very nice! I look forward to more!

Author Reply: Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you like the innkeeper; he's certainly an entertaining fellow! Ah, Carandol . . . well, we know from Stars Among Us that his father was killed at the Pelennor Fields, so he's angry over that. And of course he's a teenager, so you have all the natural rebelliousness thrown in. But is there more going on? Honestly I have no idea yet! When I wrote Stars Among Us, I didn't anticipate bringing Carandol back (any more than I thought I'd mention Silima again), but here he is again. Perhaps he'll turn up in a future vignette, and we'll learn more about this angry young man.

Hi, Allee. Just reread this over at AA and thought I'd review here. I love these simple stories of a man getting a good, down-to-earth look at a King worth knowing. You have caught this character spot on - a salt of the earth type of guy who is continually astonished by Aragorn. And Aragorn is great - you've caught his regal side as well as the humble, compassionate side (thrown in with some royal temper now and then!) The innkeeper is indeed a wise man to know that evil is always with us. (And Carandol had better watch out! LOL) This is a great series!

Linda

Author Reply: Thanks, Linda. The innkeeper is definitely a "salt of the earth" type, and I suppose that part of what he finds most amazing about Aragorn is the King's complexity. Aragorn certainly has many sides, and it's been fun exploring them through the eyes of the innkeeper. Glad you're enjoying these vignettes!
