The Vault of Annúminas  by shirebound 20 Review(s)

I love seeing Frodo be the one to offer the comfort, instead of needing it. The foreshadowing of Frodo's later prophetic dreams is fascinating. Your characterizations are always so spot-on. I'm looking forward very much to the next chapter!

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm trying hard to weave not only this entire series together as "a whole", but keep it as based in canon as an AU can be. I'm so glad you're enjoying it.

yay, we're going to Annúminas! can't wait to read the rest of this!

Author Reply: Thank you, Elly. I'll try to make sure we all have a fun adventure. :)

Ooooh, I enjoyed this! I love Aragorn's attention to Frodo's dreams and the hints and possibilities that he wants to explore. I'm really looking forward to what will come of this.

And... Elvish singing under the stars! I know that if I were Frodo, I'd not be able to contain myself right now!

Author Reply: Elvish singing under the stars... as delicate and lovely as Gentlehobbit reading out loud!

Thank you, sweet one. This story fills me with warm fuzzies. I hope Frodo enjoys his new adventure as much as I'm enjoying planning it for him. :)

No, time with Frodo would definitely not be a waste of time! :) And I love how solicitous he is of his beloved cousin and his joy at going on his own adventure. What joy they brought each other.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I do believe that Frodo and Bilbo brought one another great joy, and a sense of true family. And yes, Frodo gets his own adventure with Estel at last! :)

I find the idea that Annuminas might have been built to mimic Numenor fascinating. And to learn Aragorn finds his dreaming to be something to base an adventure on----Well! How wonderful for our lad!

Now, to find if the singing of Elves eases Frodo's stresses.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you like that idea! There's so little written about Annuminas, we can use our own imaginations to fill in the blanks. The "Atlas of Middle-earth" shows Numenor as vaguely star-shaped, and I got to wondering if Elendil might have set up his new city in the same shape. :)

Ooo ooo, adventure in the offing!

Why do I get the feeling that travelling with Elves might not be quite so... er... relaxing as sitting in the Hall of Fire listening to songs?

Is Annuminas really built in the shape of a star, or is that your wonderful imagining (how well it fits with the star the Rangers wear)? I did a lot of hunting for descriptions of that city when I was writing All that Glisters but never did find much.

Poor Frodo, worried about Bilbo and neglecting himself... he's in need of a holiday. But how much of a holiday will this be?

Author Reply: Thank you for coming along on this new adventure, Lin! There's nothing in canon about Annuminas being star-shaped, but it's an idea that appeals to me.

I agree, there's very little written about Annuminas. I'm having a wonderful time imagining it as it might have been.

ooh, Frodo's off on an adventure with Estel AND an Elf, well half elf! I'm off to pack my bag. They can't leave me behind all that easily! And singing too! Bliss.

Author Reply: How wonderful that we all get to go along on our lad's adventures. I just never tire of it.

*helps you pack*

How fun!! Frodo, Estel and Elladan off adventuring. This sounds to be a fascinating trip :-)

Author Reply: I hope to make it so, Pearl! It's fun to think up new adventures for our dear lad.

I loved this. Loved Bilbo being cared for by Frodo - and that he dreams of Rivendell, and speaking in Sindarin with Elladan. Oh, and Annuminas being laid out in a star-shape, in memory of lost Numenor - that's a wonderful detail.

Can't wait to see more!

*giggle* And naturally Elladan's the one to ask whether Halbarad had mentioned details of the place to Frodo - Aragorn and Halbarad wouldn't be speaking to one another at the moment. Perfect.

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm having a lovely time imagining Annuminas as it once was. There's nothing in canon about it being star-shaped, but... why not? I like the whole idea. :)

I sense an adventure coming.

I love how Frodo cares for Bilbo.

Author Reply: Frodo senses an adventure coming, too! I love showing this relationship between Frodo and Bilbo. They are both very special hobbits.
