Fiondil's Tapestry  by Fiondil 18 Review(s)

Oh, this was cute. Grumpy Aragorn, politically incorrect Pippin - this was really fun!

Author Reply: Thanks SS, I'm glad you enjoyed this. It was fun to write as well, especially Pippin.

Fun and light-hearted - I liked Gimli admitting to himself that he likes to hear Legolas's voice, and especially Legolas's comment about Aragorn. I just loved the shift in style with Gandalf's contribution. The gradual change in his voice to such beauty, and especially the song he sang. It's no wonder everyone was so stunned by it.

Author Reply: Thanks, Jay. I'm glad you enjoyed this little vignette. Gimli and Legolas are not even close to being friends yet, but the Dwarf cannot help but be as mesmerized by Legolas' voice as the other Mortals.

'Name That Tune' Middle Earth style! I'm sure they had fun listening to songs from all races - what a fun way to learn things about new people!

I have a feeling Gandalf's song meant more to Legolas than anyone else, although they all seemed touched by it on some level or another.

Author Reply: I figured that such a game, especially among Hobbits, would be something that would be thought up as a way to while away the hours. While Gandalf's song probably touched Legolas on a deeper level than the Mortals, given who he is and for whom the Song was first sung, the others nonetheless were deeply touched and it's a shame Boromir did not hear it.

This was very well done. I really liked Gandalf's the best though. I also like that this story, in a way, delves deeper into the mythology and history of Middle Earth even though this story takes place in the Third Age. ^^ Thanks for writing!

Author Reply: Thanks, Alquawendë. I'm glad you liked this. I don't really write Fellowship stories but this one rather wrote itself, so I really had no choice. *grin*

cool song contest. loved gandalf's best of all. an impressive song not to be outdone indeed!

Author Reply: Gandalf has an edge on everyone since he knows songs that were sung before the beginning of Eä. At least he chose one that would speak to each of Ilúvatar's Children on one level or another. Thanks for reviewing.

A bit more complicated that "Name That Tune," I must say. So, now a new generation, mostly mortal, hears the Father's first waking-song and the lullaby most beloved by Namo. Nice.

Author Reply: Yes, indeed! Glad you liked this one, Larner. Thanks for reviewing.

Yes, I would guess that Maia's do have songs of their own but just not for the ears of the First and Second Born!
Oh, and Pip I think Aragorn is grouchy in the morning because he is sleeping on the cold, hard ground and not because he sings sad songs, I know I would!
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Thanks Lynda. I'm glad you liked this little glimpse of the Fellowship. I think you may be right about why Aragorn's a grouch in the mornings... I never liked sleeping on the cold, hard ground either. *grin* I will be updating this as I can when prompts become available.

Okay, I already reviewed at L&S, but I'll say it again. I LIKE it! *grin*

Author Reply: I know you do, NiRi. Thanks. *grins back*
