Fiondil's Tapestry  by Fiondil 715 Review(s)

Sorry to be Debbie Downer here but....I voted for the only man who would have made a real difference in the way Americans vieewd the next four years, Gary Johnson. He is the former governor of my state, ran as a libertarian, and wanted to legalize marijuana. At least we would have all had an altered view of the pain of change. Pass that doobie my way bro. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Just rereading (for research as well as fun, I was writing a Dwarven story and needed a reminder of what an 'apron' was geologically) and thought I'd review (again, and haven't things changed since the last time I did *lol*. Still have the scars from those staples though, and it's been almost six years o.O...). Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli in this story always make me laugh, and I believe most of your readers would love the idea of a naked Legolas. I don't think Gimli's blankie (ha) would help Legolas much if he was actually naked, though :P Maybe my newest Loot Crate t-shirts? I doubt I could give them to him, so I hope Aragorn would at least lend the poor Elf a tunic! Hehe.

"It wasn't anything they hadn't seen before." That bit always gets me. *grins*

What are the chances of Arwen or Thranduil ever hearing about this, incidentally? :) And do you suppose Lord Aule was watching?

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. I'm glad you enjoyed this story the second time around. It is quite funny with the play on words and a naked Legolas would be something to see, wouldn't it? LOL!

Anyway, I doubt these three told anyone, but I suspect you are right that Lord Aulë was watching and enjoying the show.

Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it.

I'm glad you liked this. I, too, would love to have heard Gandalf sing.

From your lips to Ian McKellen's ears! [grin]

This is a delightful story. Pippin certainly knows how to lighten things up for the Fellowship.

Author Reply: I'm glad you enjoyed this, KathyG. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Hello again, Atto!

Bet you've given up on reviews from me by now *lol* Or, at least, you weren't expecting (yet another) review from me on this one! It's been six years since I first read it!! SIX YEARS. Really. From the...Void. :P

I'm still wondering how come Namo decided he had no mother! Heh!

Speaking of the Void, I went back there (as in, North Dakota) for my friend's wedding (the one I was visiting last time) and we even stayed at the same place. State/9th/University Street/Avenue was still confusing and we still got lost. At least I wasn't being asked to read maps this time.

When we were back in the airport parking lot trying to find his car so we could go home, though, he was drunk (probably), angry, and we'd lost our baggage so you can imagine how I felt being alone with him. He ended up hitting me and spraining my shoulder (this was back in June). I immediately banned him from seeing me, though we still talk on the phone. Guess you're my real Atto now. *tearful smile* If you don't mind, that is.

Since then I've been feeling down - your fics are one of the few things that keep me afloat. I'll get back to reviewing; I feel bad for having been so lax.

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. Sorry you have had such a rough time lately. I'm glad my stories have helped make you feel better. Review when you can. You know where to find me. *grin* Tye-melin.

Hi Fiondil :) Celeborn has always been one of my favorite characters, so this story was a definite win for me. I love how you write him here. For all his calm, collectedness I'm sure this meeting made him squirm. This really is a testament to his love for his Lady of Light.

For Finrod also, this was a big step and he also wasn't afraid to take it. I think that says a lot about them as leaders. Interesting that Celeborn is a mystery to his cousin. Many, of the Noldor I think, might be tempted to underestimate him, but he is a huge force to be reckoned with. No one could love, win and ultimately wed Galadriel if they were not. Hopefully it is the start of a wonderful friendship, and even brotherhood, for both of them. :)

Author Reply: I think people sorely underestimate Celeborn and that's a theme that I bring up in other stories where he is either involved or mentioned. He's also very brave to do what he did here.

And Finrod is just being Finrod. I can't imagine him acting any other way. And I think his estimation of Celeborn rose after this and never took him for granted.

Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

I had to check out this chapter after your suggestion :D

Oh Námo. I'm still laughing. Glorfindel and Finrod are good medicine for him. Their exploits keep him young... or at least from boredom *wicked grin* Poor dear. I think you've made him one of my favorite valar, though I really do love all of them.

Pretending he's Lord Manwë? If it was possible to die laughing, I think I just might have. Unfortunately after reading this story I would probably take one look at Námo and die laughing all over again. Is it possible to die of being dead? I'm sure he would think there was something wrong with my pathetic fëa ;)

As a side not, I would love to read more about Námo and Vairë. I hope to see lots of them in Elf, Interrupted :)

This is only phase one? I can't imagine what other ideas Vairë might have. I don't care what anyone says. Valië are scary.

Author Reply: Hi Hawkeye. Yes, Glorfindel and Finrod are very good medicine for Námo and however much he complains, I'm sure he gets a kick out of them both and secretly enjoys their antics. And I thought Glorfindel wondering if Námo pretends he's Lord Manwë with his throne was pretty funny even if Námo didn't think so. *snicker*

At any rate, we occasionally see Námo and Vairë together in some of my other stories, though the scenes are very brief. The one story will you see them together a lot is "Wars of the Valar" but that's because it had only the Valar and the Maiar in it. You may wish to check it out some time. And you're right that the Valier are scary when they want to be, more so than the Valar.

Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

I am spamming up your email with comments today, but I felt this story deserved one. I was cracking up at all of Aragorn's examples. Especially the dagger/necklace sequence. Legolas' comeback of "Gimli's Blankie" was unexpected and amusing.

Author Reply: Not a problem Lin. As one writer says, 'Reviews are love' well, at least the platonic kind. LOL! I enjoyed exploring the ambiguities that occur in all languages and it was fun to find some in Sindarin. "Gimli's Blankie" just seemed appropriate, given the teasing between the Elf and the Dwarf. Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.

I enjoyed this story! Such a different side to the Lord of Mandos. He does work too hard! I like how it ended up being Vairë as the mastermind. They're relationship is probably my favorite of the Valar. Although I like how you portray all the Valar.

Author Reply: Hi Lin. Yeah, the guy does work too hard. Luckily, he has people like Vairë, Maranwë and the Dynamic Duo to help him lighten up. LOL! Thanks for letting me how much you enjoyed the story. I appreciate it.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!! I loved that song when I was little! hahaha this short story is epic! (contradiction I know ;)) but seriously I just about fell from my chair. Laughing quietly is very difficult by the way!

P.S. thanks for suggesting the read!

Author Reply: You're most welcome, Lin. What can I say? It's a great word and I remember when the movie came out, most adults couldn't say it but every 4-year could rattle it off without any trouble. Seemed like the perfect password for Thranduil to use. *grin* Thanks for leaving a review. It's much appreciated.

Namarie Atto,

I just wanted to tell you I've re-read this one a few times today (December 15 is a hard anniversary for me, what with it having been my grandmother's death six years ago, plus the news from CT required some soul-searching). As ever, I was calmed and comforted by Atar's gentle treatment of His Children, and His coaxing of them toward the answer to His question. Indeed we all have free will, to accept His love...or not. He may not stop His Children from committing evil acts, but ultimately, somewhere some good will come out of it - at the very least, the outpouring of compassion for the families. I'm keeping them and all those affected in my prayers.

It's also interesting to come back to my old reviews and note in them how things have changed between us since I started reading your stories...

*hugs Atto*

Tye-melin, tenn' Ambar-metta.

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. I'm glad this little ficlet has given you comfort this weekend with all that is going on. Sometimes it helps to be reminded of these things so we don't lose all perspective. Thanks for letting me know how much this story has helped you to get through a difficult time. It's greatly appreciated and gives me a boost, as well. Hugs and tye-melin.
