Elf, Interrupted: Book Two: Glorfindel's Quest  by Fiondil 12 Review(s)

Gee, Glorfindel seems to be going through 'an accident waiting to happen' phase!
Murphy must be working over time!
Sometimes I think the Maia forget that Glorfindel is Mirowanwi(sp?) and treat him as they would one of their own.
Wonder what Manwe wants Olorin to teach him? I know, I know wait until the next chapter, but I wanna know now!
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Tolkien did say that Glorfindel spent so much time with the Maiar that he practically became like them, so I'm not surprised that the Maiar tend to forget that he isn't. Mirroanwi is the plural of mirroanwë. The next chapter will see where Olórin takes Glorfindel and what the lesson is. As Olórin tells GLorfindel, it's not the type of lesson that makes sense by explaining, it is the kind of lesson that works best when shown.

"Cheating", are they? Yet Glorfindel still manages to sneak in an occasional surprise. Good for him!! :-)

It sounds as if the Maiar are going to get some "interesting times" again - Glorfindel has nightmares. This time it is evidently memories of his death that sre being stirred up (which is bound to be no fun for everyone!!). And Glorfindel does - of course - refuse to discuss the nightmares.

Author Reply: Well, as the Maiar point out it's not really cheating, though I don't think Glorfindel is convinced. *grin* Glorfindel doesn't want to be fussed over by the Maiar (or the Valar, for that matter) so he's keeping silent about the content of his nightmares. In the end, he knows he has to deal with them himself; no one can really help him there.
