A Teleri Treasury  by Rhyselle 83 Review(s)
VirtuellaReviewed Chapter: 14 on 11/21/2008
A haunting scene, very convincing in its stark simplicity.

Oh, so much grief here! Alas--and he feels personally responsible? Alas for him and all his people! And for the Kinslayers!

Oh, meldenya!

This is so heartbreakingly beautiful...so rich in details, I'm right there with Olwe it seems, and I want to cry so badly. I did cry when you showed this to me before! Ai...poor Olwe, the guilt and shame he must feel! *huggles him* But in time, he will heal, as will his people, though I doubt they will ever be able to forget.

Oh, even more powerful than the original! To stop the kinslaying he himself became maddened, almost continuing the madness outside here within his own house! No wonder he wept, feeling impotent!

I loved that Rhyselle, it was painful to read but, I couldn't imagine having to go thru something like that, I don't know if my heart would survive. Hugs The Imp

Powerful. That was really, really close--my best hope for all of this is that later on such memories will help him to forgive those Exiles who return penitent--even those who participated in the Kinslaying.

Yay, Osse and Finda made up, and Olwe's going to be all right now, and I'm just so glad everything's going to be all right! *hugs all around* Beautiful tale, meldenya!!

Author Reply: Poor Olwe still has to recover from that serious concussion, cracked skull and broken scapula, but, yes, everything will be all right for a while. Eventually I'm going to have to tackle his meeting with Feanor and his reaction to the Kinslaying, though. Thanks for being one of my most faithful reviewers!

Another charming vignette. I am enjoying these very much. They work so well as little snapshots and each is unique.

Small niggle:
"as even the gentle lurch as the sailboat stopped" - I would try to avoid one of the two "as".

Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing! I looked at the sentence and changed the second "as" to "when". Thanks for the suggestion!

Twinling, I think the thing that I like best about this whole sequence (and thanks for letting me see them all in "preview") is the very evident friendship between Osse and Olwe. It was especially nice to see this after Osse's "Did you miss me? ... I missed you." in 'Swimming'.

Hugs,

Edlyn

Author Reply: I'm being surprised by the relationships that Olwe has developed with Ulmo and Osse every time I listen to the Muse. I'm very glad that you enjoyed this piece.
