Oh God, this is so funny, when I lives in Ohio (4 yrs) I was Ok, but in my last spring over there, I got such an allergy because the pollen, I needed a cortisone shock, allergy pills and drops, I hated spring after that, I mean, in Ohio you can see clouds of pollen moving thru the valley, it is so frustrating to have allergy and can't go outside after you have spent the whole winter inside already...so I can feel Aragorn pain. Author Reply: Thank you, Fantasia! Glad you enjoyed this... and sorry you suffer those same sorts of allergies. They're miserable, no other word for it. My husband deals with juniper allergies in February and March and I confess he was the inspiration for this, poor guy. I hope where you live now you've escaped the Evil Pollen Clouds!

I wish I could hear Aragorn and the twins sing, too! You make it sound so beautiful. :) LOL, the last sentence made me laugh! Poor Halbarad! Well, I guess even a formidable ranger like Halbarad can't be good at everything. *g* Author Reply: Thank you, Almut! Yes, even Halbarad can't do it all... although he sure wishes he could at least sing. :)

Ah, poor Halbarad, not having the gift of singing himself. At least he can appreciate it in others! Nicely done descriptions. Author Reply: Thank you, Larner! There's a bit of myself in that... I can't paint to save my life but I so love looking at the artwork of others. I'm glad you liked this, and thanks for the review!
Estelcontar | Reviewed Chapter: 3 on 3/19/2009 |
A most charming, bittersweet, and poetical drabble. Trust your Halbarad to perceive all the beauty in the mingled voices of the twins and Aragorn, and to be wise enough to make light fun of his own shortcoming. Author Reply: Thank you, Estelcontar... yes, Halbarad's one that can appreciate music all the more for not being able to produce it well himself. I'm glad you enjoyed this.

This is really poignant and beautiful. It's so easy to imagine this scene happening. Author Reply: Thank you, shirebound! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

I love the description of the twins' and Aragorn's voices. Poor Halbarad; not having a talent for music... Excellent ficlet! Author Reply: Thank you, Raksha! I'm glad you liked this... and yes, poor Halbarad can appreciate but not contribute. :)

Oh that was lovely, just, lovely! What a sound to hear that must have been. Author Reply: Wouldn't it have been? *sigh* It's hard to describe music with words, but I hoped to capture some of the enchantment of it. Thanks for the kind words!

Beautiful... I can see this. I can imagine the crackling of the fire, the hissing as a log with hidden dampness ignites and the hiss of embedded water turns to steam, as Elladan, Elrohir and Estel sing. So lovely. Thank you for this. ~Marethiel Author Reply: Thank you, Marethiel! I love that my drabble evoked such powerful imagery for you. :) Wouldn't you have loved to have been sitting beside Halbarad listening? Ahhh. Thanks again for the review!

I enjoyed this very much! I hadn't even made the connection that they met Gandalf on Aragorn's birthday until now...what a wonderful present, though! You've captured Aragorn's emotions nicely. Author Reply: Thank you, Minerva! I'm glad you liked this, and glad I was able to connect two events for you. I hadn't realized the connection myself, either, until I saw it on the tORN website. Glad you liked Aragorn's feelings here.
