Gil-Estel  by Mirach 74 Review(s)

Another wrenching installment... now we wait to see if the twins can find Aragorn if he's still hiding in the rocks. A bit like a needle in a haystack, from the sounds of things, but if anyone can find Aragorn, it's those two. I'm as anxious as Earendil to see what comes next!

Author Reply: It's really like looking for a needle in a haystack, but the guys from the mountain rescue are succesull many times. But, on the other side, they have GPS and helicopters... So, we'll see how those two manage =)

Hooray! The cavalry is on its way!

Oh at last! Hooray for the sons of Elrond! May they find his swiftly.

Earendil's impatience with the Valar and with his son would seen very understandable at this point.

Author Reply: Hm-hm... We'll see how swiftly (and if at all) they find him...

I'm glad that you can understand Earendil - the clouds shielding his sight and the uncertainty were just too much...

Oh how I feel for Eärendil - he sounds so angry with his lot - and just now I don't blame him for raging at the Valar.

I do hope the twins get to Aragorn soon. Although I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Istari got there first...

Author Reply: I'm glad that you don't blame him, he might be a star and immortal, but in the heart, he is still a Man...

And we'll see who gets to Aragorn first ;)

I don't know but what I like this chapter best of all so far! Earendil's anguished prayers and then anger at the Valar are such believable reactions to what he's going through. The frustration at the clouds that refuse to part, and then the anger again at the lights of Rivendell that remind him briefly of the detachment of the Valar... that too makes sense that he would be angry with Elrond. Ah but then it's so good to see that when he looks closer, Rivendell... and Elrond... are *not* so detached after all, and that help is on the way in the form of Elladan and Elrohir. I loved that most of all.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! I'm glad that you find Earendil's reaction believable, the clouds (that he wished for a few days ago) and the uncertainty are almost driving him mad, poor Mariner!

At least they have again been foiled, and he is safe atain for the moment. The floating brooches are both poignant and amusing, to think of Earendil leaving centuries of space junk floating in the ether, failed warnings and messages intended for various descendants! Poor Mariner--he has in its way a terrible job!

Author Reply: Centuries of space junk, yes... =) I think he learned soon that it has no results, so the space pollution is not so bad as it might seem. He just forgets about it in certain circumstances =)

Gravity and currents have worked for him before he sailed down the Anduin with the Fellowhip, then? Smart boy, our Aragorn.

Author Reply: Oh yes, he always was! And he seemed quite sure in the boat, so he had to have some experience already =)

Now, it comes to the time for rescue, I think!

Author Reply: I think I won't comment that ;)

The last pure descendant, but he does what he must as he has been prepared to do all of his life.

Author Reply: So true!
Thank you for the review!
