What a gift to have given him! Lovely indeed!

Author Reply: A very selfless gift from a true friend! Thank you, I'm glad you liked the end of the story!

Awww, great ending! :)

I love how you solved things: Eonwe's selfless action gives Earendil his sight back (and is better than before :) ), and yet he can see in his "human" form. Excellent idea!

I also like how these events are intertwined with the birth of Elros' son. And I am glad that Earendil will be able to see his descendants. :)

Wonderful story!

Author Reply: Hello! I'm glad you like the last chapter! It was really very selfless from Eonwe - he did not know he will be able to see in the "human" form! He is a true friend!

And now Earendil can see again, so all the events of the 2nd and 3rd age can happen under his hawk sight. Thank you very much for reading the story and all lovely reviews!

It is a pity to see this story arc come to an end, you do so well with Eonwe. I look forward to your next story arc, though, because I'm sure that your writing will still be excellent and your characters will be interesting and all-too-real. This was a story that was well worth reading, though, and I will be recommending it to other fanfic friends.

Um.....WOW. Thats all I can say to that. Wow, wow, wow...I had to read it again to get any semblance of coherency to my thoughts. For one thing, Earendil calling Eonwe reckless in the end of Hope of a Star was backwards, because Earendil is a lot more reckless than Eonwe in this story. I'm really glad that the sight was a gift in the end, because Eonwe gave up so much to give it to him....and I'm sure Eonwe flew with Earendil as often as he could. Beautiful timing of returning hope, just as Vardamir is born. One question, did Earendil know (or find out) what Eonwe had done? OK, the most beautiful, moving scene, probably of the whole fic, was where Eonwe sacrifices his sight for Earendil. I would love to go on and on about it, but I'm finding I don't have words to do it justice. WOW. Oh, and did Eonwe ever become a hawk again? Well, its been really fun to read, a wonderful take on Eonwe and Earendil, and I can't wait to see what you write next! Thank you for this wonderful story!

Author Reply: Ah, thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the end of the story! To answer the question - no, Eärendil has never found out (so far, but if he does I will probably write a story about it). Eonwe didn't tell anbody about it, not even Elwing. He did not want Earendil to be his friend because of thankufllness, but because of himself - and that he was. He calls Eonwe reckless in Hope of a Star, becaude he had no choice himslef in getting caught by Ungoliant, but Eonwe came into the spider's lair willingly to save him. But I would say they are both reckless =) And after this, Eonwe was still able to become a hawk, but he was blind in that form, so he did it only in highest need. He still could orientate himself, as the Maiar have much more senses, and the sight is not as important to them as to the humans, but the absolute darkness always reminded him on Ungoliant, and that's not a pleasant memory. Thank you again for reading the whole story and all lovely reviews!

Ah, but he needs now to rise and sail once more, even if at first he needs one by him to teach him how to read the winds of heaven and to set his course.

Love the finch waking Eonwe!

And Elros and his family wait....

Author Reply: Yes, you are right... The next chapter will reveal that. And I'm glad you like the finch, that little birdie has success with it's few seconds entrance, it seems :)

Oh, poor Earendil. I have horrible vision, but I can't imagine being blind. I'm assuming that the last scene is in the future, because I don't think they slept for weeks. I hope you have a scene where Earendil can see his new grandson. :) After all, he'll have to wait for a good while until Elrond has children. I must admit that the idea of Eonwe freaking out waking up in darkness has caught hold of my imagination, I'm trying to figure out just how much damage a panicking maia could cause. The finch made me laugh, a smug little bird, isn't it? Ah, well, as depressing as it is that the story will be done, I can't wait for the next chapter!

Author Reply: Yes, the last scene is a few weeks later, and those weeks will be covered in the next chapter. And it's true that Elrond is not even married yet, and he won't be for some time ;) The damage caoused by a panicking maia depends of the fact if there is some non-panicking Vala around. I'm glad you like the finch, it seems the birdie has success with its few seconds entrance :D

We rejoice that Earendil has been freed, Vingilot rebuilt with her spirit intact, and Eonwe rests while the spider is dead. Now--to see how Earendil recovers....

Author Reply: Thank you for the review! Yes, the story is almost finished, there is only one chapter left =) Have a nice Holidays!

I have been loving every chapter of this tale. I am relieved that they made it back to Arda and Elwing's tower, and a bit surprised that the Elder King did not know more about Eonwe's battle and foes. But Eonwe and Earendil are both in good hands now and, once they recover - when they recover - they will once again be able to fly. I loved the Powers gathering to rebuild Vingilot - lovely imagery there. Looking forward to the next chapter(s).

Author Reply: Thank you very much! Manwe usually can see everything, (when sitting with Varda on Taniqetil), but through one substance he can't see - the Unlight. That's how Melkor managed to get to the Trees with Ungoliant, and escape after killing them, veiled in her webs of Unlight. And that's why he was so worried for Eonwe, also... And there is only one chapter left until the end of the tale *sigh*

YAY!! New chapter!! Um, yes, I did want Eonwe to collapse, and well he almost did....I loved the part between Eonwe and Manwe, that was just amazing, and I'm going to go re-read it as soon as I'm done reviewing. That Manwe and the others did so much work on Vlingot was quite interesting, and really showed how much they care about Earendil, and, as an extension, Middle Earth. Well, the Silmaril is safe, Ungoliant is dead, Eonwe is sleeping, Vlingot is fixed but Earendil is not, and all Middle Earth is worrying that Gil-estel is gone. *grin* Great chapter!

Author Reply: Thank you! Personally, I loved that part too :D And yes, everything is fixed already besides the Mariner... One more chapter ;)
