Only once every age or so?.... Surely not! LOL! A great chapter, Shirebound. I'm glad you're having Glorfindel play such a pivotal role in this tale. He's my favorite Elf (tied with Finrod) and I love to see him in action. Looking forward to more.

Author Reply: I'm fascinated by how pivotal a role Glorfindel is playing, since that wasn't my original plan at all! I love how our own stories take us places we never imagined they would. I'm really happy you're enjoying my depiction of him.

Oh, words cannot describe how much I enjoyed Glorfindel's concern here! Yup, it quite made my afternoon.

Your Glorfindel is awesome... but of course, I love your Aragorn and your hobbits and your Elrond and your Gandalf... all of them!

I can't wait to see them break the news to Aragorn. I shuddered at the image of the black shadow over his head... yikes. But it makes perfect sense that of everyone, Frodo would be the one to be able to see it, given his closeness to the Ring and his heightened senses after carrying it for so long.

I can't help but wonder how Aragorn is going to react to this. Is he going to be all, "I'm fine, leave me alone!" or is he going to be a bit upset and dismayed? Hmmm... I am really looking forward to finding out.

And of course, I have NO IDEA how they're going to get that Nazgul to flee. All I know is that I hope it does hurt Aragorn at least a teeny tiny bit... or more... or whatever you have up your sleeve for him.

So enjoying this! I LOVE having all these people worried about Aragorn!!!

Heeeee. Since you're the one who inspired this story, you can be assured that there might be a wee bit of difficulty in coaxing this Nazgul fragment out of him. I just have to get us there.

I'm incredibly thrilled that you're enjoying this. *beams*

Oh to only make a mistake once every age or so! That was a nice bit of humor to lighten (a teeny bit) what was a very ominous chapter. I'm dying to see what Aragorn himself feels about all this... but it's interesting to see events unfold through Glorfindel's eyes. Looking forward to the next installment!

Author Reply: Yes, poor Glorfindel... when he makes a (rare) mistake, it's a doozy. :)

I'm also quite curious about Aragorn's experience. I'm letting the story unfold as it chooses to, which is quite fun. I'm glad you're enjoying this.

Fingers crossed Glorfindel fixes things soon. Very thrilling chapter.

Author Reply: Thank you. With luck, the combined wisdom of wizard, elves, and hobbits will combine to find a solution to this dilemma.

Ah... Glorfindel is on the path. I've always been fond of Glorfindel and hated seeing him replaced by Arwen. I'm so glad you are giving him a good role in this story!

That was a little creepy when Frodo described the dark shadow that emerged from Aragorn during Gandalf's use of the Black Speech. *shiver*

Author Reply: I'm growing quite fond of Glorfindel! I hadn't originally planned for him to be a major character, but the story is weaving itself, it seems.

Oh, I am so *glad* Glorfindel seems to know what's going on, and will be able to inform Elrond and Gandalf. But the enemy seems to have wrought his spell rather carefully-- how in the world will they be able to break it without harming its host?

Author Reply: How indeed? I hope my plan to resolve everything works out. *bites nails*

What a thriller! I love this, and can't wait for more. I hope you'll update soon. :)

Author Reply: Thank you for the encouragement. I look forward to diving into the next chapter as soon as I can.

I love this chapter! The arrival at Rivendell, finally among friends to care for them was wonderful. The Council made me shiver and worry for Aragorn and the Quest. And Glorfindel's realization that he needed to talk to Elrond was such a relief. I just hope it's not too late.

Author Reply: Hopefully it's not! I'm so glad you're enjoying this. :)

I am so very glad that Glorfindel is on the watch here. He may be a bit behind but he's catching up fast. I loved that last line about Glorfindel making a mistake 'once every age or so'. hehehe
The Elves are such confident folk.

Author Reply: I doubt Elves make 'hasty' decisions very often, but perhaps Glorfindel could have confided in Elrond or Gandalf before this. Oh well, with luck everything will work out in the end... :)

Hm, yes, I suppose fighting a Balrog could be called a catastrophic mistake but I think the Balrog made just as big a mistake in taking on Glorfindel!

Yep, probably should have spoken up a little sooner Glorfi!

Author Reply: We always do what seems best at the time, but sometimes we find out we should definitely have acted differently. Why shouldn't Elves have the same problem? :)
