A Long-Expected Wedding  by Fiondil 14 Review(s)
SunnyReviewed Chapter: 6 on 7/13/2011
At least Finrod admitted his part in starting the Battle of the Kitchen - he probably gained points with Arafinwë for that - but he certainly did not escape punishment. Not that I think Finrod expected it - that sort of behaviour is definitely Not What Is Expected of a Prince, Especially the Haryon to the Noldoran, after all. ;-) As for the punishment; perhaps Arafinwë has managed to get some peeks into his son's famous book?

As for learning embroidery - Glorfindel already knows some, but I think the Queen and her ladies will be happy to help him expand his skills. And while Finrod probably doesn't know anything about _embroidery_, I would think he at least knows which end of the needle to poke through the fabric - during his time in Beleriand he probably went out often to hunt - both orc-hunting and hunting for the pot, and he would hardly have taken a bevy of servants into the field. And hunting would definitely be considered a strenuous activity - a kind that would put a lot of wear and tear on the clothes.

I see that Arafinwë is expecting Ingwion and Sador to be moderating influences. I wonder how long that is going to last? Half an hour? Five minutes? Less? _I_ expect the ellyn to go into plotting mode almost as soon as they get together - and away from observation of their elders. And speaking of Ingwion - is Ingalaure also going to get involved with the conspiracy?

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. I'm sure Arafinwe has his own book of proper punishments, most likely garnered from his time as Manwe's 'thrall'. LOL! Anyway, as for the embroidery, well, we'll just have to wait and see. Both ellyn probably are efficient tailors when need arises but embroidery is another matter entirely.

As for Ingwion and Sador (and any others), joining the Dynamic Duo in their shenanigans... that remains to be seen. You just never know who-all will show up to join in on the fun. *grin*

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Argh, one look at the chapter title and I nearly dreaded reading the update! But then I remembered that Arafinwë is usually fair and going to hear them out and hoped he'd not only punish his son and his friends, but Isildil as well.

Poor Vondo, I feel so bad for him. To remember his death is hard enough, but that he went into the blood trance can't help. At least there are elves around who understand what happened and won't blame him.

Of course Isildil had to start the explanation with his accusations ... no, I can't say I like him. And I loved Finrod's impassioned explanation why it is all wrong to serve Partridge. He's totally right.

HA! So Isildil was lying about the finalized menu? Just to get one over Finrod? When Arafinwë said that they hadn't even talked about it yet, I was speechless for a moment, and then I wanted to dance, because that git didn't get away with it :D

Hm, the punishment für Finrod and Glorfindel is, all in all, just. At first I was a bit worried how nasty Isildil was going to be to them, but it didn't last long. Yay! Totally loved his punishment - the King did a great job with that!

In the end, Finrod proved to be by far the better man (or elf). He apologised, while Isildil didn't have the grace or manners to accept that. Let's see if he learns his lesson or not ...

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Don't let the chapter titles fool you. Many of them are a bit tongue-in-cheek. *grin* This is essentially a lighthearted story, a needed balm after spending over 2 years writing "In Darkness Bound".

Glad you think the punishment for all of them is just; certainly, Finrod and Glorfindel have no problem with their punishment. Isildil, of course, is another matter. Whether he learns his lesson or not remains to be seen.

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate it very much.

Well Done Arafinwe, well done indeed. Right about now he's probably trying to figure out which job is harder, being a papa or being King. LOl.
I'm glad Isildil got a bit of comeuppance and it was nice seeing Glorfindel and finrod showing a bit of remorse for getting him in trouble.

Oh, do me a favor and tell Glorfindel that you never, ever confess that the punishment will not be so bad.

Now, I'm off to apologize to my own lovely husband for indeed expecting him to "just show up and not act like an idiot" those many, many, maaaaany long years ago. **smiling***

Author Reply: Hi Eliza. I'm glad you approve of Arfinwe's ruling for everyone concerned and I'm sure he's figuring that being King is way easier than being a papa. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.
