A Long-Expected Wedding  by Fiondil 15 Review(s)

People can be so malicious, they spread their lies all around without thinking on the consequences, or do they have a purpose?

You really cannot leave reborn alone, right? They are ripe for trouble.

And finally, Glorfindel is maturing, although his last decision was not very wise, leaving those two loose in Tirion....

Author Reply: That is certainly true, Fantasia, and most do so just for the sake of feeling superior to others and for no real reason. And Glorfindel is indeed maturing, but he's not there yet and he still suffers from the occasional lapse of good sense common to the emotionally young. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

I got no farther than "In which the Reborn are bored..." and went 'oh no, that's going to end badly.' LOL. Ingalaure and Intarion are so used to 'overprotective older brother' that they have no idea how to handle 'protective older friend' do they? It will be interesting to see Glorfindel's reaction to the whole mess. I think the others forgot *Glorfindel's* 'youth' when sending the three together. Although he usually doesn't instigate things anymore, he's still only what? five years older than the other two?

Author Reply: Hi AzureSkye. You are correct that certain people forgot just how *young* Glorfindel still is emotionally. Glorfindel is probably closer to ten years older than the other two (if you add up the his time in the Gardens of Mandos and Lórien) but in Elvish terms that's nothing. Anyway, we'll see how everyone, including Glorfindel, reacts to the whole mess next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Of all the elves out there, Findarato and Ingwion are the last ones I would want to get upset. Four someones are in a great deal of trouble. And this is before Ingwe and Arafinwe get involved.

Author Reply: Hi Tkid. You got that right. We'll be seeing how it all plays out in the next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

There is always something going on with the Reborn, isn't it? At least Ingalaure and Intarion weren't carrying any weapons in the tavern... :-p

Yes, Glorfy ought to know what a balrog looks like. And evidently he is grown-up enough now that he did not let the two more recently Reborn play with live steel when Ingwë had forbidden it. And I wonder what spurred that?

That was some really vicious gossiping going on in the tavern. Perhaps there is still remnants of the Darkening lingering here and there, since this "gossip" is more like subversion. And of course one of the Reborn would react. Finrod is their friend, after all, and they are still very young emotionally. And since there were two very "young" reborn in the middle of this trouble, the two Maiar were no doubt truly needed to handle it.

I wonder if, right now, Finrod is about ready to compose a sonnet in praise of boredom?

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. We may be thankful for small favors that Ingalaurë and Intarion were unarmed. And I honestly have no idea what caused Ingwë to forbid live steel for these two, though swordfights through the palace corridors ala Errol Flynn come to mind. *grin*

The Darkening will never fully leave Aman, though it is more contained than what is found in Middle-earth proper, even more so, since at this point in time Valinor is still very much a part of Arda.

I have no doubt that after this, Finrod will not disdain the virtues of boredom too much. *grin*

Thanks for reading and reviewing.

So, the divisions between those who remained in the West and those who went to the East still remain (no real surprise there). I liked the intervention of the Maiar, very handy for the two "young" ones. This wedding will come off, but the turns and twists in the road are so much fun. I hope Glorfindel is having a good time with his maple tree and won't catch too much grief over letting the two ellons out of his direct care.

Author Reply: Hi Erulisse. The events here and those chronicled in Elf, Interrupted are only a dozen years apart, not nearly enough time for all the old animosities to die down. And Elves being Elves with such long memories it will take a lot of time.

I think with the influx of Reborn that will soon inundate Tirion, the Valar have decided to post a few watchers now, and that's a good thing for our two Vanyar. *grin*

We'll see in the next chapter how things fare for them all. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
