A Long-Expected Wedding  by Fiondil 17 Review(s)

Ooops! I meant dishes recalling death and horror - not fabric.

Too many things for even little ole me.

Author Reply: No worries, Agape. I sort of figured out what you were trying to say. Thanks for the clarification.

I'd read the previous chapter before I saw the new Hobbit Diary #4. There is a piece of fabric that the costume designer shows that seems to be a hint of the fabric used on poor Finrod's garment. http://www.thehobbitblog.com/ Time frame of 8:03 and a little afterwards. I had to laugh when I saw it and I immediately thought of our dear Elf.

As for this chapter... WOW! Honestly - I think they best put some Maiar around Finrod till all this is over.

The stress the poor Elf is undergoing is beyond what one Elf should have to endure... what with Almáriel's idiocy, Amarië's disappearance (I have NOT forgiven her for deserting Finrod at this time), the Reborn returning NOW, MORE kings in the Blessed Realm, fabric that recalls death and pain and horror, and the cruelest blow of all, the wedding dress.

You are a wicked man, Fiondil. Perhaps you should be banished to Formenos.... No. That would only give you more time to create vicious and horrific things to assail our Elf.

Author Reply: Hi Agape. Took a look at the blog and I think I saw the fabric there, too. LOL!

I'm sure Manwë has already ordered an entire contingent of Maiar to keep an eye only our little arsonist. He certainly has been under quite a bit of stress lately, hasn't he? *snicker*

And like Glorfindel being exiled to some remote outpost in Gondolin, being exiled to Formenos probably wouldn't be a good idea... you never know what else I might come up with. LOL!

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

It sounds like there is a story behind Amarië's disappearance - from the way Castamir shut his wife up, I'd guess that Almáriel has been throwing her weight around and generally been making a nuisance of herself in Vanyamar. At a guess there are more people than Finrod and Glorfindel who think she is a Balrog. Or Balrogess?
So no sneaking into the sewing room and setting fire to that ugly outfit. Instead, Finrod evidently has a nightmare that becomes something like one of his flashbacks, and goes off to destroy Sauron, ahem, that outfit with a song of Power. Though the sewing room also seems to have gone down the drain with it. and I suppose it was only Námo's appearance that prevented Finrod and Glorfindel from flattening the palace and half of Tirion with it. Talk about overkill!

It wouldn't surprise me if right now Arafinwë and Eärwen are wishing Finrod and Amarie had their wedding Sindarin-style!

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. Naturally there's a story behind Amarië's disappearance and though we won't see it here; it will be mentioned later when Amarië does finally show up.

And apparently that's what happened. Finrod's run-of-the-mill-I've-had-this-nightmare-before-and-I-can-handle-it dream morphed into something else and his unconscious simply took over and gave everyone a show. LOL! As soon as Finrod and Glorfindel began using Songs of Power, I imagine every Vala and Maia was instantly aware of it, which is why Námo showed up. Luckily, he was able to counteract Finrod's spell (Glorfindel was just holding him at bay). It will certainly make for interesting breakfast conversation in the palace, that's for sure. *grin*

Thanks for reading and reviewing, Sunny. It's much appreciated.

NOW thats what I call a campfire!!! Personally I don't see what the problem is, that wedding gown was giving me nightmares. I'm not so sure it wasn't Sauren bred.

Great chapter as usual.

PS. thank Castmir for me, some one really needed to put a sock in Almariels mouth.

E.

Author Reply: Hi eliza. Campire, indeed! Too bad no one thought to bring marshmallows. LOL! Anyway, I'm sure a lot of people thought Finrod's wedding garb was Sauron-bred. Certainly, he thought so, at least within his dream. *grin* And Castamir is pretty laid-back about most things, but even Almáriel can go too far. I'm sure many who know him were rather surprised at the way he spoke up. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Best thing that could be done with those hideous clothes, really. And probably the best thing for Mistress Cucualindë's career, too-- that would have been a poisonous commission to show. After the disaster of the plates, I don't know how Almáriel is trusted with the final say on any aesthetic matter.

Is Morwen by any chance on the mainland? Because as a matter of honor, she should have had the wedding clothes commission the entire time. Eärwen should have respected Finrod's promise.

Actually, thinking of Morwen makes me wonder just what Amarië is doing... I wonder if she ran off rather than face a similar sartorial disaster, and is in cahoots with Morwen correcting the whole mess.

Author Reply: Hi Parmalokwen. I'm sure everyone agrees with you on that. *grin* Morwen lives on Tol Eressëa which is why Eärwen felt it too awkward and I suspect that Almárel let her own prejudices influence her, thinking that a Tol Eressëan couldn't possibly compete with a mainland seamstress. As for what Amarië is doing on the island, that will be revealed soon enough. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

One of the best chapters of fanfiction I have read! This was overpowering. Great job.

Author Reply: Hi UTfrog. Thank you so much. I'm so glad you think so. I appreciate you letting me know.

Oh, excellent! A bonfire, Songs of Power-style. And that horrid outfit is totally toast! So happy. Even if Lord Namo was temporarily out of temper, I think there is nobody better to take care of Finrod right now. ... yeah, happy, happy! Now it's time for a wedding.

Author Reply: Hi Erulisse. Glad you are happy to see the wedding garb get toasted. *grin* The wedding is still some days off and much can happen in the meantime. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
