Elf Academy Part Deux  by Fiondil 14 Review(s)

More trouble looming indeed! How to find the mole? I wouldn't discount any of the students on the roster. Alex is also a student. Why does Shane's mother want to rescue her? What did she hear? That emergency sounds quaint against the problem of the mole, but it is somewhat less serious (at least at the moment).

Interesting that Alex had the thought of faking his death and going to Ambrose for help. This is not the Maia's doing "influencing" people? Alex has shown himself to be remarkable sensitive to things since he is in Wiseman. Unfortunately, it didn't work... for now.

Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. Shane's mother probably didn't want her to go so far away from home in the first place and 'rescue' is probably Shane's interpretation of her mother's motive for visiting.

And Alex's thoughts of getting out of the Game by faking his death with Ambrose' help is solely is own. No Maiarin influence involved. And Alex's sensitivity will, in one sense, be his downfall, as we will see shortly.

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. It very much appreciated.

Atto,

Actually, I suspect Whitman. Bogart is too obvious, and Jack Whitman is the name of a young man in the Rebecca Wells "Ya-Ya" series, a brother of one of the main characters, who apparently died in WWII. His Maman thinks he survived and vanished...

*worries for Shane* I like Shane. Hope she'll be all right!

Tye-melin Atto.

Kaylee

P.S. I knew it meant evil bear without looking! And FIONWE!!!! *huggles Fionwe* Yay!

Author Reply: Hi Kaylee. We'll have to see if your suspicion is correct. And we'll see how Shane copes with her mother. And I guess everyone likes Fionwë (and what's not to like? *grin*)

Thanks for reviewing. Tye-melin.

Oh, Eru, that's all we need Shane's Mom thinking Elf Accadamy is some kind of cult! Though I am sure there are a few Ministers in the area who would be more than willing to jump on the Band Wagon!

Nice to see the Valar are keeping a very close eye on all that is going on and good to see Fionwe again, even if he is playing Jimmany Cricket! I got the first instance, when they were training Glorfy to use his evil awareness talent, but the duel with the High King had me going 'Huh?!' till I remembered Ingwe's novel solution to flushing out the last of the malcontents or at least that batch of them, I am sure more have raised there ugly heads since then!

Early start to day, stupid One Day Sale! grumble, grumble, grumble!

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Probably that's what Shane's mom thinks or something similar. *grin* After all, Shane is Jewish. What's she doing hanging around a bunch of people pretending to be Christmas elves? Jews don't celebrate Christmas? Why is she working for people who are obviously NOT Jewish, etc. etc. etc.? Anyway, we'll see something of her when she arrives.

Glad you recognized the references to Glorfindel's past, though I put the note in so people wouldn't have to go hunting for the references, or go 'huh?' because they'd forgotten about these events in Glorfindel's life.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate it very much.

So Our Heroes think they have found the rat in the granary - or think they have. Only time will tell if they are right - since you certainly won't!! :-D It will also be interesting to see if he is the only one. In any case, the elves are taking steps to prevent that there be anything for the Agency to find that they _don't_ want found.
But - Humphrey Bogart! What kind of name for an agent is that?? Aren't they supposed to be inconspicuous and not draw attention to themselves? The name itself is a real attention-getter here! (Of course, if the Valar are ... influencing things, ensuring that the Secret Agent gets an attention-getting cover name would be easy enough. Or Mr. bogart could be a red herring...) :-P
So Shane's mother is coming to "rescue" her? If she is over 18 she can't just drag her daughter out of there. It should be interesting to see _why_ she wants to rescue her daughter, too. Is she a religious nut out to rescue her daughter from the perils of secularity and independence? Is she a corporate drone out to get her daughter back onto the path of economic success? Or is she merely a worried mother who wants to make up with her daughter? I hope it is the last, and that Glorfindel and Mithrellas (and Shane herself) is able to convince her that Shane is perfectly safe and happy where she is, and that she is _not_ involved in some sort of cult.
That litte interlude with Fionwë was fun - the others know Glorfindel only by his towering reputation as The Balrog Slayer and the tough-as-nails commander of the Imladris warriors, or as the leader of their merry little band, so it is quite fun for them to hear about some, ahem, less-than-sterling moments in Glorfindel's past. ;-)

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. You're that only time will tell and you know I love to put in red herrings to keep my readers amused. *LOL!* And sometimes red herrings of red herrings.

As for Shane's mother... she's a Jewish mom worried for her daughter living away from homw, far away, and she can't handle it. And the fact that Shane is working for Elf Academy of all things makes it even worse.

I'm glad you enjoyed the interlude with Fionwë putting Glorfindel in his place. I'm sure the other Elves pestered him unmercifully later for the entire story about his challenging Ingwë to a duel and why.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
