Elf Academy Part Deux  by Fiondil 12 Review(s)

poor Alex, thinks he has learned the truth? I eager to see how he reacts in learning about the Valar and Maiar and being part of an upcoming fight leading ultimately to an Armageddon? He has only seen the tip of the iceberg now! Hopefully it´s not too much for a mortal to process but maybe he is really someone special, a late decendant of Beren or something like that? That would surely help. Why can I not encounter an elf? Only one, mustn´t be that much, but only one? (I would be very happy with Elrond - LOL!)THank you for another very interesting chapter. Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. Yes, he still needs to learn about the Valar and the upcoming war, but one thing at a time. As for his being a descendant of Beren, that's an interesting idea and we'll have to see what comes of it. He is certainly special, regardless of his ancestry, simply because the Valar have chosen him to join Team!Glorfindel. LOL! It would be nice (and scary) to meet even one Elf, I agree. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Atto,

Sorry about the lack of reviews over this past week. Emma arrived on Tuesday, not Monday, but Monday was spent in a hectic rush getting last-minute preparations done. *grin* I read the chapter on time - just haven't had much time this week to sit down and think out coherent reviews!

Anyway, so Alex has got a lot to reassess, hasn't he? His entire worldview is changing. Elves, indeed. I wonder just when he'll find out Dan and Roy are his 'uncles', exactly? LOL!

Tye-melin,

Kaylee

Author Reply: No problem, Kaylee. Glad Emma got home safely. As to when Alex finds out he has 'uncles', that will occur soon enough.

Tye-melin.

LOL – now that's an idea, the Elves singing all the kids in Wiseman to sleep! The belaguered mothers would love that, no doubt :D

Why Alex reacted so strongly to the story of Beren and Luthien in comparison to the other songs he heard is something I would like to know, too. Could the Valar have something to do with the whole thing as well?

Glad he was wondering how to deal with Farrell and protect the Elves in the process. He seems ready to work with them, which looks hopeful. I hope they grow on him enough to switch sides completely ;) And together, they may find a way to deal with the situation. The Elves have probably lived more millennia than Alex has years, they should have a few tricks in their pockets, and with his and Amroth's insider knowledge, they might just be able to get the Agency off their backs.

Nice to learn a bit more about what the Elves did in the first ages of the world, the one we know from the work of the Professor.

Now you have me again wondering if the Valar sent the pictures, or caused someone to send them. But I have to agree, Alex could be useful if they could get Farrell and the others off their back and Alex staying with them – provided the Agency doesn't decide to terminate all of them. But then, where would the story be in that? So I hope you don't plan to send any of them to Námo any time soon.

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. We'll learn more about why Alex reacted as strongly as he did to the story of Beren and Lúthien over the next couple of chapters. And, as far as I know, I don't intend to send any of the Elves to Námo (though he may come to them, which isn't quite the same thing *grin*).

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Hi Fiondil,I have not reviewed this story until yet, not because, I do not like it,but I have some trouble following it. There are so many hints and jokes I can hardly understand and so many references to actual incidents or locations I have no knowledge of, but what I understand is so good and so much fun and I wanted you to simply know. Like this story very much and our hereos I know all the more well. Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. I can understand that some of what is written is topical or you need some knowledge of American culture to understand, but I am glad you are enjoying the story nonetheless and I appreciate you letting me know. Hopefully, you will continue enjoying the story and it doesn't get too confusing for you. And if you don't understand something in the story, you can always send me a PM and I'd be happy to explain it.

Well, at least Alex is reserving judgment, not running into full battle mode. And if he can see the light, he can be a valuable player. Dunedain, huh? Interesting linkage that you're making here. I love the fact that he only reacted over-the-top with the Lay, not any of the earlier histories. It looks like you've got quite a ways still to go on this, and I'll enjoy each chapter now that I'm finally caught up again.

Author Reply: Hi Erulisse. We'll be exploring more of Alex's supposed heritage in the next couple of chapters. And, yes, there is still quite a bit more of this story and I'm glad you are looking forward to more. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

At least they are all on the same page right now, and know what one another is capable of as well as being willing to cooperate. Now--how to deal with Farrell.

Question: Is Derek there with an agenda of his own? Curious minds wish to know....

Author Reply: It does help if everyone is on the same page, doesn't it, Larner? *grin* We'll see if they continue being on the same page as events unfold. And yes, they now have to deal with Farrell and how that is accomplished will be seen shortly.

As for Derek... we'll learn more about him and his role in all this soon enough.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's much appreciated.

I'm surprised how easily Alex has accepted the truth which, in our modern society, is a bit on the hair-raising side. Or will there be a backlash eventually?

I think they should work on identifying all those agents in earnest before it will be too late, though. Farrell & Co won't hesitate to take out both Alex and Amroth, I'm afraid.

As for who sent the photos... I suddenly have this mental image of Maranwë putting them into an envelope. After all, Alex was meant to go to the Academy, right?

Author Reply: HI Soledad. Well, Alex's training has probably helped him to appear calm and collected on the outside. I don't think the import of what he now knows has sunk all the way in yet, but it will, never fear.

As for who might have sent the photos... Maiarin interference, heh? Now there's a thought.... We'll find out eventually what's up with the photos. You're right that they were the catalyst for getting Alex to the Academy when he wouldn't otherwise have been there.

Thanks for your review. It's very much appreciated.

Alex seems very calm and collected for someone whose worldview has turned upside down. I'm sure that in one part of his mind he is wondering, "What's next - the Easter Bunny?" And I'm sure another part of his mind _really_ wishes that the weekend had been a weird dream - or that the people at Edhellond were some kind of weird cult that for some reason had sprung for matching pieces of cosmetic surgery on their ears, and that the weird light-effects and what happened to him when Daeron sang were the result of something he ate... but Amroth and the others certainly were real enough - and so are his bruises from the other night, when Amroth worked on those old posthypnotic commands.

I don't think Alex is quite ready for the concept of the Valar and the Maiar as yet. (Angels and Archangels, woot!)
So are some other going to arrive at Edhellond during this story? And if so, who? Perhaps Maglor? Or a couple of Ellith who will proceed to turn the mighty Balrog-Slayer and his bardic sidekick into a pair of lovestruck idiots? (That little quip of Glorfindel's in a previous chapter, that he and Daeron were too old for that kind of nonsense, really deserves such a response from ... someone. And the Valar do like to meddle...) ;-)

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. Probably he seems so calm because it hasn't all sunk in yet, and don't forget, with his espionage background, he's used to regrouping on the run, as it were, and this probably doesn't feel any different for him just yet.

As to your question about others arriving at Edhellond (and why does everyone expect Maglor to show up? That' so obvious!), we will have to wait and see. And ellith for Glorfindel and Daeron... now there's a nasty thought. LOL!

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. It's much appreciated.

A fragile alliance against Farrell and to find the other agents - well, it's a start! Alex has had so much to assimilate over just a few days; I'm glad Glorfindel is wise enough to let him chew on things for a while before dropping the bomb about the existence of Eru, the Valar and Maiar. Poor guy - his world is well and truly being turned upside down!

Now to watch the spy vs. spy cat and mouse game play itself out... It feels like the calm before the storm.

Author Reply: Hi Lyana. A very fragile alliance and so much can go wrong with it without any of them half-trying. We'll see how things go from here. And it is indeed something like the calm before the storm.

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Well, at least they are working together. As usual, this story is getting better and better.

Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. Glad you are still enjoying this story. Thanks for letting me know. I very much appreciate it.
