Elf Academy Part Deux  by Fiondil 1245 Review(s)
LaikwalâsseReviewed Chapter: 20 on 2/22/2013
poor Alex, the weekend isn´t over and he has already seen Glorfindel in full Elf-Lord mode and was taken away like Beren by the elleth´s dancing. I do not know if I should envy or sorrow him. Can´t hardly wait to read on but so much chapers still to go and so less time. Glorfindel´s apron was priceless. Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. Alex has been having a rough time of it, hasn't he, and as you say, the weekend isn't even over with. We'll see what else is in store for our hapless hero. Glad you liked Glorfindel's apron. I thought it would be just like him to wear something so outrageous. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

I would go out of my mind would I be in Alex´ shoes. First he has to accept that all the people around him are somewhat strange, then his cover is blown so easily, his confidence shaken his looking at the world twisted. As much as I would love to be among so much elves, now they scare me with all the hints and shreds of explanations. Does Glorfindel really not know what happened at the tarn - that Alex was rescued by a Vala, yes? - or does he want Alex to explain and see the truth? It´s really not healthy for a mortal to be in the company of elves - wow they can shake your confidence! The conditioning thing was very creepy. Hope Alex can soon relax and change sides with these wonderful beings. What has he done with the room? He had did not fight agianst so many elves, had he? Thank you for another breath-holding chapter. Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. Alex obviously has some issues to deal with and Glorfindel has figured out from what Alex says that Alex must've had an encounter with Námo but will not speak of it since Alex isn't ready to listen to what he has to say about the Valar; he still doesn't know that he's surrounded by Elves. That will come later as you will see. And he pretty much did a lot of damage to the room when he exploded after Amroth used the trigger word on him, but now that has been dealt with so he shouldn't have any troubles with it. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it.

now Alex begins to understand what it means to live amongst elves - many mysteries and never a clear anwer to a clear question. Really frustrating, but that´s how they are and how we love them. Warding the perimeter - I had to shudder at that thought. For elves nothing unusual but for a poor mortal like me or Alex......? Again you have reminded how different the elves are from mortals. I like this the most. It´s another race and Alex is slowling realizing that - but I would go out of my mind with so many unaswered questions and on the other hand I would so enjoy to be among them - sigh. Liked the talk about Dante and his sight about the universe. I have never read Dante, but your description made me really curious. Thank you for a wonderful, interesting and very elfy chapter. Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. Dante is certainly worth reading if you can find a decent translation. You can read the entire Divine Comedy online actually and there are several different translations. Check it out.

Daeron is obviously trying to lead Alex to think in a certain way rather than in the materialistic way he has thought of the universe up to now. Basically, he's trying to prepare him for the revelation that there are indeed Elves in the world and he's living among them. We'll see how Alex reacts once he learns the truth.

I'm glad you found the chapter wonderful, interesting and elfy (is there such a word? LOL!). I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. Thanks.

the dream sounds frightening and the intensive presence of Elves shows that it is not something to be ignored but maybe the Elves should let some room for Alex to sort his thoughts out. Their comments do not really help poor Alex. Nightmare or not, what would I give to be cared for by so many elves...sigh. Lai

Author Reply: Hi Lai. Yes, the dream was probably very frightening, and you are correct that the comments of the Elves were not helping Alex at all, but I agree, that it would be nice to be cared for by so many elves. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Oh, so Derek got a job, and even a permanent one, already? Good :) We all want him to stay, too, after all, of that I am sure. And Alex's plans sound good. It's something he will enjoy, of that I am sure.

Maddy did a good job, from the looks of it. Glad she managed to remove all these photos and other proof that Dolan could use. Hopefully, that is going to give them a bit of peace.

Looks like everything wraps up well now. They certainly deserve a break!

Why do I get the feeling there are a few couples in the making, and maybe not all of them pure Elven? Or maybe I am reading too much into that remark about Nielluin. Oh well, I am sure I'm going to find out one day, seeing that's not the last we have heard of Elf Academy.

Thank you for another wonderful story, I enjoyed it very much (even if I was a bit late in reviewing). It was great to hear more of our favourite Elves and Mortals and their Academy and add more to the group.

One story down, another one to go ;)

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. We may see evidence of couples in the making as the story progresses in other installments, and whether any of them are not pure Elven remains to be seen. I'm glad you enjoyed this story and I appreciate you taking the time to leave reviews, however late. Enjoy the next installment.

*grin* Yeah, that's what I thought, Aman has to be rather boring in comparison to the times of 'Elf Interrupted'!

*snort* Alex Grant, clueless dude? He'd not manage to be clueless if he tried! But I like the idea of him working with Amroth and Derek for the Academy in the capacity of intelligence officers. Not so much for strictly intelligence purposes, but for safety as well. They know what to do and how to look for something and all that.

The Maiar keeping an eye on the Agency could be interesting, you know. Maddy and Sanderson aren't as bad as they try to look like, so I like the idea of them being secretly helped and protected by the Maiar. Besides, with Manveru and Erunaro on the job, who knows what havoc they are going to wreak? ;)

So I wasn't the only one worried about Alex's Mum. Glad to know if push comes to shove, the Maiar are going to protect her, but I'd prefer her to move to Wiseman. It would be good for Alex himself, too, I believe.

Yay! Not only Maddy and Sanderson are in, but Alex finally said yes, too! *does a happy dance* That's what I have hoped for since early into the story. Perfect :)

Author Reply: Alex saying yes is what lots of readers have been hoping for all along, Kitty. Not that it will all be gravy for him from now on. There is still a lot he needs to work through to be completely healed but he's made the most important decision towards that healing. He will be a great asset to the Elves and hopefully he'll be able to convince his mom to move to Wiseman, but we won't see if he's successful in that endeavor until Elf Academy 3. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

That whole story coming to light doesn't show the Agency in a good light, if you ask me. Too many people working behind the backs of others, doing their own stuff, using the Agency for private purposes ... The thought of an organisation like that responsible for homeland security makes me uncomfortable, to be honest. They seem to be too much out of control to be trustworthy any longer.

Things are becoming clearer who did what and ordered what, for which I am glad. And I have to say, Amroth did a good job in telling that much but still keeping to himself that he indeed did murder Bradford. (Not that I blame him, that guy called for it!)

Now that was fun. If Farrell thought he's drop a bombshell with the fact of Elves existing, he must have been so disappointed! And I totally loved how that priest dealt with Peterson. Just because something is in the bible or not, doesn't mean that's the whole truth, or necessarily still applies in our days. The fact that these arguments came from another priest made it even better. When you add Námo's words, I hope certain people are going to be a bit less hostile now.

At least Maddy showed some common sense concerning the Bradford situation and Farrell's need for revenge. There's hope for her yet.

The reason why Finrod insisted on this Court is becoming clearer, isn't it? People have a lot to think about now, and I hope they are coming to the right conclusions. The Elves don't need any more animosities than there are already.

Author Reply: Yes, the reason for Finrod's Court is clearer now. Much has been revealed that few knew about, yet what was revealed is vitally important so that the people of Wiseman can make the choices they need to make in full knowledge of the consequences of those choices. How that all works out (for good or for ill) remains to be seen. And the priest's comments on the bible are ones I've always held to. We'll actually see more of the priest in the next Elf Academy story. He pays a pivotal role. Thanks for reviewing, Kitty. I appreciate it greatly.

Good of Judge Harrison to tell Amroth not to say anything. We all know he killed Bradford, but it's better he doesn't admit it openly. As they said, there is no proof.

Love the idea of calling Maddy as a witness. Not what she wanted, but serves her right. There are some things that I hope get out.

Now, Námo's entrance was a surprise; hadn't expected him to show up during the trial, and even less to say what he did. Not that I am complaining, mind you!

The rest was interesting. So there are people at the Agency who are playing dirty and trying to deceive their Deputy Director, too? Her explanations how she tried to find out what actually happened left me less angry with Maddy. Seems it was not just disinterest or neglect of duty on her side. That Agency needs a clean-up, from the looks of it.

Author Reply: Tell you the truth, Kitty, I didn't expect Námo to show up as he did, either, but he's a law unto himself and I'm not stupid enough to tell him no. LOL! And you're right, the Agency does need a thorough spring cleaning but it's not going to happen overnight, unfortunately. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's very much appreciated.

Can't really blame the three for being a bit dubious about this Court, as I feel the same.

Finrod certainly made sure to give his Court some style, even if he can't hold it in the palace at home.

Really loved it when Alex handed over his resignation. He may have said earlier it's not a job from which you resign, but I always wanted him to do it anyway. Now I just hope Maddy accepts, if she wants to or not.

The revelation that Alex was sent to basically kill Amroth – as he wouldn't return to the fold – must have been quite a shock for everyone who didn't know. But I hope his testimony shows that he wasn't really going to do it – we don't want him to be looked upon with suspicion or even hatred by everyone, after all.

Good question. If Maddy knew from the beginning that Farrell only wanted revenge, then this whole undertaking is even worse. Using the Agency to appease the thirst for revenge of one agent would be inexcusable.

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Many were dubious about the Court, but, as Finrod will point out, it serves a purpose other than to exact judgment, which he rightly knows belongs to the mortal courts. Handing Maddy his resignation was probably the bravest thing Alex/Artemus has ever done, though he would not see it that way. And, of course, more is going on at the Agency than even Maddy knows as we will see before long. Thanks for the comments. I appreicate it very much.

Poor Zach and Derek, it will take time for them to get over their traumatic experience. As Alex said, at least he's trained for it (though I wonder how hard it will be for him), but these two aren't. It's probably good that they aren't alone for Thanksgiving, as it seems to be a family feast and they are all alone.

Speaking of Alex's Mum ... I've been wondering. These idiots were so hell bent on using him to get at Amroth and were thwarted. Would they, if they get off somehow – or any of the wirepullers in Washington – try to get back at Alex by way of his Mum? Somehow I want her to move to Wiseman, just in case.

Things are affecting Alex more than he wants to admit even to himself, I think. But it did him some good to talk to his Mum, and I hope that were healing tears. In any case, I am glad the Elves and Derek are there for him, he needs them now.

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Yes, it'll take some time for Zach and Derek to recover. And Alex is hurting more than he realizes. Having the Elves and Derek there for him will be a great help in his own healing. We'll see something of Anne in the next Elf Academy installment. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.
