The Journey Home  by Fiondil 16 Review(s)

What a beautiful chapter, I totally expected Earendil, Elwing and Elrond to speak for him!!! :) Seems like just the thing to be done for the love and care he poured to the twins... and that memory of Elrond was too lovely, hahahaha, Maglor explaning how the trap should have been done to be able to kill him, I can totally see it!!!

Although I must say I'm dissapointed in the three Kings and Queens two of them (Olwe and Arafinwe) said they had forgiven him but when it is time to stand up to it in front of everyone they chicken out or more to the point with hold a public "pardon" before the Valar and the rest of Aman, even if it is only for apperances they should have spoken up.

Author Reply: Hi Monalex. The whole thing was carefully orchestrated, as we see it hinted by the fact that even Finrod did not speak up, but he had already discussed what should be done with the Harthadrim with the Valar beforehand. More than likely the Valar told the kings not to do or say anything, to allow others to speak if they wished. Eärendil and Elwing and Elrond were the best choice for giving a public display of forgiveness toward Maglor, for they were the most injured by his actions.

I'm glad, though, that you enjoyed the sharing of memories between Maglor and Elrond.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a coment. I greatly appreciate it.

Please delete previous review. (That'll learn me to review before my first cup of tea, or I could blame the cat, she got me up at 5:50 a.m. to help her hunt for a critter in the bedroom, that cat has got to learn how to operate a flash light for herself!)

So, one more time:-

Just a few eyes to cross and tees to dot! Or is there more, pretty please we have to see Maglor meet with his family.

Good to see Arthalion reunite with his brother and to know that he is not guilty of Kin Slaying!

I'm awake now, I think?

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: No problem, Lynda. I knew what you meant. Thanks for sending a corrected review, though. Yes, just one more chapter and we will be bringing this story to a close, but there's another waiting in the wings and I'll start posting that story right after the Fourth. So stay tuned. Thanks for reviewing (twice!). It's much appreciated. Hugs.

Hehehe, I didn't think Thranduil would want to be without his Dorwinion wine - so he took Dorwinion grapevines with him. I wonder if he also decided to go into the winemaking business? Just to be assured that he would have _good_ wine available, of course... ;)
I see Maglor is being very much the proud father when he compares Estel's lamps with one of the ones in Oromë's house. :)
So wonderful that Eärendil himself came forward to speak for Maglor! And the interaction between Maglor and Elrond was also great!
So the Harthadrim are all going to Lórien for a while to rest and to figure out how to integrate into Valinórean society. And letting Finrod oversee this? Pure genius! He is such a wonderfully compassionate person, and yet, being a Reborn, he might well decide to tutor some of the younger Harthadrim in the Art of Driving the Valar Batty if that is going to help their with integration. ;)
And of course *reaches for the box of Kleenex* the meeting between Arthad and Arthalion was wonderful, and greatly anticipated.

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. Finrod is certainly the best one for the job of overseeing the Harthadrim's integration into Amanian society, having had to do it himself once.

I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter, especially the reunion between Arthalion and Arthad. Definitely a 3-hanky moment.

Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

This was beautiful, meldonya. I'm smiling enough to make my face hurt and blinking back tears at the same time. I have two images stuck in my head now that will keep that smile on my face all day: Elrond hugging Maglor and Arthalion and Arthad running to each other.

A perfect Judgment in all ways!

Edlyn

Author Reply: Hi Edlyn. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Elrond hugging Maglor and Arthalion and Arthad reuniting are, to me, the highlights of the chapter. Thanks for leaving a comment. I really appreciate it.

The Judgment is just. Let none dispute it or seek to lay it aside.”

And there we have it, finally. What a just and wise gathering; if only our governments could do as well!

Oh, to see those two brothers reunited! What a joy.

Author Reply: The entire chapter is joyful, Shirebound. I'm a sucker for happy endings. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Beautifully written. I love that Elrond and family spoke for Maglor. Good idea to send everyone to Lorien for healing and for education in modern Aman. Thank you.
