Valiant  by Kara's Aunty 47 Review(s)

I love this. None of the fallen heroes should be forgotten, and this is a wonderful tribute.

Author Reply: Hello shirebound,

how right. They should all be honoured, man, beast or otherwise. And I'm honoured you find Windfola's drabble a fitting tribute.

Thanks very much for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Author Reply: I wrote Windfola. I meant Snowmane ...

*rolls eyes at self*

I like this one very much!

Eowyn and Merry were the perfect team to kill the Witch King of Angmar.
To Windfola this was clear even before the battle had started because of their perfect (combined) weight ;-)

Author Reply: Hello Andrea!

it does appear WIndfola was smarter than any of us. Maybe he had a sort of horsey premonition, eh? Or maybe not ... if he had, he wouldn't have gone anywhere near the Pelennor, knowing the scary Witch-king was going to be there!

Glad you're enjoying the series, and thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Ah, the Witch-king is about to meet his doom carried on a horse. Gotta love it. :)

Namarie, God bless, Your bloom :)

Author Reply: Hello Tooky bloom,

yep. THe Witch-king's officially cacking his trousers as we write.

If he wears any trousers, that is ...

Thanks for R & R-ing, petal,

What fun to get these POVs. :)

Author Reply: Hello shirebound,

glad you're enjoying the unusual povs. They're a bit harder to write, though - it's not easy pretending to be an animal!

*grins*

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Lovely! Captures Shadowfax's independence, and the relationship between himself and Gandalf (mutual friendship, no master-and-beast there) quite effectively.

Author Reply: Hello Lindelea,

thanks very much. That was just what I wanted to show; the independent monarch of the mearas deciding to aid a friend, as opposed to a beast obeying a command. Glad you liked it!

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Happy Easter, dear cousin! Christ is Risen! He is truly Risen!

Nice last two chapters. Keep them coming! I will hold onto the hope you gave me that more of the other will be coming and I do want all to be right so I will wait.

Namarie, God bless, Your bloom and berry :)

Author Reply: Hello m'dear!

And a belated Happy Easter to you, too. Felicitations and great joy!

Am delighted you continue to enjoy the new drabbles. They are a pleasure to write (mainly because they're so short, admittedly!).

Thanks for R & R-ing, and all the very best, cousin mine!

This drabbles are lovely. I really enjoyed reading them and recalling the unsung heroes. Especially enjoyed those about Bill and Shadowfax.

Author Reply: Hello Linda Hoyland,

there were so many brave horses and valiant creatures that defended ME alongside the humans/elves/dwarves/etc, that - as an animal lover - it seemed only right to honour some of them. I'm glad you're enjoying the series. I particularly liked hearing who your favourite two drabbles were about: Bill's & Shadowfax. From sweet and humble to majestic and kingly - it makes a lovely contrast!

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

'Urgent need' his hoof!

LOL!!! This is great! Why did the word "diva" suddenly come into my mind? ;-)

Author Reply: Hello Andrea,

why did 'diva' come to mind? Because Shadowfax was being one. Eat your heart out Diana Ross!

Thanks for R & R-ing, m'dear.

Oh, but I love this one! He'll walk if there are any trolls, eh? Don't blame him! Heh!

Author Reply: Hello Larner,

carting a wizard around who was seemingly determined to throw himself into the worst hotspots in Arda couldn't have been any fun, eh? Still, Shadowfax is a meara - and not just any old meara at that! I'm sure he laughed often in the face of danger himself.

Just so long as there were no boulder-chucking trolls involved ...

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

PS: I tried several times to leave a review for Chapter 57 (A Moment of Light) of your Another Moment of your Time frodo-centric fics, but regardless of how often I clicked on the 'Leave Review' button, or how quick, hard/soft I tried to click said button, it just wouldn't let me, even though I was logged in. I even (rather craftily, I thought) navigated to the Chapter List page, then worked my way down every chapter, clicking on each one and scrolling to the bottom of the page to see if it would let me leave a review. Again no joy.

So, let me just tell you now that I thought 'A Moment of Light' was poignant, wonderfully vivid and beautifully poignant. Poor wee Frodo ...

*sniffle, sob*

M ;)

Author Reply: I said 'poignant' twice. What a numbskull! I meant to say'descriptive' the first time, because you have such a gift for it!

I love the idea of Shadowfax having a sense of humor, and a mind of his own.

Author Reply: Hello shirebound,

it was hard to resist the temptation to portray him as the noble, heroic Lord of the Mearas.

Hard, but not impossible ...

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)
