I love the hair-cutting scene. It was all I wanted from it.

Author Reply: Thanks! I'm so glad it fulfilled expectations.

Another marvelous chapter in this epic tale! I'm glad Aragorn finally got his hair trimmed up, and I enjoyed his conversation with Arwen; it was sweet music to my ears, and so perfectly in-character. I also appreciated the mention of Glorfindel (I really like his character in "The Valley is Jolly") and Moroch and Roheryn. I wonder if they would compete for Aragorn's affection if they were to meet.

Basically, I enjoyed your writing (as always) and I can't wait to hear about the revelry and singing following the feast!

Cheers!

Author Reply: Thank you so much! It's always the greatest of compliments to know that my characterization is apt. How lovely to know you liked Glorfindel in "The Valley is Jolly"! He's so wonderful to write.

Ah, yes... Moroch and Roheryn together. ;-)

Love this chapter. You filled it with the tiny details that make all the characters so real. Thanks

Author Reply: Oh, thank you: what a lovely remark. You spoil me.

Wonderful! I loved that we finally got the scene between Arwen and Aragorn and that, at last, he's found his understanding and can see it from another's perspective (one he finally believes). I'm glad he got to enjoy the feast, as it seemed pretty nice...

Author Reply: Thank you! Yes, Aragorn really did need to look at himself from another perspective, didn't he?

I am really starting to enjoy your characterization of Arwen more and more. You seem to have really captured the heart, wisdom, support, and love of her character so well. I am not sure I have read anyone else's work that has done such a great job with her. Then you add your characterization of Aragorn into the mix and you have pure gold. By any chance could you be tempted to write a story about Aragorn's meeting with Arwen after his time spent in Gondor and their betrothal? Or the final culmination of their long wait and their final reunion and wedding? You have such a unique and wonderful take on their relationship and their characters it would be a masterpiece I am sure. You have a way of writing them that is much greater and more meaningful that just a simple romance. Plus it would be chance to delve into the world of Galadriel and Celeborn again which you gave just a taste of in this story or see Aragorn and Arwen achieve their dreams that they have long been unable to speak of.

Author Reply: Thank you so much! It means a lot to know how much you like my portrayal of Arwen! I've long been tempted by that very meeting in Lothlorien, and indeed of some tales of their bliss after the War. The former should wait until I'm done with the tale of Thorongil's time in Gondor, though. ;-)

I'm so delighted that you thought so highly of this chapter. Thank you!

I was ecstatic to see so many updates! But this chapter is my absolute favorite. I have searched long and hard for good Arwen stories. She is such a shadowy figure in the book and yet there are hints all along about Aragorn's devotion to her even before the appendices. Most stories would have her sewing or sobbing and it was so wonderful to find a story that showed her wisdom and strength.
I loved the absolute trust you showed between them. Aragorn must be used to keeping his own counsel and that he would unburden himself to her shows the ultimate testament of his respect for her as well as love. The whole setting, the mundane mixed with heartfelt confessions was amazingly intimate. I can truly feel how wonderful their love was despite all the pain it brought to Arwen and her kin. Their rule must have been glorious!
I don't know how long this story will continue (I am hoping you would continue on to the War of the Ring) but I truly hope that you would write a story someday about his coronation and their wedding. Like I mentioned before, he comes alive to me through your writings. I will definitely wish that the muse hits you! I know this is a long review but I cannot stop raving about how good this tale is! Thank you so much!

Author Reply: I think that glorious is indeed the PERFECT word for the reign of Elessar and Undomiel! I grinned at the idea of Arwen "sewing or sobbing". Not that I won't have her doing the first from time to time, but the latter would just about explicitly contradict the strength we see in her in canon! It is marvelous to know that the trust between them came across so well, and that you found it fitting.

Oh, I think the events between this and the beginning of the War of the Ring would warrant a tale all their own! That mysterious "errand" that drew Strider away from the borders of the Shire in June of 3018, for instance...

Her words wove for Aragorn a gloriously vivid tapestry of the merriment and joy that had flourished here even as he had been groping his way through the vile blackness within the Ephel Dûath. He let himself enter fully into the telling, until it seemed as if he could taste the frost of a moonlit winter night upon his lips and smell the rich spiced wine.

Beautiful. What a peaceful, gentle chapter.

Author Reply: Thank you, as always! We're long overdue for some peace.

Wouldn't every man wish he had a wife or a girlfriend as understanding and as supportive (not to mention as lovely) as Arwen! It is indeed true that behind the success of a great man is a woman (or an elleth, if you will hehe). Then again, wouldn't every woman wish she had a man of honor, wisdom and integrity as Aragorn was. Truly then deserve each other.

Finally I got my wish of "meeting" Glorfindel in this tale, even if only briefly. But just having his name mentioned is enough for me!

Author Reply: I'm sure you're right! I'm glad you enjoyed Glorfindel's brief preliminary appearance. Thanks!

I was able to catch up on the last few chapters. It is a shame that i don't have time to read your story more regularly since it is such a jewel. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain a bit about your interpretation and understanding of Aragorn and Arwen in one of the previous comments. I really appreciated this last chapter with them. They truly seemed like a couple in love. I can't wait to read more. By any chance will we ever get a kiss between Aragorn and Arwen before he leaves? Whatever the case, I look forward to reading more of your great writing.

Author Reply: You're so very welcome! I'm glad the explanation reached you, and that you like this chapter and their interactions within it. To answer your question about a kiss... well, that'd be a spoiler! ;-)

I really enjoyed this chapter. Aragorn might finally believe that he did only what was needed when traveling with Gollum/Smeagol. Arwen's wisdom and love are something that cannot be ignored, even by a guilt-ridden ranger. I'm glad that Arwen didn't listen to the whole story calmly but let Aragorn know her feelings. And the partly very formal breakfast was entertaining.

I do hope that Roheryn and Moroch are able to share Aragorn for a while. Roheryn just might get jealous of the young mare.

Glorfindel is so joyful that even though he is just a character in a story, he makes the reader happy, too. And the boots make an appearance! Aragorn apparently can't get rid of them.

Hmm... Most of the people don't know the origin of Elrond's circlet? It must be in that case very old, either from Doriath or Gondolin - or from Maglor. But if it symbolizes Elrond's rank in Imladris, it might not be older than the refuge in the valley. You have made me curious.

The Flight of the Eagle should be even more popular in this setting, as people know the Eagle in question!

Author Reply: So glad you liked the breakfast. ;-) It's wonderful to know that Glorfindel's joy comes across well. No spoilers on Elrond's circlet: it comes up in another piece I'm writing. Thanks as always for the lovely feedback!
