Elf Academy 3: The Enemy Within  by Fiondil 16 Review(s)

And off to Fairbanks they go...

I hope Glorfindel's falling asleep over the book didn't mean it turned out to be a boring one after all.

Valandur offering to teach classes is an interesting move. He seems the right person fro it and it will be a good thing to have something at hands. He needs to come down a bit more though, his intentions are good, but his comment about teaching classes didn't fall to well with Daeron of course!

Same goes for Finrod and Dave. Finrod' intentions again are good, but when placed under a bit of strain by Dave, he's falling back into gis old habits, and the later doesn't appreciate this! “Such a polite non-dismissal from the great Finrod Felagund,” Dave may be a friend, but he's a nice critical voice what doesn't take everything from the elves for granted.

Would be really interesting if Glorfindel could remember anything about the attack after all, like Dave is suspecting.

“Any arguments about it, and I will turn this van around no matter where we are. You got that?”
Ron doesn't take any prisoners, now does he? Interesting observation by Finrod how Ron knows Glorfindel maybe even beter then he does.

Of all the people traveling along the road to Fairbanks, the gang of course has to run into a herd of caribou *snickers*

Finrod's reaction on Fairbanks is funny and shows how how he yet has to learn about this world.

Glorfindel seems to be more alive from the journey than was to be expected, to perhaps finding out about the Twins whereabouts seems to ehhm, lifted his spirits. *snickers* We'll see what comes of that!

Author Reply: Hi FV_Whisper. I think Val was merely tweaking Daeron here. The two have great respect for one another. Finrod, however, does need to back down from his high horse here. At least he recognizes that he might have gone too far with Dave, who's nobody's fool, that's for sure.

And Ron knows all the ways to keep Glorfindel in line.

This is Finrod's first visit to the "big city" so he's feeling a bit stunned at the sight of Fairbanks. And as soon as Glorfindel sensed the Twins, he "perked" up and is ready to do battle with them however he feels. We'll see what comes of that in the next chapter.

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Valandur smiled. “I do know how to conduct a language class, Daeron. I was teaching first-year students at the Academy in Vanyamar when you were still trying to figure out how to write your runes.” Damn, they're old. LOL and it was uphill both ways, in the snow. and our classroom was a shoe box made of clay. Oh yours was clay? Ours was made of ice we had to chisel it ourselves, before class, every day.

“Loren would lie to God if he thought he could get away with it,” Dave shot back. “That guy has a knack of not saying anything by saying something totally inane but you think he’s actually saying something until you stop long enough to really listen to what he’s not saying.” LOL

Nick wiggled the fingers of one hand. “Just a bit. You need to work on being humble and contrite when Authority walks through the door.” ahem. this is a lessons all of the elves from Valinor still need to learn when among mortals.

“Any arguments about it, and I will turn this van around no matter where we are. You got that?” You can tell Ron is a dad.

Loved Glorfy entering the lobby and found it very amusing the problems they encountered on the trip.

Author Reply: Hi Ellie. Yeah, they're old all right. LOL! Playing one-upmanship with these two is an exercise in futility. I don't think even Glorfindel tries with them.

Dave has Glorfindel pegged, doesn't he? And you're right that all the Elves from Valinor need to learn to be humble and contrite even before mortal Authority.

And Ron is definitely in Dad-mode here.

Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

I have just noticed the last bit - which rooms! Is Ron going to overreact about the room arrangement?

Author Reply: I'm sure the elevator ride up was very... interesting. We'll see how Ron reacts in the next chapter. He's definitely in dad-mode here. *grin*

So the two 'fathers' are in place for the big reunion. I hope they handle it better than mine did when I ran away from home at age 21! I got 2 miles down the road when I got fetched back and I never got an apology!

I am learning American English as well as Elven languages from your stories!
I will leave you to guess which word!

Author Reply: Hi Harrowcat. Well, we'll see how the 'fathers' react once they're face-to-face with the runaways.

And learning American English as well as Elvish is a good thing. LOL!

Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Ah, the posse is finally on the road. Making the trip to Fairbanks sounds like some of the road trips we used to make between Baltimore and Chicago. Amazing how much stuff one needs when traveling, food, drinks, blankets and pillows. Plus finding the occasional Stuckeys so we could load up on candy.

I love the group you have put together to make the trip. I am happy to see Alex and Derick again with their mortal input into this trip. Of course, Ron is there to retrieve his daughter and Loren is anticipating catching up with the twins. Randall and Daeron are hopefully the more rational elves to be there to make sure that Ron and Loren don't kill the twins and Sarah. It has all the makings of a very memorable reunion.

*Going to go sit on the cliff now and enjoy the week.*

Author Reply: Hi rikki. It's a trip and a half from what I understand, never having actually driven it, but I've read about it.

I'm glad you like the group that is making the trip. And we'll see how memorable the reunion is in the next chapter.

Enjoy your stay at the cliff house. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Whoo-hoo! Alex is back! And they collectively descend on Fairbanks - that poor town doesn't stand a chance!

Loved Nick's comment about Finrod needing to be humble and contrite towards Authority. *g* And Vorondur putting Glorfindel in his place. And Daeron's wry comment to Valandur's high-handed treatment of him.

Now for the action! After such a draining journey, I'm sure everyone will be duly annoyed with the runaways. I know I would. *g*

Author Reply: Hi Soledad. Yes, Alex is back. And yes, with that crew, Fairbanks had better watch out. *grin*

Glad you enjoyed the chapter. We'll see how everyone reacts when they are all reunited in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.
