A Holiday Feast  by Larner 128 Review(s)
SoledadReviewed Chapter: 8 on 12/8/2014
Das Auge isst mit, as the Germans would say, right? ;))

Author Reply: Si dices, amiga mia! No hablo aleman muy bueno. Although I did pick up a copy of The Hobbit in German when we were visiting the Blindenstudienanstalt in Marburg in 1984. But I studied Spanish, not German. I was pleased at how well I could communicate when I visited Costa Rica in 1997, although I'm anything but fluent, I fear. I also have The Hobbit in espanol as well as in Deutsch. And I've read it in Spanish, while I've barely gotten through chapter three in German.

I'm sure Bilbo and Frodo's ham pleased everyone!

Wonderful! I would raise my glass in tribute but already finished it.

Author Reply: I would raise a glass, too, if I weren't in bed! Heh! Thanks so! See you the end of the month.

I'm with Freddy... I love deviled eggs.

Author Reply: Tony adored them, too, and had to eat them due to his dialysis his last few years. And somehow I can imagine Freddy loving them.

Apparently, Gandalf has a healthy appetite, too. *g*

Author Reply: Well, a Man-sized wash basin would hold a feast by Hobbit standards, I'd think. (Grinning in return.) This was written in memory of my husband, whose fruit salads seemed to grow larger and larger by the year for reasons we never understood.

Snowing food and raining drink indeed!

That is promising to be the grandest feast of all!

And I like the idea that Bilbo is saving the precious chocolate for Frodo and himself as a special treat when the feast is over.

Author Reply: Oh, but I so agree. And Bilbo would want to share the best with Frodo, I think. Thanks so, Andrea, and good to hear from you!

I hope I'm invited to this feast!

Author Reply: We all are, I think, for all it's intended for the residents of the region surrounding the Hill and their personal guests.

I'm definitely inviting myself over and I will gird myself properly to battle Freddy for a share of the spoils. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: If Freddy shows up, I suspect you may have to contest him for at least some of his favorites. Heh! Thanks so, Antane!

O my goodness Larner, that sounds like one big fruit salad! I wonder what all they put in it...apples, blueberries, cherries...hmm, very alphabetical! :)

Kaylee

Author Reply: My husband always swore he'd not make as big of a fruit salad as he had the year before, but it seemed to grow larger year by year instead. At the last Christmas dinner we had with him it filled my Wexford pattern punch bowl, which is enormous! And it's fun making these stories alphabetical! Heh!

Good family connections are useful. *g*
Poor Frodo, working on those eggs all day-the smell alone would make me ill.

Author Reply: Oh, yes, they can indeed prove helpful at times, or detrimental if one of them is Fredegar Bolger and it's your pantry and larder under attack! I can see what you mean.

AntaneReviewed Chapter: 5 on 12/5/2014
If they are going to have any deviled eggs, I will be right over... :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: You might have to fight Fatty for them of course. Heh!
