My Collection of Drabbles   by Periantari

The Smallest Person

A hobbit—who would have guessed the fate of Middle-earth lies on the one with the smallest stature, least hardy folk? If I had not known Bilbo, from what my father had said about him, I would object the moment I heard the Ring-bearer utter those words at the Council.

But who had the stouter heart during the time when the Arkenstone was in contention? Hobbits are more than meets the eye—the Ring-bearer and his fellow kinsmen are probably the bravest ones of all. Look at their determined eyes! I should not doubt the hobbits’ worth, not just yet.
